Genuinely, can't think of a good reason to buy a smart plug. What's the point of these?

Got a dot on prime day, and will be buying a smart plug sometime soon, purely for my Christmas tree lights. The plug is behind the tree and every year it's a pain to dive underneath to switch on and off ( set up in living room means no other option in terms of placement). So my plan is to plug tree lights in to a smart plug and hopefully get the dot to turn them on and off

I've ended with two of them. The first I bought as the plug socket behind my TV is a pain to reach. Makes it easier to turn everything off and on again if something freezes up.
The second is connected to a perfectly accessible socket and is a good example of what happens if you buy things without thinking about. I do intend to use it with my aquarium as a light timer though.

Years ago, my old man bought a pack of three plugs that came with a remote control. Does virtually the same thing, and arguably better. Think he paid about a tenner for them and still uses them today. Surely more convenient than messing about on your phone?

I had a couple of plugs like that which worked well until they both broke so the wi-fi ones were bought to replace them.
If all you want to do is to be able to turn them on and off as easily as possible then the remote controlled plugs would probably be a better option, it's not really much of a hassle though to have to use an app. I also went for the model that I did because it has a built in energy monitor and at the time I wanted to know how much electricity my gear was burning through. Made more sense to buy one device that was capable of doing both things.

Super simple explanation:
HDR means high dynamic range or lots more colours. So its like going from a crayola colour range to a dulux colour range!

HDR - high dynamic range This is so that it balances the colours better with having a wider scope of colours to choose from. Along with that the image with be brighter and more vivid.

I use Amazon on a weekly basis sometimes more often but I have to say that all their Black Friday, Bank Holiday and other deals have been absolutely crap. Cant imagine this one will be any better. Take a look on HUKD and youll find plenty of 50% off deals. How often do you get that sort of discount on Amazon if ever.

Yep ShortyRees like you I use Amazon for convenience. They can get me a delivery the next day instead of waiting days for Ebay and others. They are so mean tho. They make billions every year and yet their sales are often items that have been hiked up in price weeks before then to be reduced for their so called sales. This has been reported in the national press several times. Amazon could afford to give 50% off everything on their website and still make a profit. Instead they scam us with false sales with only the occasional so called bargain. Worse than that people buy into this, currently trending at 1419 on here .....but how.

Are the Sennheiser 598 SRs worth it at £79.99? Audio quality is important but I'm even more concerned with comfort, I've got a big head and most headphones are horrible to wear for me.

Not sure about 598's but i have a big head, big enough i dont wear caps or beanies. and i have sennheiser hd555, use them everyday with the PC all the time. Even when just browsing.

I don't have the 598s but I've got a head like an ogre (and ears to match) and always end up with Sennheiser over-ears for comfort. I'd hope they'd be good for you.

I have many headphones (Grado, Audio-Technica, AKG, Superlux, Koss etc) and I can say that these are the most comfortable. I have a big head and sticky-out ears, and there is a always real danger that I'll forget that I'm wearing them and cause damage by walking away and having them yanked off by the cable. They sound very nice also, but some might find them a little bass-light depending on what they are listening to.

Agree with freakie. I don't have a large head (at least I don't think so!) but the 598s are without a doubt the most comfortable headphones I own. Great soundstage too - very open though, yes, a little bass-shy. I paid £99 a couple of years ago during black friday and never regretted them so £80 is definitely a good price.
Just in case they sell out make sure that you go with the open 'S' edition as the closed ones are crap (I own both).
