What's the benefit of the open-back so sound leakage?
And would these be useful for gaming at all?

Open back headphones usually provide a wider soundstage compared to closed back headphones. Sound leakage is a trade off however.

Honestly, so long as you're not in a situation where you're listening around others a lot and you're not a basshead - I'd always recommend openback. It's actually a really significant difference. Not only do they provide a MUCH broader soundstage, I find them more comfortable to listen to because it doesn't have the pressure build up of a closed headphone in your ear at moderate-to-high volumes.
Also, this is an incredible deal. I'd have gone for this if the Fidelio X2's weren't also on on sale for a crazy good price. For £80, you're not going to find anything better.

Well if you plan to use the headset to not disturb others around you these are not the best. You should be able to use the mic to chat online, but I'm not sure of the mic quality.
As for the audio they are amazing, they used to be the go to headphones for those who wanted the best gaming experience. I've had mine for a couple of years now, and before that I used the 595's which were just as good.
Shame I didn't see the offer before, I would have snapped up the deal, I do own a set of 598's , but I was looking at these for the mic cable.

I know I could,( I think they cost around £25 plus P+P for official ones), but for another £50 I'd have gotten myself another set of these headphones, so would have been worth it. Personally I'd prefer a boom mic attachment (Actually surprised no third party hasn't made one for the 598's) they make more sense for gaming.
I do have a third party cable I got from fleebay, though the mic is a bit quiet.

If you use Amazon Fresh and add 0.01p of more items rounding it up to £80 you can use the code AVOCADO20 and get them for £60.

Tempted. I need a new set of headphones but have just begun the search. From comments above though, these seem like a great price/quality offer. Thanks for the heads up OP.
I really don't need these, I have a pair of HD 598 that sound as good as ever... They're a bit tatty after five years, though. That's my excuse for buying these anyway. Cheers, OP.
