Are you saying that every deal posted on here is not a deal if you already know about it? :unamused:

and for those who didn't get the email for whatever reason? Maybe they think it's a deal even if you don't, maybe they're the ones who have given it all the heat despite it not being a deal in your opinion

So Uber has some dodgy people. How many dodgy taxi drivers are there? Way more likely to be unlicensed taxi drivers than Uber - especially with Uber having full tracking of where you went and how much a journey was and what time.
Used in the Philippines to great effect. £2 for a 30 minute journey, local taxis saw a Caucasian and wanted £30.

Over 300 taxi drivers were charged with violent and sexual offences last year, including murder, child abduction and rape
I've seen quite a few of those, what do you call them, fake-taxi videos?
The things he does in his black cab to those poor woman, in exchange for a free ride, deplorable.
There is no way he is fully registered with the appropriate authorities.

Most negative comments here are from cabbies who are losing out to Uber, I hate it when people say Uber drivers assault people etc, all drivers have a feedback rating and all drivers are pco registered which means they have had all the required checks done by tfl

Been using uber taxis in London for more than 2 years now on daily basis, never had a problem, used is New York and LA without any problems, we even check when planning holidays if uber is available in those cities now, it's so convenient and easy to catch.

Used Uber a few times, really handy if you don't know the area and local cab numbers, better than rip off Black Cabs.

Well obviously you are not going to get abused everytime. But it's statistically 200% more likely than getting a licenced Taxi with a CRB checked driver.

Uber drivers are dbs checked as well though

In the UK, all Uber drivers are CRB checked and need a private hire licence from the local council, just like any other taxi company aren't they?
Is this confirmed? Great offer eitherway! Thanks OP!

If you value the safety of your loved ones, especially wives, mums, daughters, etc, don't use Uber. Just one of the many many stories of what happens when you let unlicenced people loose in the public realm
The requirements to be an Uber Driver is you need a Private Hire licence & whatever else the council stipulates Uber operate in. So this is no different to any other Private Hire companies. So stop talking crap about being unlicensed. In my town, Private Hire Cabs have a Triangle on the door. Taxi's have a circle. Private Hire are not allowed to use taxi ranks, or stop if they are flagged down & only do pre-booked bookings.
mudddy to Northerndave

You do realise that the article you quote actually says that out of a total of 154 taxi drivers accused of sexual assaults 32 were Uber drivers. So Uber is actually safer than other types of taxi transport.
MarkOfTheDead to mudddy
17 Aug 17#36
Came here to post this. Uber drivers are not the only ones accused of this kind of behaviour. That said, it does point out there are many types of private hire drivers included in this figure. so the remainder are not all standard taxi drivers either

I'm a Londoner and Black Cabs are mostly for tourists and out-of-towners who don't know they're being ripped off.
I appreciate the amount of studying that goes into becoming a Black Cabbie, but with Sat Nav and Uber, there's no point anymore. Now you get them all over Twitter, constantly being bitter about Uber, posting articles and fake stats, it's sad.

Someone said they expire in 6 months? But in terms and condition on Tesco website on additional information for uber link it says: Gift Card, and Gift Card funds never expire.
Does it actually show in uber app the expiry date of only 6 months
also any chance in future they will do offer of 4x instead of just 3x
Btw thanks for posting this deal as I didn't know about it till I saw it on here,as never saw any email about the offer or letters.

Can anyone confirm how this credit is added to your uber account? Can the credit be used on any Uber account, i.e. split between me and my wife, or is it locked to a Clubcard somehow in the Uber App?

No it's same app all over the world, just make sure you have mobile data allowance on your sim package, we used three pay as you go feel at home sim in USA, we put £15 bundle that gives you 5GB data 3000 minutes and 3000 text for 30 days.

Read the T&C, looks like credit can only be used in the UK. Also, credit is only valid for 6 months, I have just applied the code to my account.

18 Aug 17#49
Does anyone know, is this credit once applied to your Uber account fine to use in the USA? I don't see anything that says specifically it's not? We are going to Orlando in October and planning on using Uber to get about so this would be perfect. However there's no Uber service where I live so if we can't see the credit in the US it would be a waste!
Edit: Oh ignore me, I just saw this in the T&Cs You can only redeem the voucher via the Uber app to use within the UK, and in areas where Uber is available.
Bah.

Credit never expires, yes you have 6 months to use the Tesco voucher once sent to your email but once applied to uber it should not expire, it want have an expiry date.
I verified it with Uber, but please feel free to ask yourself should you have a concern about the expiry.

Speak to your local police station about how many Uber sexual assaults they've been. I definitely would not be taking the risk. Advise females to steer clear. The UBER company is not as transparent as UK based companies as they do not have to hand any information over without a court order. So if the police have a possible suspect, unless it's concrete evidence, the chances are slim of getting a court order. The tracking of drivers is poor when compared to registered taxi drivers. An UBER taxi driver can choose to not log a journey and carry out an assault. Steer clear. The police are happy to let you know the dangers. Just ask!
