Work with IFTTT - brings everything together If This Then That ( or IFTTT ) is both a website and a mobile app that launched in 2010 and has the slogan "Put the Internet to work for you". The idea is that you use IFTTT to automate everything from your favourite Apps and websites to App-enabled accessories and smart devices. IFTT has become the ultimate automation service for small tasks between Internet-connected services. Whether on the Web or with selected Apps on iOS and Android, IFTTT can handle anything its member service "channels" support. When user-specified events occur, follow-up tasks are triggered and handled. There are numerous combinations ( also called "recipes" ) on IFTTT that can make your life easier. These links consist of just two elements: a Trigger ( If This ) and an Action ( Then That ) – For example, If you own a Xiaomi smart light, you could use IFTTT to automatically turn on the light every time you're tagged in a Facebook photo. In another example, you could set your light to be turned on, if motion is detected in your home when you're not at home.
The product has passed Alexa certification and could be voice controlled by Amazon Echo

While this may be a good deal, it's really annoying to see the mods now EMBRACING all these Chinese websites, just because they've joined their affiliate programmes. When I previously posted deals from international sites, they've been deleted.

Yep, I'm getting the "can't update your settings, check the connection" error. Annoying. Maybe it's because it's already linked to and connected to Alexa?
Can anyone who has this light manage to link it with Google Assistant? Hold the Home button down to get into Assistant, go to settings... home control... add device... Yeelight Actions.
[EDIT] It seems to be a bug with Google, hopefully resolved soon...
I've just ordered two. Went through TopCashback and ordered first via my Gearbest Account then cleared cookies, history etc and went through TCB again, logged in Gearbest via google account. Both times code worked for me.

If you're doing the sensible thing and controlling these with something like Home Assistant rather than the app, be sure to block their internet access as they'll continue constantly polling China otherwise.

I don't think you can do that exactly. I used the 'Scenes' (I think it was called) option, where it transitions through a set pattern over a set time. For example, there is the 'sunrise' one. I think it's about 15mins. AFAIK, there's no way to change the timings. I don't have the app right now since my light died some time ago.. will get it again when my order arrives- so can't tell you the exact details.
A thought though; Someone above posted the tcp addresses to control the bulb via its' IP address. One could make a script to do what you like with timing/effects. I'd suppose it would be extremely simple with something like python, or even with the android sdk, but this is beyond my knowledge- I'm sure throwing it into a bash (Linux) script, though, would be easy enough. I'll probably have a play when my bulb comes.

OK. figured out how to apply the code.
1. First, empty the cart so you have no items.
2. Now login to gearbest with you normal account.
3. If you have a topcashback account then after logging in to gearbest close the browser.
4. Now open new browser and login to topcashback and then select gearbest.
5. You'll be redirected to gearbest with your account already logged in.
6. now search for Xiamoi yeelight and add to your cart.
7. Now apply the code and complete the purchase.
(SKIP step 3,4 and 5 if you're not using topcashback)

Hi, can I set up 1 schedule time but within that make the light colours change and fade?
At the moment, I set up separate 30 mins schedules when I want the light to go from red green for example.
So say at 9pm I want it to be bright red but as it goes towards the 10pm off timr, to fade say every 15 minutes?
EN1GMA

The yeelight app is very good, lots of options, can set one off schedule or recurring ones.

Regarding the yeelight app/mi home - does it make any difference which server (locale) you use? As there is no UK option?
edmundajwilliams
7y 29d#114
Yes, directly form the mii home / yiilight app. I've had mine fading off at 11, then it ramps up with red/orange hues (sunrise) at 7. Along with my RPi Hifi alarm playing me Pink Floyd, it's pretty nifty It then turns off at 9am, in case I forget to when I leave the house.

It's not that bad imo, it takes 2 weeks min up to around 6 weeks. The unbranded stuff is often a bit tatty and the reviews are worthless but it's still good value. Generally speaking for non electronics I'd use AliExpress, it's even cheaper and they're far better at refunds.

