They are very useful you need one in your toolkit. The best cat related entertainment device.
He can chase the laser pointer on it. But I also use mine to measure the temperature of cat fur when he sits next to the fire in the winter. 55 degrees celsius was the highest I saw, I was worried he might burst into flames but he loved it
