Go to switch nintendo store, go to profile, top up £20 via paypal.....unless i missed something really obvious

Yeah its there in my account wallet, i topped up £20 like many in this thread and it took 20. I contacted paypal and they gave me some BS about it being as subscription purchase so didnt apply? I might call the complaints team

1) Did you click the link and activate
2) If so did you check how much paypal took out (its not a voucher as such - its just when you spend 20 paypal only take 15).

My issue is that I bought BOTW on Wii U and whilst I am going to buy a Switch eventually I have already sunk over 120hours in. I wanted to use this discount on the BOTW DLC but I don't think it's gonna be possible??

AFAIK, to use this to purchase credit (as opposed to a specific game), you need to do so on a Switch. Game purchases can be done via the web version of the eShop.

So as I have Wii U, I can't top-up funds in my account to then use later, can only use this method when purchasing a title over £20 - I think that's how I've understood it?

Annoying I can't add multiple titles to the eshop basket, get to over 20 then use PayPal discount.

The store website only lets you buy one game at a time, and I don't see any over twenty quid I want

I logged in to my Paypal account and clicked on "Benefits and Offers" then "Find Offers". The Nintendo offer was a little way down the screen under "New Offers". You need to activate it before you can use it. If it's your first time using Paypal on the eShop you also need to link your Nintendo and Paypal accounts (do this from the link in the eShop). I purchased Overcooked: Special Edition and chose to pay for it by adding £20 to my Nintendo Account (the game was £17.99). I then checked my Paypal account and it clearly shows the £5 discount. Cheers OP.

Can anyone any eshop only games for the Switch?
Illusionary

I've not played the two versions in close enough proximity to compare directly, but assuming that you're using HDMI, you'll get the benefit of connection standard compared to that offered by the Wii.

Just bought £20 via Switch top up and got the Paypal charge for £15.

It's rare to get decent eshop top-up discounts!

No but for example, NES games on the NES Mini - they look crisp and clear, so will buying them and playing them on the Wii U look like they do on the Mini, rather then blurry on the Wii?
Illusionary
7 Sep 17 #108
Yes

Buying the game on Wii U doesn't upgrade the graphics :stuck_out_tongue: It's an NES game, so will display at 256 x 240 resolution on either system.
superfreddy
7 Sep 17 #107
Also, say I bought Super Mario Bros 3 on the Wii store, and then bought it on the Wii U eShop - I'm guessing the Wii U eshop version would be in HD as apposed to the Wii version?
superfreddy
7 Sep 17 #106
Ok so I can just go onto my Wii U, go into Wii mode, go into the Wii store and just buy and download the game to my Wii U console?
Illusionary
7 Sep 17 #105
A Wii U can access the Wii Shop Channel using Wii mode. You can't download or play Wii games natively on a Wii U, but instead use Wii mode.
superfreddy
7 Sep 17 #104
Would it work though? Zombies is not on the Wii U store, but it's on the Wii store. So surely if I then reset my Wii U in 6 months, I would have lost Zombies forever?
Illusionary
7 Sep 17 #103
Yes, but don't sell the Wii until you've completed the system transfer.

en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app…i-u
superfreddy
7 Sep 17 #102
Thanks, on a different note, the game 'Zombies ate my neighbours' can be purchased via the Wii, but not on the Wii U.

I plan on selling my Wii so can I buy it on the Wii and then do some sort of system transfer to get it on the wii u?
Illusionary
7 Sep 17 #101
You can use it if you're buying a game via the web store, just not to buy credit.

They also profit more as the game can't be resold and they don't have to share the profits with the retailer.

If anything digital games should be at least £10-£20 less. Y'd think that want people to buy more digital games, so they have more control!

6 Sep 17 #86
unfortunately not and having credit on your account actually stops you changing regions as far as I know. would have been great for the zelda dlc but nothing I'm after is currently cheaper using this deal
jsty3105
6 Sep 17 #85
Nope - credit is specific to a country's currency. And you can't have any credit in your account if you want to change eshop regions. This prevents you from loading up in pounds and spending in south african currency
Great thinking though!

Just added £20 now, PayPal email confirmed they only charged 15. Convoluted process to link account, had to go into my eshop on switch, click my face in top right, click add funds, click PayPal and then send email, click link in email and click link account and type in my password, then go back to eshop and add 20, it won't say it's discounted until you get an email from PayPal confirming the discount.

Select “Nintendo eShop” on the HOME Menu to launch the Nintendo eShop.

Select the picture of your icon in the upper-right corner to access your Account Information.
Select “Add Funds” in the upper-right corner.
Select “PayPal.”Link your PayPal account to your Nintendo Account, if you have not already done so.
Select £20.

I did it with Sonic Mania on the Russian eshop. I went to accounts.nintendo.com (I think that's the one, it's so convoluted) and changed my location to Russia.

First of call you have to unlink your the two accounts (your Nintendo account and your NNID) at the above URL. Then go to edit profile and change your location.

You'll have to sacrifice any outstanding credit, then log back in to your Switch and you should be fine.

Buy and download the game, then go back and relink your account and change location back and I think that's 'all' you have to do. You may have to relink your nnid after you've changed your account to Russian etc in the first place, then delink it before you change back to UK, then relink it once you've changed it. It's not exactly a straightforward process!

I've Sonic installed on the one UK account in always use, and it's showing as purchased in the UK eshop also.

5 Sep 17 #67
You can just leave the page after it has said your paypal account has linked and before finalising the game purchase.
I can't see that there's any advantage in doing so though. Because unlike the Switch, on a 3DS at least, you can't add funds via paypal even after doing this. So you'd have to buy a game anyway to use it - which you may as well do via the website.

Great! Cheers OP! For anyone struggling you need to follow the link from here to activate on your PayPal first. Then head to eshop on Switch and try to add funds from PayPal. It’ll then email you with a link. Follow the link to enable payments to Eshop. Head back to eshop and top up with £20 from PayPal. Will add £20, but PayPal will only show as £15. Phew!

Anyone had experience buying from different eShops to get cheaper prices? i.e Sonic Mania for £9 on the Russian eShop and Shovel Knight for £15.19 on the Japanese eShop? I'd do that over this to save a bit of cash, however my concern is that I'd like to have all my purchases in the one place on one account. Do I need to set up a new account and/or user on my Switch? Will I need to switch said accounts every time I want to play these games?

I think in the past if you saved an offer it didn't guarantee you had it so people saved an offer and then tried to redeem it later and lost out because the limit had been reached in the mean time. I've just bought £20 credit and it only cost £15, that is the safest thing to do rather than wait and purchase a game later.

The issue is many games are cheaper from other regions so for example buying Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is £22.49-£5.00=£17.49 or if you buy it off the Japan eShop it'll cost roughly £15.19

Should've bought it a few weeks back when it had a 30% discount to make it £21. I think it is okay for £20, a bit slow and the world map music does drag. Fights don't seem very fun so far, with minimal strategy. Then again I am only a couple of hours in. M&R is taking up all my gamig time right now.

5 Sep 17 #13
Nice one OP. I'm not sure what to use the discount on but I'm sure there will be something before it expires on 24th September. I will probably end up getting another indie game along with Steamworld Dig 2 (release 21/09/2017) to get it over the £20 and get the discount.

This discount also brings Lego Worlds down to a nice £19.99 price point.
Can be done through the Switch itself. Source: myself purchasing Sonic Mania at launch.
