Obviously not literally the best phone on the market, but it's a mid-ranger. And for that price, heat added.

Not used them myself but when they get mentioned on here reports aren't good. Id you get import tax added on you might as well buy from this deal, I bet it'll be easier returning it to the uk as well.

Problem with these Websites is they are grey market, meaning your warranty most likely won't be valid in the UK and only the country of origin. Thats also how they offer low prices, as they as they aren't being taxed by UK and they avoid import fees by sending item listed with a lower value. One thing to check as well is that not all frequency bands are always available on the handsets, due to them being made for different regions and so 4G coverage could be effected etc.
Wish this had been on offer 3 weeks ago. Great price.

Reviews don't seem good. This might be a lot to do with the price at release. Is it worth waiting for the moto g5s+?

The Moto G5 Plus benchmarks much higher and is cheaper with codes on the Moto site.

Nope, they don't do refunds. I embarrassed myself by going in and exchanging for a £10 phone getting the bulk of my money back so I can get this Sony

Huh? So you exchanged it for a £10 phone and they refunded you the rest?

Yes with sim free phones at Carphone Warehouse they let you exchange once

I bought mine with a £10 O2 SIM... I guess I can't do what you did then...
Saying that, I've not really had any issues with the Nokia. I like that it's pure Android.
I paid £189 minus selling the sim for £10, so not sure I can justify £50 to go to the Sony...

I've had the Xperia X for about 3 months now when it was £269 in Argos. Cannot fault it, I don't get any lag, quality camera, battery life is good (will go a whole day with a fair bit of use, playing music for a couple of hours, messaging, the odd call, etc). Only downfall is the delay in pressing the button to photos being taken, but I've found this with all Sony Xperias. This one has even survived being fully submerged in a tub of emulsion!

I've recently bought a phone and a camera from eGlobal, in two separate transactions. Each was delivered from the UK; one by DHL, the other by DPD, and both within a week of ordering. eGlobal ship customer orders into the UK in bulk, where they clear customs, and they pay the duty and VAT.
They have a very visible online presence, so I would imagine that their activities are under clear HMRC scrutiny.
I would happily buy from eGlobal again - and please note: I HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH THE COMPANY.

Bought it around this time a year ago for £350, not the best deal I know, but since then I have had absolutely zero problems with it and it I haven't regretted it. 10 Aug 17#63
What benchmarks have you looked at to come to that conclusion? The Snapdragon 650 in the Sony Xperia X is a more powerful processor than the Snapdragon 625 in the Moto G5 Plus despite being lower clock speed and less cores. All performance benchmarks are higher for the Sony Xperia X (Antutu, Geekbench etc). The SD625 is a more efficient processor, therefore the Moto G5 Plus will have better battery life but that's about it.

Maybe I misread things then. However, battery life doesn't appear to be great for this Sony either...

I really liked my sony z1 and this seems like a good deal, however I am like a lot of people on here and there always seems to be a better phone around the corner, plus my P8Lite 2017 already comes with Nougat and does what I need (I cracked the screen and my daughter is happy to have it when I can find a replacement) Looking at the G5s plus once available and hoping for the usual moto code stacks after release. I recognise I suffer with buyers remorse and just need to commit.

Upgraded from Z3 compact to xperia X compact earlier this year and I'm very happy with it. 7 months and not a single issue. Solid phone. Dropped it a few times and screen is still intact. Paid £340 for it so this is a great price.

DanielPritchard
10 Aug 17#68
Am in the same boat. Have Z3 compact. Really great phone imo. But battery is dying. Contract up for renewal this week. Wasn't really considering a Sony, but at this price I think I may bite. The Xz model think would be s worthy upgrade, but price is too steep for me..
V6ALFISTI
10 Aug 17#69
I have the X Compact, which is like the Xperia X but smaller (z3 screen size) but with the addition of USB C and laser focus on the camera.
It doesn't feel any slower than the Z3 compact I used to have, the screen is significantly brighter, the battery life is great (my Z3C was excellent new, but slowly dropped in performance) and the camera is impressive if not market leading (helped by the laser focus of the X Compact).
I have noticed however that when recording video, the file it stores often has a slight pause in it which suggests the GPU/processor either wasn't quite fast enough to convert the file or it has issues playing back the file. I suspect the former.
There is a new range of Sony's coming shortly I believe incluiding a top end compact, if you want a powerhouse wait for that (but be prepared to pay for it!) or get this more than adequate phone.

I think I'd prefer the X compact for the better camera and charging. Doesn't seem to be available from a UK provider below £299 tho.
V6ALFISTI
10 Aug 17#73
They aren't particularly cheap, the X does appear to be dropping much quicker probably due to there being limited sub 5inch screen with the camera/processor and later USB C charge format.
You could probably pick up a Grade A X Compact from a refurb/grading company for similar to this.

I bought one today too, I've found the default keyboard is responsive, but keeps giving the wrong word, so I've installed google keyboard and that's working perfectly.

Thanks for posting this. I dropped and broke (dead) my old M2 this morning and then came on and saw this. That will do nicely, A couple of extra pounds via Quidco, Argos has one down the road from me, paid and ready for collection already. Hi.
I was just about to bite and decided to do a quick Google search. It is showing up on eglobal for £181.99 in white. So a £50 saving.
Can someone confirm whether this is the same phone. Also, I've ordered from gearbest, banggood etc but never from eglobal. Any one have any experience with them.

Yep no regrets. It's much faster and overoall a bertter phone. and Just make sure that your SD card is a good one. If you use a cheap one you'll have problems eg. saving pictures/vids which some people blamed on the phone but in my case it was a rubbish sd card.

Great phone, bought to replace an S7 with a cracked screen.
Didn't fancy the £200 repair cost.
Obvious omissions from the S7 is no wireless charging and second screen.
Pros * lovely 1080 screen * size is a sweet spot for me, 5" screen, decent screen to bezel sizes (thin) * decent stereo speakers * good call quality * buttery smooth, 650 SD, feels on par with the S7 though, because of the near stock android. Difference probably more obvious under heavy load. * Excellent finger print scanner
Cons * Average battery life (2600mh) * Average camera performance * Average GPS performance
Good deal at this price if you want to avoid the typical Chinese imports.