7y 31d#76
my trick was plug in just one bulb at a time, and synch it. then turn off and unplug/unscrew it. then sync another bulb and unscrew, and do the next, then once all are synched separately, screw them all in and turn on and it works
I have mine connected via a wifi repeater. I need to set my phone to the wifi on that (which is a different network name to the router), and the bulbs are set to that. so if that's off they don't work. I need to turn the repeater on first, then turn on the bulbs at the wall, then load up the app, in that order. sometimes it doesn't work so I need to turn off and start again. that's as I turn off at the wall at night instead of leaving them on and using the app to turn on and off. I also turn the repeater off at night as it's only needed in the living room
pete_101
7y 31d#75
Yeah tried resetting them a few times, even moved them next to the router in case it was losing connection for some reason. Also tried using MiHome app instead of Yeelight. Yeelight goes to 25% and then fails, MiHome goes through to 100% and looks ok but then goes to telling you how to reset light and start process again without ever synching.

Can someone clarify, can these be controlled with voice command on an android phone, without having to resort to a device like Echo, Dot or Google Home?
Edit...
For anyone interested it can be done using tasker. Here's the guide...
Agreed - did the same here at 13:08 Saturday. £9.37 for a SINGLE one unit purchase! Option of paying 40p to get (likely) quicker delivery.
FYI: The ES Edison Screw to BC Bayonet Cap adapters are also available in Ikea - 2 for £1 from memory.
I also used a dual ES to single ES adapter (2 for c£1.50 on eBay from memory) to put two of these into a lamp to get the level of brightness - ie double lumens - I wanted.

i have a few of them. 2 are connected to a dimmer switch. you can't use the switch to dim them and you need the dimmer up full brightness/power for them to work. you need to quickly turn on and full power to get them on. then you use the app for on/off and brightness. it was a bit fiddly getting them set up. the trick was to set up one bulb at a time, then unplug that bulb and plug in the other and get that working, then once all bulbs connected to the app you can put all the bulbs in and it should hopefully work. it did take a while to get working
i also got them to work with alexa and even with the voice command on my kindle, but it took a bit of messing around to get working. the bulbs are brighter than the lower power normal bulbs i had previously, but also dim even lower. i tend to put on a coloured hue when i want a low light for watching tv, like blue or purple. just enough to see in the dark
i use adapters for the ceiling bulbs, i think amazon has 6 for a couple of quid, but i got em about a quid each on ebay to convert screw end to bayonett cap (standard lightfitting). they stick out a bit lower by an inch or two
19DembaBa19
7y 31d#52
So I can swap it with my bulb but will need Alexa or the app to switch the light on/off

7y 31d#51

fubbychucker
7y 31d#25
Just for clarity, they can be used with or without the app - an app is not required to work them as in themselves they can be just a standard lightbulb however you won't be able to make use of the colour range/brightness etc and some of the other gimmicky things like 'Music Flow' which I admit does work well. They can also be used with Echo, Dot and Google Home. I use mine with Google Home and it works perfectly, Yeelight as a platform now has full integration with Google Home. The bulbs themselves are exceptional, Xiaomi are taking over the world and rightly so, I've not found a bad product they make. I personally have six of the colour ones dotted around the house with several more on order along with a number of GU10 MiLights. If you follow the Link B22 to E27 converters which work perfectly well but do add a little extra 'height''. £5.89 on prime next day delivery for 5.

Ooh nice! I bought one a few weeks back for 10.90 or so and have been loving it! The use that sold me on it was being able to set it to a really dim red which is enough to not stub your toe while going to the bathroom but also is really soothing and helps me sleep. Better yet set the sleep timer and when the light turns off you know it's time to stop talking and get some sleeping done. Ordered a second one for the office, this'll be a third for the living room.

Are people using the MiHome app or the Yeelight app?
I found the bulbs respond quicker on the MiHome app and this app also allows both Yeelight and Philips connected bulbs to be added.
Just wondered if theres any other apps or pros / cons between the apps?
I couldn't get IFTTT to work with the Philips bulbs, some of the IFTTT recipes worked with the Yeelights but didn't find anything particularly useful.
danmed to adamck
7y 31d#20
Personally i've turned on developer mode and i now control the bulbs directly via their IP address..
To tie this in to Alexa, you can run HA-BRIDGE on your network and then the bulbs appear as Hue bulbs in the Alexa app..
If you want more info, let me know.. I hate having to go through third party servers and have multiple apps installed on my phone to control smart devices.

Work with IFTTT - brings everything together
If This Then That ( or IFTTT ) is both a website and a mobile app that launched in 2010 and has the slogan "Put the Internet to work for you".

