£369? Crazy price. 90 of these. (credit simplemick)

OK, this is a weird one. Heads up, deal? I'm not sure.

You can pay for the Xbox One X (and I assume other items at the Microsoft Store) using your Microsoft balance...

2769661.jpg
Yes, I only have £1.04 in my account...not far to go now

You can grab a £50 top up from CDKeys [here]. 9 x £46.99 = £422.91. You could use the 5% discount on 2 separate accounts (max purchase 5 per order) to drop the price down to £401.76.

Bargain, right?

I'm not aware of any terms or conditions that would prevent this from working. If you know of any please do let me know. I would suggest contacting Microsoft via their chat service to establish whether loading £450 worth of Xbox credit is going to allow you to purchase the XBOX.

The name Xbox is a poke at Sony.
If you look at the PS controller the bottom button is an X, the left button is a square, or box..
On the 360 that's how many degrees are in the right button, the circle.

Thing is, it seems Microsoft are referencing the original Xbox a lot with the X. The box art on the Scorpio edition depicts the X that is in the design of the original Xbox. BC for the games. The abbreviation. They even print the years of each Xbox release on the side of the Scorpio edition.

Just placed my order.. Bought a load of credit from SCDKeys and CDKeys until I had enough to cover the order cost for the XBX and an additional Elite controller. But like SuperCat said above, I couldn't get through checkout and received the "Insufficient funds" message.

Rang them up, they didn't mention anything about not being able place the order on just account balance but proceeded to place the order over the phone for me. All went through fine and received the confirmation email. Happy days!

Incidentally, my mate just did the same as me and his order went through fine online (all on account balance).

Yes, it is well known.

It is just another company trying to confuse their customer.

The worst company that did this is Apple for their iPad series:
iPad,
iPad 2,
"the new ipad",
"iPad with retina",
iPad Air,
iPad Air 2
and now let's call it just iPad again.

If anyone has purchased the console in a rush and have not maximised their Microsoft account credit then I think there is still time.

Scdkey cancelled my 88 x £5 code order but I had already received my two initial £5 "test purchase" codes from them.

I decided to go through with the order at Microsoft anyway as the wording throughout checkout gives the impression that they would take whatever credit balance that is available before using my "backup" credit card payment. This is done at dispatch.

I believe that there is still time to top-up the Microsoft account balance anytime before the release date.

Even though I only had £10 Microsoft credit it should be possible to increase it to £445 and then automatically pay the £4.99 balance using the backup credit card or PayPal account.

The initial confusing advice given by Microsoft was due to people asking whether if it was possible to purchase the console using credit only. Since the Microsoft account payment is only deducted at dispatch and it is not possible to "reserve" any specific amount for this order alone, they required a backup payment method too.

A scenario would be that you would have exactly £450 credit and purchased the console but then during the period before release date you would spend the credit on something else. On the release date they would not be able to process the payment without a backup payment method to make up the difference.

However, it is possible they subsequently changed things though.

No, SlimyJo is not correct. The CPU is a bottleneck in these systems but that just means that framerate will be limited on them to 30 fps on CPU heavy games. The GPU handles the graphics so to say there won’t be any difference is just simply not true. Are you also suggesting that there is no difference between a GTX 970 and GTX 1070 if you don’t replace your CPU? That’s what I did in my PC and I still haven’t replaced my i5 processor, yet I can max games out again and even play in native 4K30 on some games.

If you want 60fps on all games, then the PS4 Pro and X1X aren’t going to give you that, but, they will give you better looking games at higher resolutions with better textures, AA, AF etc.

Thanks OP - ordered using SCDkey method.

Just to help anyone out - I was unable to purchase console using 100% Microsoft Credit - i kept getting insufficient funds message. I rang Microsoft and they said you couldnt pay 100% using credit. I went to purchase a cheap 79p add on for Forza Horizon 3 and then retried the purchase and it went through.

Also there is no need to pay for express delivery as you should receive the console on Day 1 using standard free delivery.

Also - i purchases £150 worth of credit late last night from SCDkeys then i was put on hold for verification - that completed this morning and i then purchased the remaining credit from them this morning before 9am.

Haha.. I've bought £350 worth last night (redeemed) but they're no longer fulfilling new orders with the excuse they're out of stock (non-sense). CDKeys have £50 cards at £46.99. Not the best of deals but better than no discount.

