i ended up buying one of these for my xbox one now have a hefty 1.5TB left to use and this will be enough to get me through the xbox x upgrade and hopefully it will last longer than the 6 months should do me until sometime next year or beyond. shifting my other hd drives to my ps4 pro and now i can download all my games on the ps4 at my parents also.

I just received 2 of these drives. Both WD Blue disks inside, SMART data looks like this, but I'm assuming WD zeros the SMART log before sending out the refurb drives.

2nd hand mechanical hard disk where you're going to store up to 4TB of your data?
You lot must be mad.
"All recertified products carry manufacturer's limited warranty of 6 months."
That's compared to 3 YEARS for the same drive but in new, retail format.
Not even WD have confidence in their own recertified products.....

The length of warranty is a marketing choice, not an indication of likely longevity. If the warranty on the recert kit was the same as on the new kit equivalent, that would be detrimental to the new kit sales as more customers may be more likely to buy the recert. By choosing 6m warranty on the recert, WD are attempting to maintain new kit sales, not replace a new kit sale with a recert kit sale having less margin.

Marketing choice? ROTFL. They warranty is short because they don't want to be lumbered with the massive financial costs of the return / repair / replacement of hundreds of thousands of hard disks over a 3 year period.

The estimated costs of servicing warranty claims for new drives over the drives' lifetime is built into the notably higher cost of the new drives.

And if they were the same warranty length, you can guarantee the same people would be posting the likes of "why don't I get a longer warranty for paying so much more?'

A recertified drive is half the price. Odds are that it's going to last more than 3 years.

So many people are so critical. Point me in the directions of £16.25/Tb drives. This is a banging price, especially for things like burst mining.

My little buttercup these refurbished drives make the rounds on here every 6-8 weeks, we have somebody who finds them, thinks they're the first and will then post every single drive on the website while foaming at the mouth at how awesome they must be.
The ritual arguments then start with "refurbs are broken and repaired and come with very limited warranty because WD has no confidence" followed by the counter argument of "I've had 786732782364823746 of these drives and they've never failed yet". This goes on for about a week as people start posting every drive at least twice, it then goes quite for 6-8 weeks and then the posts start again.
Ever seen the Matrix? We have another few days of this before it subsides then come mid september the next influx will start.

That's an awful lot of words just to avoid writing "sorry, you're right, it hasn't been posted at this price recently".

The OP said it has already been posted, £2 is hardly worth the repost

If an item is cheaper than was posted before then obviously its a new deal it may annoy people to keep seeing the same postings but some people may not have seen it before or may think the 2 pound reduction is enough for them now to buy.
heat added and i do hope people do keep reposting deals even if others think its a waste of time as this is a community and its not just about what a certain few think of certain deals its about saving us money when we want to buy items.

If it's cheaper then it's a better deal - the previous (now invalid) should be expired
