I don't know how anyone can ever go wrong on this, once opted in at the bottom of your selling page it shows the 100 listings in the offer,as soon as you list one item you go back to the bottom of the page and check it's gone down to 99 so you know it's working correctly.

You must be doing something wrong somewhere for it never to work for you.

18 Aug 17 #44

JoeSpur

18 Aug 17 #50
If you have a bid Ebay can charge you,if it's the first one within a year it can be waived but if not they can charge you if it has a bid on it.

We may charge a fee if you end a listing early.

.This fee is equal to the final value fee you would have paid if the listing had ended on its own and sold for the highest bid received at the time you ended the listing.

  • We charge this fee if you cancel bids and end an auction-style listing early without a buyer.

  • We don't charge this fee if you end an auction-style listing early and sell to the high bidder. (In this case, normal final value fees apply.)

  • This fee doesn't apply to listings in the Real Estate and eBay Motors vehicle categories, and the Classified Ads selling format.

Because we understand that sometimes it may be necessary to end a listing early, we don't charge a fee for the first auction-style listing you end early (where a fee applies) per calendar year (January 1 to December 31).

18 Aug 17 #56
This used to work a treat but i think eBay have measures in place now, especially on listings where you change the category.

For example, I have listed a phone before, changed to laptop during the 30 days and the listing is completely frozen out. Gets zero exposure and views; simply remains in old category with different title.

Excellent! Made the decision never to sell on eBay again unless one of these offers pop up. £9.12 fee's on a £85 sale was a mistake on my part and the last straw! Pity we can't all do that and force eBay to become a little less greedy!

Yes, but be careful of the T&Cs:

"FeesEnding an auction-style listing early once it has received a bid can lead to disappointed and frustrated buyers who may be less likely to bid on listings the next time around. For this reason, we may charge a fee if you end a listing early. This fee is equal to the final value fee you would have paid if the listing had ended on its own and sold for the highest bid received at the time you ended the listing.

  • We charge this fee if you cancel bids and end an auction-style listing early without a buyer.

I hope someone could clarify for me please because I have never took part in this offer before. - Do you have to list the item and the auction end within the four days or I can just list up to 100 items within the four day period before the offer ends and say list it for 7 days, and the final value fee, would that still be£1?
Domthedonkey
18 Aug 17 #97
The fee is a pound as long as you start it within the promotional period it doesn't matter if the auction is for 10 days for example.
Domthedonkey
18 Aug 17 #98

These promotions are regular you should have waited,on the 6th of this month there was one for 50% off final value fees.
Domthedonkey
18 Aug 17 #99
Why don't people just click on "sell similar" and not actually click to relist the item then there won't be any doubt over the fees.

You can't list something after the 21st and still get the pound fees.

HEAT!

This campaign is good for both sides. In recent years I have stopped selling on ebay when it is the usual 10%+ fees outside of these deals. Until 3-4 years ago, there weren't any practical alternatives to ebay, today there still isn't necessarily a direct, equivalent alternative but between Facebook, gumtree, and the like there are enough to make it worthwhile elsewhere. Unfortunately, ebay has also in recent years shifted to condoning dodgy and even outright fraudulent customer practices by always siding on the customers side so much so that I usually only sell high value items as cash on collection now.

I wouldn't choose that option. It definitely won't have the £1 fee if it sells after the 30 days and I'm not sure you'll get the low fee within the 30. But if chosen as 30 days from the outset, it will have the low fee. If it doesn't sell the first time around, there will probably be a similar offer in a months time.

Why do people struggle to understand the very basics of this offer?

If you are selling anything with a BIN or starting bid of over £10 then you save money.

The T&Cs aren't in small print so I'm unsure why the same questions keep getting asked?

Ebay have a monopoly in their market. Like Amazon they pay very little tax in this country. Unlike Amazon they have utterly useless customer service and if you are a seller make sure you are very prepared to deal with fraudsters.

Their whole business model and changes over the years are basically a fraudsters paradise. Especially since the one sided feedback was brought in.

Cover your back, make sure no one is following and cover it again.

Treat whatever you sell as a gamble and stress, even if you pay a fortune and get it insured when you post.

Royal Mail and Parcelforce are in the dark ages when it comes to CS and getting any kind of claim even looked into.

Don't believe me? Check these reviews out from the main branch that delivers back to Amazon if you find yourself in that position....

