No, it was a £40 discount. Smyths appeared to round up so the discount was £40.
In any case, I paid £159 for something that went through the till at £199. So, £40 discount.

The 20% off has been around for few years. The rumour was it was happening this year but when it didn't happen the Smyth's Toys Facebook page got bombarded with idiots complaining that they had planned Christmas presents around the 20% off. It was actually quite funny to read how annoyed some people were.
I plan on spending £X on my kids each year. If I can get discounts then all the more money left for the alcohol buying :raised_hand:

In previous years, Smyths have run a 20% off weekend mid-September and for a lot of people this was considered to be their main event. But it looks like they will not be running the 20% off this year unfortunately - they will likely do a series of these £10 / £20 off type offers instead.
If you are looking for toys, Argos are rumoured to be running a 3 for 2 from this Wed 27th, and Tesco are likely to run a 3 for 2 also, but I think the Tesco one was late October last year (??)

I'm gutted that they won't be doing 20% off everything!!! I've been waiting for it and that's how I do birthdays and christmas. Gutted!! I'm totally broke this year so not sure that I want to spend £50 a once

Not really as if you spend £80 you won't get 20% off, only works out if you spend £50 or £100 Argos 3 for 2 works out cheaper if your buying the same priced items
