Just buy a Pi Zero, its more than capable of NES emulation.

This is worth it even if you just want to scoop out the innards and make it into a Pi emulator.

Edited the titles to remove NES as a few think it's misleading which was never my intention.

Saw these on eBay before but more. Always put off by lack of UK plug and I'd want to leave plugged in but china safety not the best.

Looks like a standard 5V mini USB connector anyway so there are many alternative power options for very little money. A lot of people probably already have similar adapters for various tech.

Heat !!! Lot cheaper than Nintendo's rip-off price for Nes-mini or Snes-mini.... :kissing_heart:

That's because the games on the NES mini are legal, I'm surprised HUKD even allow this deal as it is tantamount to promoting piracy.

Actually you will find it is not.

Yeah its not it's not listed as a NES on the site just this listing in fact it doesn't even say Nintendo on the system just "entertainment system" if anything its a ES not a NES due to no Nintendo partnership or licencing. Plus it's pretty terrible anyways to use.

.. How so ?, my understanding is something isn't abandonware if it's available for sale and I'm pretty confident that some of those games on that list are available to buy digitally on various Nintendo platforms .......

Downloading "abandonware" (or indeed pirated content) and trying to sell it are two very different things, the first does not bother me in the slightest, the latter (having been stung a couple of times on fleabay) riles me up.

Heated just for the price. Probably good for a bit of fun though admittedly its no nes mini. Still at least its cheap and plentiful - Nintendo could learn something there!

Analog video only means you will need a TV with an old style analog input or an HDMI converter.

Pros - cheap.
Cons - likely to catch on fire, circuit your house and blow up, oh, and the emulation is terrible, etc, etc, etc.

I'd still recommend a Wii with homebrew over this.

What's the point of making something look identical to a nes and then not putting Nintendo on it to avoid copyright! Surely the fact that its identical is enough.

The US use a lower voltage in their mains. If you plug this device into a UK socket you'll blow up the console. You can buy power transformers for about £8

9 Sep 17#36
Pretty sure the console is powered by a USB Mini. If you haven't the cable lying around already they're 99p on eBay.

Doubtful. Most 5v USB adapters are designed for dual voltage input. ie. 100~250vac
jamgin to mdekq007

The product description says 110-220v so should be no problem for use in UK. Also you are not plugging AC mains directly into the console so I'm afraid your warning is without factual basis.

I've bought one just to use as a decent case for a little Pi project. A few bits, a Dremmel and a steady hand could turn this into something really cool.
Im surprised you can't buy retro console Pi cases. I thought things like that would be all over Aliexpress, but alas not.

You kind of can actually, but they're not replicas. They're more homage stylee.
I've considered buying this, but I think that this deal is potentially a little better looking, although it would need a bit of Dremeling and hot glue.

from the pics the pads are old nes style plugs - anyone have any idea if these can be wired into a rasberry pi ? i'd imagine that some cheapass android chip or a pi running an emulator sits at the heart of these anyway so as others have mentioned it'd be great to gut it and build some retro emulator/media box, existing pads being able to be used would be a boon
