Great reviews, excellent price for the spec. If people are willing to take the risk of an import phone then it's a really good price.
It appears to the International version (so has the Google Apps etc) but not sure if it supports UK bands.

Nice phone. great product. Only risk is:import at this cost. I shop at these places but I am hesitant to spend that amount on imports. Voted UP

I paid £287 for this two weeks ago from tomtop (deal taken from UKHD). If you were prepared to wait it's possible you might get it a similar price.
Great phone and excellent value for money.

No xiaomi phones get regular ota updates providing it has official rom which this phone has. I have this phone for 5 weeks now fantastic phone not had update yet but will be getting MIUI 9 soon. I had redmi note 3 before i upgraded to this and in the 18 months i had it must have had about 10-12 OTA updates

I get very regular updates on my Mi5 (sometimes weekly). Would love a Mi6, but a bit too expensive for me yet and the lack of 3.5mm jack is annoying

I just bought a phone from Gearbest which arrived on Monday - except inside the unopened envelope was an empty box - no phone. Because the outer envelope was intact my guess is that the phone was stolen before it reached the courier. I'm now going through the process of trying to get Gearbest to replace it or give a refund. Don't have any confidence it will end well! But I'll gladly report back if it does.

There's another guy with you with the very same issue over in Ask at the moment. Maybe @gearbest1 can do a little damage control here, too.

Wow scary. Maybe would be a good idea to video the unboxing as evidence. I ordered a phone from Gearbest a couple of weeks ago and it just arrived two days ago perfectly fine. I paid the insurance just in case.
SteveJC to Bogami
25 Aug 17#23
Thanks - the video is a good suggestion. I'll do it if Gearbest ever send a replacement. I paid the insurance too - but I don't really think it makes any difference with them.

Will a virgin SIM work on this I thought it didn't support EE (who virgin piggyback on I believe?)

25 Aug 17#27
Yes it will, I'm on Virgin with this phone.
This doesn't have band 20 (800MHz) so in some areas may not get a 4G signal, but other bands are also used for 4G and I still get a good 4G signal in my area

Bought a Xiaomi MI5 from gearbest recently and the box arrived...sans phone! Now i'm having the faff of getting these jokers to issue a refund... I knew there was a small risk of something like this happening but I won't be buying from them again as their after sales is very poor. (However they do pull their finger out once you get paypal involved).
*If you do decide to buy from any of these Chinese stores (gearbest, banggood ect ect) always use a credit card or paypal)
Thanks! Will refer to this list for future purchases...:)

I beg to differ i had a redmi note 3 from launch 18 months ago and in that time i have had 10 or 12 OTA updates it came with MIUI 7 based on android 6 ( lollypop ), it then had around about 7 MIUI 7 updates in as many months. Then it ota to MIUI 8 and a further couple of MIUI 8 OTA updates one of which was based on android 7 (marshmallow), all that in the first 12 months. Then had a couple more OTA for MIUI 8. I have upgraded to a MI6 now had that about 5 weeks now and last week got another OTA for the redmi note 3 which i have not updated yet as my daughter using it at the moment. Now if you had a xiaomi phone and never had OTA updates then it couldn't have had a official rom on it probably a vendors custom rom
LukeyWolf to BUCKUM2
26 Aug 17#32
Uhh the phone came out when Marshmallow was a few months old (Should of come with it), it went from MIUI 7 (Android 5) to MIUI 8 (Android 6) that took them the time Nougat was fully released, the updates are just bug fixes for gods sake a lower end device from Samsung is releasing a Nougat update for their J5 (2016) soon also I own the Redmi Note 3 and despise Xiaomi for their lack of support for their devices (Mainly Redmi) which is also why I won't buy a Xiaomi device again until they sort their shit out
BUCKUM2 to LukeyWolf
26 Aug 17#33
The MIUI updates are not all bug fixes they also introduce new features and optimisations you should read the release logs Also the redmi note 3 is to get the MIUI 9 update so will be getting Nougat the redmi note 2 is to get it as well. So that will be 2 android updates (from 5 to 7) since its release while most phones only get one
LukeyWolf to BUCKUM2
26 Aug 17#36
MIUI9 is not guaranteed to be Nougat, just have to wait and see
dreadzone101 to BUCKUM2
27 Aug 17#39
MIUI 9 does not equal Nougat. The Android version is phone dependant and not down to MIUI version. Redmi Note 2 is still Lollipop with MIUI 8. Getting MIUI 9 does not mean it will be upgraded from Lollipop to Nougat. MIUI 8 covers KitKat through to Nougat which will be the same for MIUI 9. There are many older devices that will receive MIUI 9, which are currently on KitKat with MIUI 8, such as the Redmi 1S. MIUI 9 won't change that. Redmi Note 3 getting Nougat is questionable. RN3 MTK remains Lollipop whereas RN3 SD got Marshmallow. Similarly the RN4 MTK remains Marshmallow whereas the RN4 SD got Nougat.

Xiaomi is not Nokia who make phones to sell in Europe. They make phones for China only . To try using their phones abroad is a mistake with missing bands etc. Better buy Oneplus as they send directly from China but cater to customers abroad and give European warranty

I got the MI6 128gb a few weeks ago from Gearbest, no import duty and took 10 days to arrive via Yodel. It's working fine running a EE sim. It came with the international ROM but flash the Xiaomi.eu ROM with miui9 and all is good.