I've logged out, emptied basket, cleared cookies and then logged in, added bulb and then used code and price goes up instead its definitely not working for me. I tried it earlier and it worked although i was busy so when i went back and tried placing my order it decides no longer to work.
Can anyone who has this light manage to link it with Google Assistant? Hold the Home button down to get into Assistant, go to settings... home control... add device... Yeelight Actions.
[EDIT] It seems to be a bug with Google, hopefully resolved soon...

At the moment, I set up separate 30 mins schedules when I want the light to go from red green for example.
So say at 9pm I want it to be bright red but as it goes towards the 10pm off timr, to fade say every 15 minutes?
Any more questions, please ask.
It then turns off at 9am, in case I forget to when I leave the house.
I've just managed to add my Nest and D-Link switch, which appear to work, but trying to add 'Yeelight Actions' I get "Can't update the setting. Check your connection."
Works fine with IFTTT, but no dice with Google Assistant
How do they compare with the brightness? (dont care about UI)
Ordered 1 which is the maximum allowed.
Tried to make a separate order but it wouldn't allow it.
can it be schudlded without any hubs ?
PS. me floundering over whether to impulse buy at a WHOLE tenner turned into buying the bulb, and a switch, and a different type of switch, and the xiaomi-Phillips lamp at £38... I justified it by having bought the reebok trainers deal for <£30 when I'd already budgeted new trainers for £70.. yep...seems to add up... :\
Adding the code increases the price.
Just tried again. No luck.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get them to work with Google Now?
Ideally I want to say "OK Google, turn off all the lights downstairs".
Boooooo
I have mine connected via a wifi repeater. I need to set my phone to the wifi on that (which is a different network name to the router), and the bulbs are set to that. so if that's off they don't work. I need to turn the repeater on first, then turn on the bulbs at the wall, then load up the app, in that order. sometimes it doesn't work so I need to turn off and start again. that's as I turn off at the wall at night instead of leaving them on and using the app to turn on and off. I also turn the repeater off at night as it's only needed in the living room
Edit...
For anyone interested it can be done using tasker. Here's the guide...

FYI: The ES Edison Screw to BC Bayonet Cap adapters are also available in Ikea - 2 for £1 from memory.
I also used a dual ES to single ES adapter (2 for c£1.50 on eBay from memory) to put two of these into a lamp to get the level of brightness - ie double lumens - I wanted.
i also got them to work with alexa and even with the voice command on my kindle, but it took a bit of messing around to get working. the bulbs are brighter than the lower power normal bulbs i had previously, but also dim even lower. i tend to put on a coloured hue when i want a low light for watching tv, like blue or purple. just enough to see in the dark
i use adapters for the ceiling bulbs, i think amazon has 6 for a couple of quid, but i got em about a quid each on ebay to convert screw end to bayonett cap (standard lightfitting). they stick out a bit lower by an inch or two
Wanted one for the bathroom but reckon just flicking the switch is better for that job
Could someone tell me if I have 2 of these light fitted that the wifi connection will alter both lights together and not seperate??
Many thanks.
Thanks
I found the bulbs respond quicker on the MiHome app and this app also allows both Yeelight and Philips connected bulbs to be added.
Just wondered if theres any other apps or pros / cons between the apps?
I couldn't get IFTTT to work with the Philips bulbs, some of the IFTTT recipes worked with the Yeelights but didn't find anything particularly useful.
To tie this in to Alexa, you can run HA-BRIDGE on your network and then the bulbs appear as Hue bulbs in the Alexa app..
If you want more info, let me know.. I hate having to go through third party servers and have multiple apps installed on my phone to control smart devices.
Edit : These are my on / off commands
On : tcp://192.168.2.211:55443/{\"id\": 1, \"method\":\"set_power\", \"params\":[\"on\"]}\r\n
Off : tcp://192.168.2.211:55443/{\"id\": 1, \"method\":\"set_power\", \"params\":[\"off\"]}\r\n
Dim : tcp://192.168.2.211:55443/{\"id\": 1, \"method\":\"set_bright\", \"params\":[\${intensity.percent}, \"smooth\", 500\]}\r\n
*Edit - code works with only one bulb.
Wasn't going to buy the colour one as couldn't justify the price... but under £10 is too good to miss!
Ordered!!
