Regarding the 2 night hotel deals, there was a similar deal advertised recently via Wowcher and when I looked at it, I saw what looked like 2 nice places on the scrolling pictures that were being used. However I could not find these particular hotels so I rang Buy a Gift and they didn't know where they were either and suggested the pictures may be for illustrative purposes. I suggested that would be helpful to know. I didn't hear back from them as they were going to find out. And I didn't book anything.

I told my experience - you're fully entitled to your opinion on the authenticity of my experience. If there's one thing I've learned in this life, it's that I cannot control anyone else's opinion of me or anything else - to think otherwise is actually a form of insanity.

I just did a two car experience at the top gear track, it was a bit disappointing, they do everything they can to extract more money out of you. The £25 insurance waiver being the worst - they are already covered but scare you with - if you damage the cars in any way - £5000 insurance excess.
The first car they don't let you drive fast so a waste of time, second car is better but the tracks are so short that's it's just over more quickly, unless of course you pay more money to do more laps. They get you to upshift early as well so you don't even get to hear the noise of the engine. The Ferrari design means that you have to turn your foot sideways to depress the accelerator, great design... :astonished:

Last time I went, the instructor asked me my experience straight away, as I wanted to drive in paddle shift rather than auto. They have to consider your ability and driving experience before they allow you open the cars up. It's for their safety and yours. The first thing I told the instructor is that I pulled up in a BMW M3, have had two previous supercars and a little rally experience. He basically said crack on, and I drove the GTR as hard as I could. By the last lap I managed to get it completely sideways on a turn and he said nothing
You're right about the scare mongering on the insurance though, I took it out as I feared they would try and sting me if the gearbox/clutch or turbo went. They said they wouldn't charge me for that unless my actions had directly caused the fault, but I didn't like the idea that they could easily turn around and say it's 'your fault' if it did break down. Bit of con I think as insurance is a prerequisite in the first place.

It's not just about YOUR ability, it's about them PROTECTING their asset. I have never seen anyone "going sideways" at any of these events as in doing so you're adding undue wear and tear to tyres and stressing the mechanics of the car.
Also, to suggest that they assess you based on the car you turn up in is ridiculous, and if true, plain stupid, owning a fast car does not mean you can drive fast, or even well!
Either you got with an instructor who didn't care or the organisers are dodgy

I don't think you fully read what I said, or maybe you did and what I said got lost in translation. Either way, you've either misinterpreted what I wrote or exaggerated it. Anyway, changes nothing because that's precisely what happened.

No...I've re-read my response and everything I wrote has a direct reference to what YOU wrote, I don't honestly think it's be who exaggerated anything
I'm getting deja vu on this and I think we've already been through it on here? If so, I didn't believe you then and I still don't

Does this work out cheaper through TCB at the moment?
15% off TCB code and 13% cashback.
Mind you not sure if worth the risk of cashback.

Dont bother with the supercar experiences unless you want to drive around in 4/5th gear and not be able to experience the actual car through all the gears......Had one at Rockingham and was awful would never do one again

Sounds like they may differ from venue or the instructor.
I did one at York and the instructor encouraged me to try and get the most out of the car from the start.
Yes, the extra sell is there, for the insurance waiver, photo'sand car upgrades...but no pressure to do so.
Bear in mind, the cars will probably be the older models, with some wear... unless you upgrade, and pay between £10 and £20 extra I think it was and you can upgrade to a super clean later model. For me, it was a one off so I upgraded one of my cars...well worth it!
The passenger ride was fantastic, and all in all a great afternoon out that the family enjoyed too

My daughter wants to do this but that put me off. I get the impression if she went of the track and maybe scratched a wheel or bodywork then they'd hit her with the cost?
But orange scones sound tasty
