Been eyeing on these,they've come down from £999 to £899 then now £799. What hi-fi 5* rating. Best floorstanding speakers between£ 500-£1200! Tested at £1000 At £799 its a great deal. Cheapest price for the set i've ever seen. Tesco's doing it too for £799+£3 delivery charge with 799 points meaning £8 in points. But for the service i'd go for richer sounds all day long. This set of speakers should come with 5 year warranty as standard.

Thanks for that. After reading the review I linked to, and a few others, I fancy the Silvers. My nearest Richers had an open box inwalnut at £499

Don't think too much about it. It's rated 60-150W. 8 Ohms. Any decent stereo amp or AV will power them no problem.

I wouldn't recommend trusting any of them. The lure of kick-backs is such that I'd be dubious toward the word of any reviewer.
Personally, I think you're better off crowdsourcing for opinions. Wordy and objective user reviews are a handy source of info (obviously, skip the 5/5 "I just bought this and WOW!" ones), as are enthusiast forum threads. Spend a good hour or so reading up on your intended purchase, and overall, you'll get a good insight into the pro's and cons of each device, its pitfalls and quirks (which are often something that a lone reviewer will just miss altogether, whether they're being paid for the review or not), and how it differs from comparable products. Do keep in mind though that audio is a subjective thing, and if you buy something which really doesn't fit your tastes, there are return policies and regulations which can enable you to pick something else.

I wouldn't put any stock in anything What Hi-Fi says. Their credibility was always in question, but they really exposed themselves a few years ago when they started reviewing HDMI cables, and claiming explicitly that the quality of the cable made changes to the qualities of the AV data passing through it. Such a thing is obviously impossible - for data to be manipulated, it needs to be actively processed, which is something a cable simply cannot do. So, when you see a review like this, where What Hi-Fi awards a 3-star rating to an HDMI cable while complaining that it diminishes the dynamics (?), imparts an 'anemic colour palette' on the video, and has an 'insecure grasp of motion', you know that they're just making stuff up.
When they outright lie in their review of an HDMI cable, in a place where it's obvious, so easily debunkable, and so risky to their credibility, why would you think they tell the truth in areas where it's not so clear, like with loudspeaker reviews?

For a non audiophile person like me.. what hi-fi can give me a rough idea of how a product is like. They may get paid for publishing certain reviews in favour of certain products.. but i dont think the actual performance would be far off from their verdict. What hifi's reviews are just for reference.. especially when ur not an expert in the field. Not trying to be a smart ass but seriously,Can you recommend anything like what hi-fi?? Or would it be best to just check out review videos on youtube?

Okay, so, let's look at that HDMI cable review again. When What Hi-Fi gave it 3/5 bemoaning its "insecure grasp of motion", "anemic colour palette", and "lack of dynamics", do you think that gives you a realistic rough idea of how the cable performs? Do you think their verdict matches up with reality?

Don't use them as a legitimate source of a products quality. The Silver 6 sound fantastic.
