Just spoke to local Game. The deal is scanning through at £250.

As for those on about better deals. I don't think prices will drop that much. For example, if I got this from game, I'd trade in Ghost Recon/Agents Mayhem, and that would give me a 1TB Xbox S with Forza/GOW + the other games for £200.

Wifey did and they told her the bundle they had was £299... Chap at the central office thought it was an online only deal - but that isn't started on the website :? I can only think the colleague in-store was referring to the other bundle with four games and the 1 month NowTV movie pass...

It was the manager that refused to even try it saying it won’t work regardless. Proper miserable sod. Didn’t wanna know. I said I’d rather buy it in store so their number of sales are higher and hopefully help keep shops open instead of watching all these high street shops disappear but he just wasn’t interested. Man my Xbox One has sat around doing nothing since launch, it's not a good console and the UI is so slow and a mess. On top of that I cannot think of any exclusive I want to play, where as the PS4 has loads, especially thanx to the resurgence in Japan. That said I mainly play on PC so both of them only get exclusive use and all the third party stuff I play on PC.

Cool story bro

You do realise that the OS on the One has been tweaked and improved a lot since launch don't you? Mine works fine, and I don't really care if there are no exclusives you want to play as I don't buy consoles and games for your benefit. The switch is in a niche, it's not really in the ps4 vs Xbox one race, Nintendo have always been the odd one out as they have a lot of games the other two don't. A lot of gamers who want the switch also have a ps4 or xbone, so it's not really comparable

I am the first to put my hands up and admit this is a decent deal at first look but give give it a second thought and it's being a offered for a reason..........

Like there is a far more powerful Xbone coming out in a couple of months time and no trader is going to give you much trade in on this model, nor are you going to be able to get decent money on it if you try flogging the thing privately.

May sound harsh but I would put it out there it's an impatient not to mention pointless purchase, no matter how many games they are lobbing in
Splashmo
27 Aug 17 #76
| must admit, coming from the PS4 dashboard, and having used the dashboard on the Xbox 360 back in the day, the One S dash is a bit odd to me as a newcomer. I'd like to to just have a page for games, page for apps etc, but it's all just jumbled up in the same section. Apps you use last jump to the front of the first page, so check the settings, then that's there taking up half the front page. Sure I'll get used to it, but as a newbie to it, not feeling it as being very intuitive.

Several people, myself included, got this deal in store. If your branch has stock, then it will ring through at £250.
frakison
27 Aug 17 #77
I sort of agree with that, I didn't say it was perfect as its not, the main problem is MS thinking that it needs to look different all the time making it harder to get used to. You can tweak it to suit your needs though and it's neither slow or a reason not to use the system, which was my point really.
frakison
27 Aug 17 #78
Of course they are trying to clear out stock while it has higher demand, but the OneX is going to be a lot more than this, and when it comes out, it it won't render this useless?

27 Aug 17 #81
It's not harsh. It's just wrong.

The X is for enthusiasts. MS, as Sony did with the Pro, still expect the stock machine to be the bigger sellers. In a years time the bottom will not have dropped out of the Xbox One S market. I am confident when I sell my S in a years time, to pick up a by now cheaper PS 4 Pro + LOU2, I will get back 75% (£150) of what I paid (£200 after trading in Ghost Recon + Agents of Mayhem), and am more than happy with that.
Chasloyal
27 Aug 17 #82

Ever since the Pro came out last year there's no justifying buying a Slim if you're in the market for a PS4 and that didn't have even nearly what the X will have power wise.

Also a year on far more people have 4K tellies so though I agree it don't render the S useless it seems dead money to buy one now to decide 6 months or a year down the line you want an X after all to utilise everything your sexy 10 bit panel has to offer.

Like hands up I still got the original Mark 1 PS4 because I remain to be convinced the Pro is really that remarkably better plus I don't like the plain black it's only been available in.

Whilst I upgraded from the Halo collectors edition edition phat Xbone to the S a year ago and been through three different S's for aesthetic reasons since then I consider the X enough of a step up performance wise to warrant the premium price tag upgrading entails.

Hence my main point is if you don't own a PS4 by now then the Pro is the only way to go because 4K tellies are becoming cheaper by the day and thus if you don't own an Xbone yet then the X is the only logical way to go with it's launch just round the corner.

Contrary to popular belief I do acknowledge there is such a thing as freedom to choose but I am merely highlighting the fact that there will be people out there who will jump on this thinking what a great deal(which admittedly it is) who will end up regretting this impulse buy when the X drops by 100 quid six months down the line.

It's as good as nailed on the Pro will drop south, perhaps way south, of £300 quid once the X launches and it will then only be a matter of time before the X follows suit so forgive me for pointing out there will be many out there who would be well advised to keep their wallet shut for a couple of months rather buying the S because it's cheaper than 10 pence Space Raiders all of a sudden :unamused:

Edit: I bet you don't get anywhere near one and a half for it and that's coming from someone who has traded in two S's which were two months and one week old respectively in the last year but if you want to believe you'll get that dough for it go ahead
frakison
27 Aug 17 #83
I'm not saying you're wrong in the detail, I just think that you are assuming too much i.e. that people will buy this and regret in a few months and that the X will drop by £100 within six months, both of those comments are your opinion only.

My opinion is that the majority of people who care, will already know about the X and would already have a One, this is a last push to get people onto the platform before the demand inevitably drops. Look at it this way, all of the software and peripherals will work on the X, so even if you did upgrade in the short term, you would have some games and a spare controller.
Chasloyal
27 Aug 17 #84
They are only my opinions of course but with Xbox so so far behind this generation I think it's pretty safe to assume MS have already factored in a significant price drop for the X once the initial launch hype has died down and the consequent PS4 Pro price drop has achieved positive sales figures for Sony.

