Just had to book this really cheap Xmas Market deal for us for late November for 59pp!
We've booked for the 27th-29th, our flight times are 2pm from Stansted and coming back at 6:30pm from Budapest on the 29th, so a decent couple of days' worth.
Hotel on these dates was more than 59pp on Booking.com so I think we've had a real bargain with flights included as well :raised_hand:

Seems such a bargain, and I believe Budapest is beautiful.... are the markets near the hotel does anyone know? Don't want to book then and up spending loads on taxis to get around. Sorry for all my questions but it will be a surprise for my fab Mum, so don't want it to turn out [email protected]! Haha x

Transport there is cheap. Take the underground and it goes most of the popular places, I think it cost like 12 euros for 2 day pass.

Budapest has a very good public transport system. You can get a two day pass very cheaply. This allows you unlimited travel on most metro, buses, HEV, trolley buses and trams. Oh, and is a beautiful city to visit. You and your mum should really enjoy it!

It looks like the hotel is away from the main area of the city (District V). There is no subway station near the hotel but there seems to be a tram stop very close by. It should be easy enough to get the tram to most places although you may need to study the routes slightly. The location seems to be the compromise here in order to get such a low price. Trams are cheap though. Food and drink is also very reasonable. It's a beautiful city which I highly recommend visiting!

Hotel is about 2 miles away in Buda & the Market is in Pest (the other side of the Danube). 2x large towns merged into what is today known as Budapest.

How do you find out the flight times?
And do you mean 26th - 28th Nov?
Mark_Corrigan1
3 Sep 17#8
@T21 - No idea sorry, haven't looked through all the dates.
@xcloose Have to buy the vouchers first then call to book before you know the flight times. Put mine up there as an example of what's on offer. And no it is the 27th-29th, sales agent says the date range advertised was the departure dates, so you can go on either the 26th, 27th or 28th :nerd:

@Savvy1 14 day cancellation period on Gogroopie, it's in a box on the right hand side of the page. Ryan/Brian (the sales agent that booked us in) said that once it was booked it was non-refundable though. :ninja:

A fair few European city's start their Christmas markets in late November.
Well, I haven't been home at Christmas time in the last few years, that's why I wasn't sure.

As it's September, you'll see all the shops here in Blighty are now starting to bring in Christmas stock! Plus Christmas light switch ons in city centre start around mid November. So, yes, you are wrong.

My first date with my husband was at Manchester Christmas markets in late November. This year Manchester Christmas markets are 10th November - 21st December so nothing out of the ordinary...
@johnszi23 Budapest Xmas Market dates are Nov 10 - Jan 1 (link)
Went to Copenhagen end of November last year as well and Tivoli Gardens was very much Christmas-ified. I think they're trying to extend the Christmas period as much as possible which is fine by me as I struggle to get time off in December.

Oooooh so tempted to book for me & Mum, for 21st Nov from Manchester.... anyone booked the same and know the flight times by any chance please? Is this a "just go off and do what takes ya fancy in your own time" kinda trip, or is there a tour around the market or anything? Anyone know what eating out is like, we're not fussy!.... expensive? Thanks ❤

I just booked for 2 nights in early Dec (3rd to 5th) for £99 pp, the cheapest flights would have been fine but were late out on the 3rd and early home on the 5th, however for a small fee of £25 pp we now have amazing flights which give us 3 full days in Budapest. The customer service agent was very helpful and very efficient at his job.

I booked this deal and I recommend people don't. the customer service has been stressful, the hotel they are advertising isn't even available and they offered a cheaper hotel and are trying to pass it of as more expensive, they've told me my voucher isn't worth the 128 pounds advertised but only 59 pounds. its cheaper to book this hotel and flight seperately.

Are the flights with Emirates or Singapore airlines? If so, this is a good deal.
OP, next time it would be useful to mention the carrier in the deal.
I'll vote this cold for now, as this vital info is missing.
Sorry.
With kindest regards.

We went last year for the markets and it was lovely. I would consider paying a little more and staying more centrally- we stayed at the Roombach hotel in the Jewish quater for around £30 a night. Free breakfast and walkable to almost everywhere. That's just one example as well, loads more central hotels for a decent price via Trivago, so you might be able to get just as good of a deal pricing this up seperatley yourself. Although as mentioned the public transport is good even if you are a little far out.

I went to Budapest for a dental vacation, could not imagine at all how great and clean it is. London is a rubbish depot in comparison. One recommendation, bring your own plastic bags, they cost a fortune at the food markets something like 30p if I remember well, lol.

Good luck with actually getting any decent flights at the stated price. I've just spent a very painful 45 minutes trying to find out the flight times, only to find that there is nothing from Gatwick and it's a £48 supplement per person to fly from Stanstead at reasonable times. I've paid the supplements but would warn everyone that for me this hasn't turned out to be quite the offer I'd expected...
FullyScaled to FullyScaled
4 Sep 17#36
It also turns out that my "supplement" of £48 per person is actually the full cost of alternative flights with Ryanair. Customer service agent was useless and rude - I'm sure you could book this independently for the same price or less.

don't buy this deal, book it yourself. you can book flight and accommodation in Sun Resort apartments, going out at a reasonable 12pm on Mon 4th Dec, coming back 3.35pm on Wed 6th for,£276 all in.......which is considerably less than the price( inc supplements) I had to pay from this company.
not to mention the 45 minutes I had to endure while they offered,me flights arriving at 9pm on day one and leaving pre dawn on day 3, staying in a hotel which tripadvisor had down as ' not suitable for syour worst enemy.'!
I am happy with the flight and accommodation I have now got but not with the v inflated price I had to pay. Nor with the operator, telling me that the act of ringing to check on available flights and giving him the codes meant I had redeemed the vouchers so couldn't cancel the deal. He wouldn't talk to me about flights until I gave, him the codes and I didn't realise that this act would commit me to not being able to cancel...
all that said, I am really looking forward to Budapest but this has been a very, poor experience and I am embarrassed by my naivety

As someone has previously stated the hotel is in buda, which is kinda quiet and not a lot going on you'd be much better off staying in pest. We done budapest at xmas a couple of years ago and it was lovely. The weather was oddly warm however restaurants and bars still had their heating blaring like it was freezing outside. We go and do an xmas market each year and the budapest are pretty much the same as krakow, amsterdam, prague etc etc.
