When there are so many 30 day deals around this price makes no sense signing a 12 month deal with these guys.

I disagree, searching around for 8GB (currently 4GB) this is the best deal without having to do redemptions or getting cash back extra. So it's a hot deal surely
Aldnoah to m_zafar

Not 8GB but ID Mobile has 6GB 1000/5000 for £12 with DR and it's a 30 day rolling. That's better than this one since you can jump off whenever if you see a better deal. Don't know about others but i'd never go back to the 12 month contract trap after escaping it. Love my freedom :joy:

With what's app messaging excluded from the usage and unused data rollover it's a fair price

2 Aug 17#5
It's a fair price, agreed. But if you want to test the waters for signal in your area then Plusnet with their 30 day sims are ideal to make sure EE signal masts are doing the business before signing a 12 month deal.
Say for example go to plusnet for 2 months, then when you are happy with signal for voice and data speeds in and around your area, go over to a Virgin/EE deal.
margamboy to shifty277
2 Aug 17#6
Just be careful with that approach as PN signal will not be as good as VM. They all pay EE to use the service, some more than others and it's known fact that PN are back of the queue when it comes to access, VM get preferential access to the service over PN. EE will then be the best and best speeds overall.
BT own PN but prices are cheaper with PN because they spend less with EE.

Just let you know BT owns both companies Plusnet and EE....Both of these companies are BT...Show me evidence that VM get preferential access to the service over Plusnet.

Surely you're better getting a payg sim to try out? Plenty of buy an EE sim from the EE eBay shop for a quid with a fiver credit preloaded rather than paying a couple of months line rental.

I was on a similar deal with VM, on the face of it, it is a hot deal but in reality it's crap, because important calls get bypassed to your voicemail when you have full signal, and on top of that you won't get a message to say you have the (important) voice mail until hours later. This happened with more than one phone, so I know it was the network, in the end I left and I've not looked back. I'm not a Virgin hater as I still have the TV and Broadband package, but I wouldn't touch their mobile network with a bargepole.

just moved 3 mobiles to plusnet from virgin and service is uk based great.when i tried to get virgin to match plusnet deal it was no go and promised to phone back with better deals and never did.Advantage of 30 day rolling is great rather than a year with virgin

Is the data rollover on the whole 8GB?
Keith9534 to sdaviso2
3 Aug 17#16
Rollover is only for the next 30 days and ONLY on the contract amount of data ( so if they quadrupal the data fro 1gb to 4gb, only 1 gb rolls over )

Picked this deal up a couple days ago. BT raised my sim price by a fiver after I left their god awful broadband service, so £21 for a 20GB contract didn't seem too appealing given I use an average of 5GB.
Data rollover is the key thing here. I also like how their phone contracts are set up the same way as O2 refresh.

Really don't go with ID Mobile - just read reviews on Trustpilot. They are the worst of the worst if you ever need support, exceed your data limit or want to change tariffs.
Go with PlusNet if you want 30 days rolling but not ID. The virgin deal is a good one and support is good once you get through. They wont lie to you or scam you like ID mobile do.

How exactly has ID tried scamming you? I switched from virgin to ID a few years ago now and I've never looked back, they are far and away superior to Virgin mobile. The only minor issue I had with ID was when I wanted to switch to another one of their deals, but you had to move your number to another network and back again to keep it. Besides from this they've been ace, CS answered within a few minutes (when I called to switch deals), their app is the best I've used on a network, tells you exactly what minutes/texts/data you have left, and you can cap your bill so you don't overspend on extra minutes/texts/data outside your package. Reception has been excellent, in fact when I went to Wales with the Mrs, I got better reception than her on O2. I have seen the negative reviews on trust pilot and to be quite honest, they're BS! They've been an excellent network. I've never used O2, EE, Plusnet, so wouldn't know how it compares to them, but it's better than my experience with Virgin and Vodafone (I was with Orange before that).

If you want total freedom then go for it since it's not even a 30 day rolling, so you can join today and quit tomorrow if you wanted to but value for money-wise the Plusnet and IDM deals are way better also from experience I can tell you GiffGaff's 4G is horrendous and shouldn't be called 4G.

I got it via retentions. At first they said there were no deals with 8gb + tethering for under £14, but after giving me my PAC, I called back again the next day (couldn't find anything better than what I already had!) and another person gave me this deal for £10. YMMV

Tempted by this for me and my wife, our EE contracts are up this month and I'm a VM customer, I know EE won't offer anything like this and we're still happy with current phones so sim only might be good for us but will we notice any difference in service from EE to VM?

EE offered me as a retention deal 4gb of their top speed 4g data, unlimited calls and texts and 12 months free of the bt sport mobile app for £9.99 a month (12 months contract) on both my sim only contracts. Not quite the same but use these deals to haggle a half decent one from ee. They seem to throw this 4gb deal at everyone to retain their custom looking at different threads on here.

have a look at john lewis a hotdealers favour on trust pilot and then tell us what you think of trustpilotm saying that after having issues with virgins customer service recently I wont be using them for a long time. Was past to retentions after an issue, spoke to the customer service person who totally ignored me, when I asked if she was going to reply she said no, passed to a manager, who then told me all companies had to offer only 12 month deals after a change by OFCOM which was a total lie.
Already been with Virgin Mobile for years, so know it works ok for me, just rang and switched to the £9 option, pleased. Especially when I had been paying £28 a month before, then £12 a month, now only £9.
Just have to keep my old handset which is in bit of state, but not fussed. Too old to be 'new phone' slave to fashion, haha.

I thought this was a pretty good deal, so I ordered it. I managed to get cash back making it £8 a month. I left 3 to try for a new network and since they could not match this deal (except as a second line) I thought why not switch?
6 days and I've yet to receive it through the mail, I get an email stating my new virgin mobile sim contact starts on the date I ordered it.... And the money comes out from my account on the same day I receive the email.... So I'm getting charged on the 6 days I don't even have my sim. I call customer support to complain, same call center as 3 (I'm sure. Perhaps even for BT and BA too).
All this terrible service at even a small cost ain't worth it. Virgin services is not worth it people! Voting cold.

To be fair if the SIM was posted out on time by Virgin and then got lost in the mail system that could happen with any provider, not saying this is the case but I've always had my SIM within 2 days. I would ask for another SIM cause it does feel like it's not going to turn up.

I have never had a problem with caps, just use the phone to warn you when getting close to limit and then to restrict to wifi only once reached, it's easily done. Virgin also warn you once you get to 75% of your allowance