And of course all the peripherals work right across the Xbox One family, would be corporate suicide on an already struggling product not to do that. Blimey can you imagine the outrage if you'd have bought a Pro Controller for hundred odd quid one month to buy an S the following month and it wasn't compatible?

Matey there is digging me out saying the X is for enthusiasts only but that seems all Xbox has got this generation. Like a mixture of very few exclusives, the cross play with PC on the few 'exclusives' they do have and the casuals going with Playstation or more lately the Switch this gen have all contributed to such a lack of consumer confidence in the platform.

I realise people go with price and the cheaper the S is the more it will sell and MS will have to keep dropping the price. Easy to say because after a couple of months of topping the NPD the S fell behind the PS4 again at Christmas and then behind the Switch too as soon as it launched and that's on 'home ground' so imagine how dire it's been elsewhere!

There won't be any resell/trade in value on a console that retails at 150 quid and that's where the S price is destined to go as MS become more desperate to get it off the shelves and in to people's homes.

They are literally giving it away, have done since it launched last autumn when Tesco was selling the S FIFA bundle for £199, and it's still not gaining any traction. The X is the last throw of the dice this gen and I doubt it will do anything to save the day but it's a beefy bit of kit that will at least generate some some interest in Xbox again in the run up to the all important Christmas period.

28 Aug 17 #85
And at 150 its well worth buying. It will play all xbox one x games and with kodi for it coming soon will work as a great 4k media centre. This is offer works out around 180 if you sell all the games so we not far off.

I'll be hoping to sell my Storm Grey S for 120 quid come November hmmm most likely be less by then, that's mint with all packaging/box mint too, and with the supplied controller never having even been taken out of the box so that's brand new as such.

It's a lot of machine for just over a one'r but it ain't got the oooomph the X has and there ain't no limited edition Project Scorpio issue S's either so it's a no brainer for me as I always go for the special edition consoles when they launch, I always need the newest sexy stuff console wise! Had the Halo edition Mark 1 Xbone, the white S, traded that in for the Army Green S a couple of months later and then traded that in for the Storm Grey S the following week when it became available because it was the Storm Grey one I'd been after all along really

I had a right result on the Halo fat boy though, got a full refund on it by moaning about the power brick issues when I bought the white S, it was 11 months old at the time. Then 6 weeks later a courier arrived on my door with a big box from abroad.......the German retailer I'd bought it from the previous year had only returned the console with a new power supply  Full refund and then it comes back fixed too so I flogged it to one of the missus's mates for about a hundred quid.

Never used Kodi, as far as I knew it's all Jekyll streams of people people don't want to pay for and seeing we got Sky Q multi room full package it ain't something I've ever even looked in to.
slawziom
28 Aug 17 #87

Chasloyal
28 Aug 17 #88
Well you see enough people debating what's 'legal' and what ain't about them Kodi boxes on here, my old next door neighbour down in Buckhurst Hill used to have one to watch Jekyll Sky Sports streams.

So seeing I have always paid for our Sky for more than 20 odd years and we got our Netflix and Amazon Prime on the various devices around the house too there seems very little point in having Kodi to me but I'm always open to be persuaded to the contrary of stuff should it be beneficial to the household.
slawziom
28 Aug 17 #89
Kodi have nothing to do with kodi boxes and dodgy add ons. Itsl ike blaming android for few dodgy apps. There is plenty of legal addons you subscribe to like you do to sky just without ridiculous price. I do absolutely agree with most you wrote. The only thing i would like to point out is that if xbox one s doesnt improve your houshold set up it still might be perfect for someone else( it literally ticks all the boxes for me but at about 150).
Chasloyal
28 Aug 17 #90
The way I feel about people watching pirate streams is that if you're the sort of person willing to hoist gear out of shops, drum people's houses/business premises or rob others in the street then fair enough go for it but if you're not then you ain't just a wrong'un up but you're a wrong' un with no boxxocks which makes you a double dreg.

As I said I honestly don't know much about Kodi which is why I see no value in it or the boxes. It's exactly the same way I feel about the fire stick. Like we got 5 consoles in the house we can stream Prime content on, 3 smart televisions, laptops, smartphones and an iPad too so what purpose does it serve? We're your average household with the average household's average amount of devices so I struggle to see a market for it

A PS3, a 360, a Wii U, a PS4, an Xbone and a 3DS so I suppose that's 6 but how is that not average? We not even got any kids in the house, if we did we'd have more consoles than that! My friends with kids living at home have far more devices than us and more tellies too so I'm sorry I think you're way off the mark scoffing at my grading our gaff as average because it clearly is.

I don't do reality television and don't even live in the south east anymore, never mind Chelsea!

Not got any idea why you're giving it all the 'Mr always right' nonsense either, two consoles that have been around for over a decade, another one that failed miserably years ago and two current gen machines is hardly excessive in 2017. Then I shall also point out three of us live here so we have one telly in the front room, one telly in our room and one telly in my mum's, they may all be smart but only one is 4K which hardly stinks of Russian oligarchy status does it :unamused: my god we ain't even got a telly in the kitchen or the guest room!

So yeah I'll make you right, you must be living in a cave because though I accept there's people with less in their households than us there's also people with much much more too hence I used the term average household........absolutely no correlation between our modest three bedroom abode in rural Lincolnshire and someone living in a multi million pound pad in West London so calm yourself Beryl and pipe down please

I got two kids actually but they're grown up and living with their partner and mum respectively down south so another fail with your rather comical and pathetic assumptions, and what's all the double replies all about?
