This ain't fibre so it's useless for most people

True, I was going to sign up but not available in my area :disappointed:

ADSL is far from useless. Some people don't have fibre available. Most people don't do anything that requires more than the 17mbit that ADSL can provide. I don't even get half that anyway.
If it's not fibre it's 17mbit

"If it's not fibre it's 17Mb" - nonsense. ADSL2+ is UP TO 17Mb - unless you're VERY close to the exchange you'll be well under. Oh and fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) IS ADSL (asymmetrical digital). BT Openreach (usually) run fibre from the exchange to the cabinet -what speed you get for fibre broadband depends how close you are to the cabinet and how good your copper cable is.

Agreed, but we are about 1km from the exchange and get 17mbps. Fibre is available for us too but doesn't seem much point paying extra for it, it will only be around double the speed. Fibre should be a no cost option though for areas where adsl is poor (eg below 5mbps), where I used to live could just about stream iplayer and only if plugged straight into the router, it was next to useless.

Yeah that is kinda what I meant - just rubbishly worded on my end. I know all about ADSL, line attenuation and SNR cause that is all available to me.

Rediculous comment. The fact is that fibre is completely unnecessary for most people. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am not a very technical person. Would the line rental get me a telephone line as well. One people can call me on? Many thanks for the answer in adance. I am looking for a broasband/telephone deal (possibly with BT) for £20 and under.

Yes, "Line Rental" is the same as landline telephone line.
The deal in this thread is by Sky though (not BT). Having said that, I found no difference whatsoever between a BT & Sky supplied telephone line. They will also let you keep your original telephone number.
Already posted, presumably they didn't get many bites due to it being down voted into oblivion.

Just looked into this.
My wife is the TV account holder so I went through sales in my name and the deal is available. Will let me buy, possibly with the £100 MasterCard claim back and possible £55 Quidco cashback.
Also possible to get the capped 25gb fire pack for £5 a month with the half price line rental making £14.50 for fibre. With £100 MasterCard and £55 CB on a 12 month contract that looks not too bad. Plus the fibre line is active at the end of contract meaning a easier to move providers after 12 months.
Now to get the Mrs to call retentions when she's home from work. Though we have just renewed TV with them at half package price for the third year so unsure if they will tolerate a cheap BB deal too. Worth a shot though!

My 12 month contract with sky is up this week, think they'd match this as a retention deal? Could quote the EE deal and see if they'll match?

Could you add the speed into the title please? Makes it hard to search when there's no info about whether it's 38mb/76mb etc Thanks

If you goto mse website and search it there, you will get then see this deal. I think due to HUKD policy you can not add third party website or comparing website links, thats why OP did not add direct link.

Shame about the setup fee, MSE were running this without the setup fee recently which would have made this even better... but still a good deal nevertheless.
