Out of interest I checked what discount I get on Argos shopping cards via the third party service offered by my employer (most large organisations are hooked up to one of these). 8% off in cash / 10% off in some sort of points-based equivalent. So they have this sort of 10% discount built into their business model anyway - still nice to see them extend it in this way on a customer service failing though.

I phoned up and complained few days ago because the day after the order was cancelled they took the money anyway and then said it could be up to a week before it would be refunded back to me! I spoke to a very nice advisor who apologised and agreed to send me a £10 gift card through the post. It arrived yesterday.

Maybe it's just me being cynical but it seems like Argos got the better deal. They took my money the same day I ordered but apparently I have to wait at least a week to get it back. Sounds like they got a whole bunch of money interest-free for a supposed pricing glitch.

Argos are nothing but trouble.
Twice I have purchased when their 10 voucher was on for offers over £100 and purchased for store pickup.
Not received a single voucher from them. Emails get nowhere.

He wasn't blowing his trumpet to be fair. It's in response to you single-handedly setting a precedence in multiple comments that only long-standing members should have priority to receive gifted codes. Whether this is morally right or not, there are no rules on this so it's just an opinion. I think it's a bit unfair to to pull up stats from peoples' profiles and assert yourself to assume priority in an almost bullying and desperate fashion. That is far less community-spirited in my view than someone chancing their luck to grab a spare code. At the end of the day, it's up to the holder of the voucher to decide who they give their code to and they can view profiles themselves if they're really bothered. It certainly shouldn't be dictated by another member. Who's to say another member who doesn't have a lot of money, wanting to buy Christmas presents for their kids, is less-deserving than you just because they've been a member for less time, or they've posted less comments?
I'm pleased you've got your voucher but for Pete's sake, get a grip man! This is not an elitist community.
