Have an issue with this phone, I can initiate a text message , when the contact replies, I go to type a reply in and the message does not get sent, it is as if the 0 is getting stripped from the number.,

Great price .

Good price for this. Get more than a days battery out of it. Only downside is you can only have 1 SIM card if you use a memory card. Also, the miui whilst giving additional features like preventing apps from using data connection, can cause issues with some apps where it shuts them down to save power, eg Strava, so you have to fiddle about with it (still haven't got Strava working fully!). Overall though it's great, very quick too, stick nova launcher on it over the bland miui desktop and it's pretty much a normal android

Have you installed the Ant Tester app to check what components you have on the phone, you may well need to install ant radio service, ant usb etc. play.google.com/sto…_GB
Cheers, I don't think it's any of that, I think it's shutting down Strava to save battery. Strava works, just seems to stop working part way through a ride.

Have a look at settings>Battery>Manage apps battery usage>choose apps, select Strava, then set it to 'no restrictions'.

These are decent phones , a cut above the usual Chinese brands ( Doogee, Ulefone, Cubot , Umi etc ) . Xiaomi are considered one of the top Chinese brands. You do get software updates unlike most of the other cheap Chinese brands , but not monthly security patches ( i was not aware that any phone did ).
Their Miui version of android adds a few useful features . But it does have their Miui equivalent of google apps backing up your photos, set up, messages etc ( Its useful for the Chinese were Google is banned - but largely unnecessary on the Global versions that have the google apps installed ). These are the only bloatware installed ( there are no dodgy Chinese apps ).

Google nexus phones always update to latest android version and receive monthly security patches but they are very expensive even older models & 2nd hand used are pricey I had the 5x and it was an excellent phone until I dropped it !

Isn't it better to purchase this in US dollars - $92.99 = £70.28 at time of writing? I know it's only a couple of quid though every little helps as they say. Mind you, I'm probably not the only one to have thought of this.

If you do that, your card company (with the exception of very few), will probably class that as a non-Sterling transaction & charge you a fee for it (usually 3% of the transaction + £1 - it varies depending on card). So, either way you'll get hit with the extra charge.
Some card companies (one example below), including certain pre-paid ones, will not charge you extra for this type of transaction - so, use this method if you have it.
Yeah, I have a Halifax Clarity card, reason why I said it to be honest. Yeah and may not be to everyone's advantage if they don't have something similar alright. Yeah I did think of that.

Credit cards always charge just a percentage (0% - 2.99% depending on the type) Some debit cards charge a fee and percentage, some just the percentage.

But significantly more expensive as you can no longer evade VAT.

Only slightly more expensive, and VAT was already evaded on the buyer's behalf when Geekbuying sneaked the goods in to the EU.

At US$27 extra to US$93, I don't think there is any sneaking, you are paying much more than 20% extra, ample for VAT and more.

Slightly? Next cheapest that's not China based is Spain. Unless you're prepared to pay the extra for the convenience of getting it from Spain it's about £20 more otherwise. Does look like the same one as posted by the OP I'm looking at though for $119.99 = about £90.74
So it was a Note 4X you bought, the 4X (non-note) is not available with 4GB. Note series are fantastic VFM, we've 2 Note 3 at home and I just bought a Note 4 for the old man. Enjoy your phone, not too difficult IMO, it's a lot of phone for the money.
So maybe they do mean the smaller Redmi 4X, although their review link is Note 4X and people often mix up the Redmi 4X, Redmi Note 4X and RN4 Global Version.

There are several different Xiaomi Redmi 4 models with similar names. This review of the 4 (also called 4X) explains the difference between the models. gsmarena.com/xia…php

Its strange they don't do a Redmi 4 Prime global version, that's the one I think people would want, 5", 1080p screen, sd625 and band 20. Maybe they will release a global version of the new Redmi 5..

OP might want to correct the spelling in the title, from Xaomi to Xiaomi. Some people might think this deal is for a counterfeit.

My Redmi 3S just shat itself and no longer connects to the network. Common problem with xiaomi apparently.

Yup - mine started doing this occasionally after 6 months (does it every couple of weeks or so now).
Fix is to bring up "Phone Information 1" and select LTE/WCDMA. For some reason it occasionally forgets this and switches to TD-SCDMA (which is slow and useless)

I got this (international version) for my 12 year old a couple of weeks ago and it's decent enough. The one and only issue we've found is that Pokemon Go is not available via the Play store, so it has to be sideloaded. You can find it on other app stores but I don't really trust them. I did it by installing Pokemon on my own phone along with apk Extractor and then sharing the apk via Google Drive. Works fine but you have to repeat this method everytime PG does an update otherwise it stops working.

Is this a decent phone? I've had Windows phones for the last few years but am making the switch to android due to growing tired of the lack of apps for Windows devices. I currently have a 2 year old Blu phone running Windows 8.1. Would this be a significant upgrade? What are the downsides? Thanks in advance for any help and advice

I have one of these and must say quite impressed. Mind you, did you know you can update your Blu phone to windows 10? I have one too, to update it you need to download the Microsoft upgrade advisor app from the store. It improves the phone massively, though obviously you won't get anymore apps than at present.

All 3 of our Xiaomi phones receive regular updates though can't specifically say that they include monthly Android security patches. Been very impressed (since purchased 4 more for friends and family) with them. Great battery life, built well and no issues (oldest is 12 months). Cameras are patchy in low light though I don't expect DSLR quality from a mobile.