*** DO NOT TRY SCDKEYS ***

I've tried the scdkeys trick, ordered 90 £5 vouchers ... first they said they needed 12 hours. Then they required me to verify my email and send them a scan of my driving license (which I did). Then they said another 6 hours. 10 hours after that they have refunded the order! I paid with PayPal and now I have to wait a week to get the hundreds of pounds back.

Not really, the cpu is basically frame rate so 30fps same as pro but games will look quite some better on Xbox one GPU side as that’s the 4k, assets, textures are ram draw distance so to say no difference you must not know how things work

The GPU in the Xbox One and PS4 Pro are more than capable of outputting high end graphics but the problems lay in the CPU. The poor quality CPU on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X are what brings the performance down (i.e bottlenecking) and neither console will ever be as good as Microsoft and Sony make them out to be (Microsoft are the worst for marketing). The small increase in power of 2.3ghz over 2.1ghz is not going to make any difference especially on an cheap CPU. So SimyJo is right in pointing out the pointless upgrade and ignoring the GPU stats as they make no difference. Microsoft should be focusing on exclusive titles or the next gen instead of bringing out another console especially so late.

I have noticed a fair few acting up today and I don't understand why. Even after the XOX PlayStation is still going to be the top console. Microsoft's first party lineup is extremely poor even as a PC gamer am disappointed in them. It's not like the XOX games are going to look a million times better than the Pro far from it. Also due to the poor CPU in the XOX it's not like all 30FPS games will be upgraded to 60FPS.

Am not crapping on MS about the CPU by the way I understand why they stuck with the crappy Jaguar (same with Sony and the Pro). It's what really annoys me about the Pro and the XOX both have really good GPU's but are paired with a rotten potato of a CPU. It's like building a PC and pairing a GTX 1080 TI with an AMD FX 8120. Not only is the 8120 really bad now. But it was also really bad when it released back in 2012. Can you just imagine if both Sony and Microsoft waited to release the Pro and X and slapped in a Ryzen CPU instead of a downclocked 8120? 30FPS gaming would of been a thing of the past for consoles.

I only owned a 360 last gen and have both the ps4 And xbone so there goes that arguement out the window for you. The only games I have for the xbone are gears 4, gears collection and halo. My controller broke halfway through gears 4 and even it's gone drastically downhill since judgement. I haven't even been bothered enough to send it away to get repaired.

An utter, utter waste of money

You know, a better product won't suddenly make your playstation any worse. As stated the XBoX is clearly more powerful. Even with your poor comparison you can't compare the GHz rating from different CPUs. Whether people think it's worth the cost is up to them, but you are getting a respectable amount of console for the money.

21 Aug 17 #48
Can you change the payment method after ordering? E.g set it as card now then update the order to pay it off with Microsoft balance at a later time?

Edit - MS say you can't and SCDKeys are saying 12 hours for delivery of my order. Shambles! Trying to get a refund from them now as I don't want to be lumbered with hundreds of MS account balance for nothing.

its just the same as always, ps4 fanboys. This will clearly be the better console, but they got a lot of people to persuade that its the real deal unlike the ps4 pro. Ive order one which no doubt I might cancel as I have a more powerful laptop that I can play most of the games on. The missing information that's pretty annoying that would sell more system would be does it play games better at 1080p higher FPS ? They just keep spouting about 4k, I don't know anyone with a 4k TV !

I’m a PS4 Pro / PC user. Don’t intend on buying the X1X due to my PC being more capable and also being able to play the X1 exclusives there, but I do find these threads funny seeing all the silly comments, especially those downplaying the specs of the X1X. The game list wars will start soon no doubt.

Really don’t get the hate on X1X considering this should lead to better support for PS4 Pro users too.

"Xbox One X has an octa-core processor, with eight custom x86 cores running at 2.3GHz.

The PS4 Pro also has an octa-core CPU, the x86-64 "Jaguar", but runs slower at 2.1GHz".
.....

So much for it being "vastly more powerful" - 0.2 ghz faster! Lol!.

Plus it doesn't have anywhere near as many games and exclusives. PS4 Pro it is then!.

So, maybe you could pay for £445.00 of it using Gift Cards and then they can take £4.99 from your Debit/Credit Card just before release?
