Some great offers just appeared on my account. This being one of them. I also have the topshop one that's already posted, and Superdrug £5 statement credit with a £20 spend Love the esso ones! Some places sell gift cards, and if they have a Tesco shop there, spending there counts, plus, if buying gift cards, this combines with poster chanchi's fantastic deal:
Yes, giftcards are the way to go. You can pay for fuel at Tesco stations with Tesco giftcards, although some Esso stations will allow it.
First Direct have a slightly better offer - £5 credit on a £40 spend. I'll be using that today.

Ye, the gift card way is credit to you really, backinstock, as you're a legend in this  bit gutted I filled my car up at Asda on Monday, and I only have 2 essos near me and they never had any gift cards that I wanted previously. This is a sight better than the one-off spends though, and am aiming to use a good few times. First direct offer sounds a bit tasty

This is, as usual with Amex offers, account specific. Good deal though if you can get it! Hot!

Doh, me, It's the Superdrug that's already posted separately. Topshop/topman, £10 back on a £40 spend
Visa uk offers much better than Amex and have got it both on credit and debit card. Cold for me

How much are Visa U.K. Giving on the esso, topshop and Superdrug?

I agree they're generally not as good, but have improved lately (and Amex haven't had their best deals of late, but this week seems to be picking up). Visa Offers EU did have a £5 off £40 Esso spend that ran for the last month or so, expired Monday I think. Nothing on Superdrug but again last month they had a Boots offer (£5 off £30). I've registered and used my HSBC card and I think they cover First Direct too, not sure on others.
Thanks for posting this one, not on any of my cards this time. Is it worth adding the Amex tag to the OP? (Sorry if I'm missing it but didn't seem to show for me this way - hotukdeals.com/tag…mex ).

Hmm, yes agree £5 off £40 is good, but I'm liking that this Amex offer is redeemable as many times as you can do within the offer period. I'm sure I had a boots deal on Amex recently.. yes, I bought a gift card, think that was £5 back on a £10 spend? Ye, best is to have both and cover both bases-why not? I couldn't see it as a reason to vote cold tho, lol. Thanks for info. I have an HSBC account somewhere, so will look into it

Thanks for the heads up! I have activated the offer on my card. Not sure when these get added to the website. I had logged in yesterday, and the SuperDrug offer was there but not the Esso one.

There isn't one on the app

Ive seen on previous Amex threads that sometimes the offer doesn't show in the app, but does appear on the main website, once you log in. Worth a try

Haven't got it in neither the app not on the main website. Which is why I was asking for the OfferId, will try adding it to my card on the main website - may be it will work, maybe it won't!

As the conditions for this and a number of other Amex offers say something like "limited to the first 9000 saved to a card" does anyone know with these offers if it is withdrawn once the limit is met/passed or is the idea that you go and buy anyway and only find out if/when you get cashback. Put simply how do I know if I am eligible and one of the first XXXX people to save it to my card

you buy gift cards with your amex. for example, I shop in waitrose, but Morrisons used to give 10p off fuel when purchasing gift cards. Buy John Lewis gift cards - get 10p vouchers off fuel. shop in waitrose & pay with giftcards. Done on a Credit. Some stores sell other stores gift cards. so £5 off £40, etc. to meet the spend needed.

Take the Superdrug offer for example. If I already want to spend over
£20 there I'd just buy the goods and get the £5 cashback. If I don't
want to spend £20 all in one go I could buy a £20+ gift card to
gradually use in the future. Alternatively if I don't need anything from
there I could look to see if they sell other gift cards, eg. Amazon,
Pizza Hut, iTunes. Amex only see the value of the transaction, not the
itemised bill. Buying gift cards can be a way to make full use of the
offer without buying unwanted stuff.

confusingly, in a good way, i've just been to get some gift cards from my local esso. The till was giving an extra discount, so my £50 worth of gift cards only came to £44, so I upped it to £60 worth, paid £54 at the till. After the statement credit thats £49 for £60 worth. Also got Tesco £50, to buy some gift cards when they go to 20% off

2 x nandos £20 and a Cineworld £10, till receipt states 15% off gift cards multi buy savings, till took off an extra £6, so total was only £44. Aah just realised, its the Tesco offer that running, and posted on here.... https://www.hotukdeals.com/visit/thread/2798467

Oh I see. So it's not particulary an Amex or even credit card deal particularly, just picking up extra points. I think I recall you get fewer Tesco Clubcard points on fuel directly too... if it's worth your time going about the houses for a few pence extra.

Confusingly I've also had an email about the offer from Amex but when I click the link and login to my account it's not showing in offers anywhere. Going to fill up at Esso this week and see if I get any email confirming I've redeemed it!

Hmm, you haven't had the option to opt in? If they don't credit you, give them a call. Their CS is excellent
