What happened to the reply option? You can store apps on the sd card providing you format it (there are options) when you first put the card in. Downside is you can't then view photos and videos also recorded on it simply by putting the sd card in an adapter into your computer but you can view and copy etc with a USB lead

This would have made a good phone but Motorola decided they can make more money by cutting back on ram and storage as their prices have doubled recently. It is definitely not acceptable as smart phone, may work as feature phone OK.

They had leather(state) cases and silicone cases both with screen protectors in my local Tesco Extra today for this phone at 20p and 25p.
Probably subject to stock in your local but will help it stay childproof a little longer than without.

Not bad!, your 3 year old has been rocking a 2nd Generation Smartphone for about 1 year already?, wow!.
What will your 3 year old be rocking when they're only 5 year's old? (an iPhone 8 perhaps ... ) hehehehehe. ;-)

Internal memory 8GB. Bought my MRS one of these, filled up within a month and there was no way of moving apps or even photos to memory card.
I have just checked Argos and this phone is also available in black at the same price. :sunglasses:

Nokia 3 perhaps or the funky Alcatel A5 led? Both have 2G ram 16G onboard and expandable via micro SD. Just bought the Alcatel via GiffGaff for a present for someone as it was at least something different from the norm.

I bought, a week or two ago, a Moto C Plus for £90 and it's a 2G/16G, dual unlocked SIM version. (With Android N) from the Moto UK website. Think it had a Moto voucher for tenner off at the time (it was on their website). Nice phone.* Big battery in it too. If the offer is no longer there, then it'll be a tenner more but still free delivery.
*As a Moto G/G3/E and Huawei P9lite user for comparison, not as nippy or light the P9 lite, comfier to use like the other Moto I've had and better than them. Last longer though from a charge.

25 Aug 17#21
Talking memory ;-) Yes SD card of course and doesn't use any SIM slot.
There may be better phones at that price, depends what you are looking for.
I don't know.
But this has the purpose of needing the large battery, a nice usable screen and easy to use.
I was supprised that the C plus was a full spec up from the non-plus C version, screen, CPU, battery etc all upgraded and only a tenner more at the time.
Pop into some shops and have a look if I was you. They have demo versions you can fiddle around with and see if it works for you.
Edit/just had a look and Argos have it for the same 100 quid in red, it's a 2G/16G version if you read the comments (not 1G/16G) but packaging says on the side. Argos is single SIM though. (Wouldn't bother me, dual wasn't needed for my use).
Other may recommend other phones at that price or wait for it to drop in price somewhere.

I'll second the Moto C Plus suggestion. I bought one for my M.I.L. along with a 32gb micro sd and used the combined storage option. It's got something daft like a 4000mAh battery, should run for days for her!
EN1GMA to johnnystorm
25 Aug 17#29
So how does the combined storage option work? I've got a few spare sd cards, and ideally I want the sd card to become extra storage without any limitations.
johnnystorm to EN1GMA
25 Aug 17#35
You put your sd card in when setting it up and it merges the on-board storage, so a 16gb phone and a 32gb card gets you 48gb. Obviously you need to factor in that you lose a bit from the os and apps already on the phone. When you save any apps, pics, etc it treats all the storage as one so you don't have to think about which apps can/should I move.
It does encrypt the card so you can't just remove it to add music or take off pics if you want to, obviously to stop someone taking the card out and putting it in their phone and reading your paypal info, etc!
doveman007 to johnnystorm
17 Sep 17#51
Are you sure it encrypts the card, as Android doesn't even encrypt the internal storage unless you enable this and then it has to reboot and takes a while?
I can imagine it might mark the card so that Android won't read it in another phone but the data may still be unencrypted and easily accessed from a PC or modded phone.
johnnystorm to doveman007

If you choose Internal, things change. The device is formatted as a local, 128-bit AES encrypted EXT4 drive and mounted as part of the system every time you start your phone. It's then set as the preferred storage, and you're prompted to move data over.

Amazon are selling 8GB Fire for £30 odd (if you can live with 8GB storage, I know I can't)
My budget still £100 so anything else which you guys recommend? Other halfs current phone is driving her bonkers. It's the ultra 6. It lags, is slow and not sure if I can expand the storage to make it quicker. She's deleted apps, photos but still not quite right.

If you have Prime and another tenner then the Moto E4 is an amazing phone for £109.95. Runs brilliantly on 2gb ram, has 16gb flash so you don't need the sd card straight away. Best budget phone I've seen!

i do have prime. will have to check it out. any link for the one you have seen please?
I had two of these (one for me and one for wife). It is the worst phone we have ever had. 8gb ram however only 4gb is usable due to the OS. It's slow, constantly saying that storage is low. Buying an SD card does not help as the application being installed had to support it which most don't as it reduces speed performance of the app if it does (even if you format the SD card as internal memory). Also if you buy an SD card make sure it is the right speed that is supported as these phones seem to have an issue where they keep forcably ejecting the SD cards and corrupting the content.
