Cheapest 4G contract I could find once combined with a 25% "mates rates" mobile discount, but still better than the rest even without it. The discount is available from Virgin Media employees for their friends/family.
Only negative is the 12 months not rolling monthly.
Virgin - 1000 minutes - 1GB Data - Unlimited texts - £4 per month ID mobile - 500 mins - 500MB data - 5000 texts - £3.99 per month Plus net - 500 mins - 500MB data - 5000 texts - £4 per month
Why choose Virgin Media?
Over 99% 4G coverage
Virgin Media service uses EE's nationwide mobile phone network. So you get over 99% coverage.
Free messaging on WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook Messenger
Chat, text, share photos and more without dipping into your data allowance. Free messaging is standard for all Virgin Media pay monthly plans.
Data Rollover as standard
Keep any unused data from one month to the next with all pay monthly Virgin Media SIMs.
My sister is in need for a similar deal (I got ours sorted but her contract has now ended elsewhere) but this deal is no longer available :disappointed: Anyone know of anything similar or if there is a way to get this still ?

Replacement sim came the next day. Didn't work for another 24 hours after though as I was using my PAC code and for some reason they said they couldn't activate the sim and port the number at the same time. Anyway, all up and running now. Signal strength much better than with TalkTalk Mobile (Vodafone) previously.

Its
only enough because you run out and go looking for WIFI; if you have a

have no friends to send your high resolution image, videos, files and

We managed just fine for years without mobile phones - in fact, we managed just fine when we had to use the phone at the end of the street or down at the post office.
We managed just fine when we only had one television channel on our wooden television set - in fact, we managed just fine when we never had a television set.
We managed to go outside and live our lives, we got on with our work/studies, we visited friends and families, we enjoyed the journeys, the scenery - we actually talked face to face, we had meals together, we enjoyed the camaraderie - we enjoyed our 'stoneage' lives.
Nowadays kids are glued to screens and they think they're living. :astonished:

I barely use anywhere near 500mb a month, because my 100mbps home internet, DSLR camera, VR enabled PC, and large television do all the things that would be needing to use up anything worth the bandwidth. But if your squeaky airtight wallet can only buy a phone to allow you to pretend you're using the latest tech and looking at all those 'high resolution' images on a tiny little screen, then I guess you'll need more data

I have an existing Virgin mobile login and the order process fell at the log in hurdle at each attempt. I used a different email address to create a new account and it went straight through.

I use 10-20GB a month.
But thats because I have it. Many people on 1GB plans get used to it and so consume to their means. I have a colleague who gets by with 1GB on her Samsung S5. That is the normal, people consuming over 10GB is not.
This is a very good deal. I have unlimited data but a paltry 200 mins. So I may take this as a second sim in my dual sim phone.

Why would you need to call 0870 numbers? Most companies have now changed their numbers to 03 so it is included in your plan. Use saynoto0870 to find alternative numbers or go onto the companies website.

I used to use this service (makefreecalls.co.uk) to make FREE international calls from my Virgin sim.

With FreedomPop, calls are made via their unreliable app, and you can't call 08 numbers from it.
Lebara use Vodafone. Lebara, FredomPop, Lyca, Vectone are all frowned upon on here.
Honestly, give the credit check SIMs a go. My credit rating is quite frankly abysmal but I have still managed to get three SIM only contracts over the past two years (2 x BT, 1 x Three). Networks are far more likely to approve people with poor credit when they only want a SIM.

I can't see £4 being beaten for more data on a reputable network for a while. If you're down at £4 contracts you're hardly a high user anyway. Taking the extra data, sitting tight for a year and seeing what's available then will work for many.
eslick to steford
8 Aug 17#37
pay £6 for 2GB data, no rolling contract so it can change with your needs, they had a 1.5GB for a fiver a couple of weeks ago and their deals change all of the time. Yes if you want to sign up to 12months this is a good deal but there are other deals around this price with more data, and more flexibility, the market is so competitive on 30 day deals at the moment, and a month or so ago Virgin were happy to offer them but now trying to force the 12 month deals as they say Ofcom are forcing them to which is totally incorrect.
I apologise, wasn't intended like that, must be a glitch my end, tried 2 different cards, might be because I already have a sim with them and any existing details they have on me are no good to them to resell on.
Thanks though, at least this deal is still active, will report it to a mod

This will be quite sufficient for most people. If all you use your phone for is browsing the net then you'll never use 1gb. If you insist on consuming copious amounts of media while on the move then obviously you'll need more, but your usage isn't the same as everyone else out there. I can manage on 1gb a month just fine. I use Spotify Premium, Netflix and Here Maps/Mapsme and can easily download what I need when I'm on wifi. Rocket science it isn't. The Stone Age (singular, there weren't multiple) it isn't. While I was in India I had up to 3gb of data a day with the sim I had out there. Did I need it? No? Did I max it out? No. Now that I'm back in the UK do I feel the need to have a huge data plan? No.

Yeah if you never use your phone for internet 1GB is just fine and dandy especially if your in your house all the time nd using WIFI. Try watching a one 1hr high quality show at the beginning of your data allowance and see how that pans out.
If your happy to watch low quality images on netflix and low quality sound when streaming music then i guess its fine, but personally i can't stand that. Its 2017 man, that's not for me..
I don't see the logic in paying £9.99 a month for the premium Spotify, plus the cost of Netflix and then scrimping on data to me that makes no sense but that's just my opinion.
Medium Quality - Watch about 2 hours per GB of data.
High Quality - Watch about 1 hour per GB of data.
Unlimited - Recommended only if you have an unlimited data plan.
This setting will stream at the highest possible quality for your device
and the content you are viewing. This may use 1 GB per 20 minutes or
more depending on your device and network speeds.

not everyone wants to sit on their phone streaming Netflix or music, there is definitely a generational gap on that one, some people just use their phone differently, if 1GB is good for you great, if not great but why moan about what others uses if beyond me. the biggest issue with this is the 12 months deal, who knows what is coming soon and the person using 1GB today might not be using that much in a few months time and with 30 day deals out there close to this, don't sign your year away.
