I've had this phone since it launched and I can't relate to the comments here. Obviously the phone does not come with malware (unless a retailer has put some on). You should be aware though that unlike many Xiaomi phones, there is no official global rom, only Chinese. There have been lots of rom updates and the phone will get MIUI 9 on the 25th of this month. Battery life and camera are good. The performance would about the same as a SD 625. I actually love that it's plastic. It's very light I can throw it around / drop it without worrying. I don't have any scratches even though I've treated it badly and never used a case. Having said all that most people would probably be better off with something else, but if you have patience to fiddle with it, this is a good price.

It's a pretty old design now. IMO better to go with the Redmi 4x Global for similar money - a work colleague has one and is getting at least 2 days of pretty heavy usage from the battery (4100 mAh). Not FHD screen but metal build and very good fingerprint sensor...

My daughter had one of these (blue), but there were no ROM updates and the battery doesn't last very long. Also had to change the battery and eventually put CM13 on there for use as a spare. She now has the 3S which lasts over a day and allows multiple applications to be open, which crashed the Mi4C.

I bought one of those a year and half ago . You need to root it because the Chinese malware and software makes you mad . The battery after six months lost half of its power and started to do crazy things like switching off at 30 % . The screen is no where close to gorilla glass . You can scratch It even with your nail . And the body is all plastic . I would stay away even in that price . But it was a strong and fast phone despite all its flaws .

Easy to add an official Xiaomi ROM but the reviews I read did point out the screen requires (a tempered glass) protector

I had the same problem with malware on the phone and the same battery issues. Now the battery won't charge and the phone is dead because of it. Is there any fix for the battery issue?
This is not what I expected from xiaomi. Definitely do not recommend anyone to buy this phone.

Good phone for the money, especially with 3GB/32GB. Quite similar to the Redmi 4, same screen but the phone is slightly smaller and lighter. Less battery capacity but type-c connector with fast charge.
