James Cameron’s epic action, sci-fi masterpiece starring Schwarzenegger in his most iconic role, has been stunningly restored by Cameron himself. First hitting our screens in 1991 with ground-breaking special effects, this version will take the seminal blockbuster to the next level of effects and into the 21st century for a new generation of fans.
It has been 10 years since the events of Terminator. Sarah Connor’s ordeal is only just beginning as she struggles to protect her son John, the future leader of the human resistance against the machines, from a new Terminator, sent back in time to eliminate John Connor while he’s still a child.
Sarah and John don’t have to face this terrifying threat alone however. The human resistance have managed to send them an ally, a warrior from the future ordered to protect John Connor at any cost.
The battle for tomorrow has begun…

Wasn't any such illegal thing , it was the actual cinema dcp which I also tested late last night. 161gb file resolution 2k 24fps.

It's been reported that people have seen the 4K restoration at screenings a month or two back. All I know is that it was treated to a 4K scan with input from Cameron to adjust a few things.

The film has been cleaned up and rescanned in 4k, which is included on the UHD. The 3D version in theatres is a 2k downscale of that new 4k source. Hence it's the good 2k from 4k, not the poor 2k.

Enjoyed watching this again on the big screen last night. I've seen it many, many times at the cinema including in 70mm and this new 3D version certainly is the most detailed video of any version I've seen on a cinema screen. 4K or not.

What they see and what they think they are seeing is a whole different thing though. as I stated , despite the 2D version having 4K inthe file name when you go into the resolution details it's only 2k. Mr Cameron is having us all on methinks.

Well this weeks cinema release is only in 2k so wouldn't get your hopes up for a true 4K version.

The theatrical version has been restored and remastered from a 4K scan. If you're buying the UHD BD then you're buying it for the HDR and superior video compression.

You're being lied to. I had the file in front of me yesterday. 3d was 2k standard and more annoyingly the 2d despite saying 4K in the file name , when I went into the details this was also only a 2k resolution. ps the cinema file is about 150gb, can't see the blu ray version being this big so can't see how you think it will be of better quality-compressed to bits, expect it to be around 60gb at best.

Nonsense. This is a true 4k rescan, whatever illegal downloads you've seen.

I think this does have 3D. Home Cinema Choice reviewed it and said that although there is no mention of it on the front cover it does indeed have 3D. Worth double checking though. That would be a 3D blu-ray so possibly region locked.

There is a 3D release and a 4k release, this is the latter - no 3D.
The "endoarm" special pack will feature both discs.
It was shot on 35mm which means it's technically 4K yeah but it all depends on the transfer, Goodfellas was shot on 35mm and the 4K release for that is atrocious

All 4K discs are region-free. However, If you get a UHD+Blu-ray boxset then the bundled Blu-ray will be region 1.

I'm also going to see this on the big screen on Tuesday. James Cameron is getting the rights back and has new trilogy planned with Arnold starring. Apparently the first movie will explain the creation of the Terminator and the background of man whose body was used as a mould for the original T-800 (Arnold).

FYI, It's gonna be a Region A Blu-Ray but the 4K disc should be fine, Not sure about Digital, depends on what Fox use as a platform.

I think the code will be for an Ultraviolet copy through Flixster, I don't think a US code will work for a UK Account though

I have a US Flixster/UltraViolet account and I am able to redeem codes from US and UK. Can’t say for sure that it’ll work the other way around

US UV codes do work but in the past they've used iTunes and those codes would be region locked

Please be aware that this is a region A film (North America).
The 4K Blu-ray: is *region-free* (it will work perfectly)
The standard blu-ray: may be unplayable without a region A (or region-free) blu-ray player
The digital copy: may not be redeemable in the UK. I purchased John Wick from WowHD and the digital copy had to be redeemed with UVVU, which is blocked outside the US. Although you can use a proxy to access the site, it is a huge pain. Just thought I’d warn everyone.
If you’re just here for the 4k disc, go for it :raised_hand:

Sorry for my ignorance but will this play on a standard Bly ray player? I have an Xbox one and a 4K tv but haven't purchased any 4K films yet.

No, the BD will play if you have a region A Blu-ray player (the Blu-ray), but the UHD BD player will only play on UHD BD players (they don't have any region restrictions). I think the Xbox One S has a UHD BD drive, but the original One doesn't.

Love this movie, but Jesus, how many more times are they going to remaster/upscale/re-release? Keeping Cameron in Werther's Originals in his retirement.
I'm not one normally for gimmicky special editions, but this was tempting... amazon.co.uk/Ter…GK3

The thing about John Connor vanishing from existence as soon as the Terminator shuts down in the smelter, due to the time existence warp where with 'no more war' Kyle would not exist/or would not go back in time to do Sarah Connor and make John Connor?
musssy to hass123
26 Aug 17#6
if the terminator didn't bother going back in time, Kyle wouldn't either. No Kyle in the past, no tango with Sarah, no john, so if there's no john, there's no hero, terminators would have won. So really, the terminators cashed their own extinction.
Or how can john be born in the first place if his father is from the future. Camron should've kept it simple and not tried to be "clever"

Unless judgment day, the building of a time machine and Reese going back into the past is inevitable and cannot be stopped or prevented (stop one company building skynet and another one steps in)

Watch the original film again. Sarah was seeing a guy before the the events of T1 and due to see him again later, so Kyle doesn't have to be the original father of John.
In T3 the whole point of T2 was to stop John getting with Kate. Which would make sense that the same was true for T1.
Honestly outside of original 2 the only Terminator media worth watching is TSCC and Salvation.

I'm gonna see it on Tuesday at the cinema, one of my fav movies and was too young to see it back then so can't wait to see it on the big screen. No doubt they will release that version on bluray as well so you might wanna wait for that.
As for the films,1,2 are awesome, and sadly Cameron sold the rights and has said several times its been a big regret as he had ideas to carry the story on. He gets the rights to the film franchise back soon, basically not enough time for anyone else to get a new Terminator movie out before times up. Problem is he probably won't be directing unless you can wait til 2025+ as his doing Avatar 2,3,4 and 5.He did say his got big plans for Terminator as well. I'd love them to bring back the Sarah Connor Chronicles ideally on something like Netflix so more budget, longer time to write the story,10-13 episodes, no network restrictions and Lena Headey who will be free by then