Amazon returns via Parcelforce Edinburgh

18 Aug 17 #113
I wonder when ebay will realise their standard listing fees are too high. I have used a few of these offers and sold around 6k worth of items. That's reduced the seller fees from £600 to £50
*Vincent*
18 Aug 17 #114
Some interesting points. Sold lots of stuff on eBay for various prices and sent to various places. From experience I'd say 98% of my buyers have been absolutely fine. It's the 2% you need to be prepared for.
Recently had someone wait till the last day of an unpaid item assistance case and then try and fob me off with an eCheque. When I cancelled the sale they threatened me with bad feedback. Haven't heard from them since.
Anything I sell over £25 I only send as tracked. I only send as tracked to South America and most of Asia and to Russia.
In the last 6 months I've only had one (maybe two) items go 'missing', and I've sent out hundreds of things.
Filling out the Royal Mail compensation form is a pain, but they always refund.
In short, as you say watch your back and be prepared for the 2%.

Full terms regarding the offer:

What is the promotion?

Create up to 100 listings on eBay.co.uk in an eligible category, starting during the promotional period, using the auction-style or fixed price format and pay a maximum of £1 per listing in final value fees if the item sells.

Before your 100 listings start, you need to have actively opted in to the promotion via the RSVP link shown in the marketing communication.

Also, you won’t pay an insertion fee for each of the 100 listings. Listing upgrade fees will still apply and will be charged according to the eBay fees policy.

The number of listings eligible under this promotion may be less where seller restrictions apply. Click here to learn more about selling limits.

Item must sell within 30 days of listing.

Where is it?

eBay.co.uk

Who is eligible?

eBay.co.uk registered private sellers who have been invited to participate and have actively opted in to the promotion via the RSVP link shown in the marketing communication. Participation is linked to the seller’s account and is not transferable. Sellers must be registered as a resident in the UK.

When is it?

Valid as per the date shown on the marketing communication.

Only listings which start during the promotion period are eligible. Please refer to “How do I get the promotional rate?” for more details.

How do I get the promotional rate?

  • You must have actively opted in to the promotion via the RSVP link shown in the marketing communication.
  • The promotion is valid for the first 100 listings only which go live during the promotion period (or were previously scheduled to go live during the promotion period) on eBay.co.uk using the auction-style, auction-style with Buy it now option, or fixed price formats, in an eligible category. Listings using the auction-style with Buy it now option will be charged only the listing upgrade fee.
  • Only sellers whose accounts meet eBay’s minimum seller performance standards are eligible. Please sign in to My eBay and view your Seller Dashboard to verify whether your account is currently meeting the standards. The Seller dashboard is available to all sellers. The detailed rating section is available to sellers who've received 5 or more detailed seller ratings (DSRs). Find out more about eBay’s seller performance standards.
  • If you registered after 15 March 2011 or haven’t listed any items for a while, you may have a listing allowance of 10 items per month or of £650 per month, whichever is reached first. You may be able to increase this allowance by providing additional verification.
  • An eligible item previously scheduled to go live during the promotional period will qualify for the promotion only if you have opted in to the promotion before the listing starts.
  • If an item that is eligible for the promotion had previously closed without a successful sale and is re-listed during the promotion period, it will form a part of the 100 listings limit of the promotion. You will not receive a refund of your original insertion fee if the item sells.
  • Listings do not have to successfully sell during the promotional period to be eligible.
  • If an item qualifies for the promotion and when the item sells, the invoice will indicate the fee including the discount. Please note: if the item does not sell the first time and if you relist it after the promotional period or if it is automatically relisted during the promotional period, standard final value fees will be charged according to the eBay fees policy when the relisted item sells.
  • Items that are automatically relisted through the Automatic relist function or the Good ‘Till Cancelled function will be charged.
  • Only single quantity listings are eligible.
  • For items listed in 2 or more categories, only the insertion fee for the first category is included. Standard insertion fees will be charged for listing the same item for each additional category, according to the eBay fees policy.
  • Free listings in this promotion do not count towards your monthly 20 free listings.
  • Item must sell within 30 days of listing.
Restrictions & exclusions:

  • Business sellers.
  • Sellers who have been invited to participate, but have not actively opted in to the promotion via the RSVP link shown in the marketing communication.
  • All items listed in the Cars, Motorcycles & Vehicles and Property categories. However items listed in the Vehicle Parts & Accessories category are included.
  • Items listed in the Classified format.
  • Auction-style listings ended early.
  • Identical listings that don’t comply with our duplicate listings policy.
  • Any item listed that doesn’t comply with eBay’s listing policies or prohibited and restricted items policies.
  • Any item listed during the promotional period but scheduled to start after the promotional period.
  • Listings that are automatically relisted through the Automatic relist function or the Good ‘Till Cancelled function during the promotional period.
  • Listings that are listed during the promotional period but do not sell and are relisted outside of the promotional period.
  • Multi-quantity listings
  • Listing upgrade fees apply and will be charged according to the eBay fees policy.
  • PayPal and any other third-party fees still apply.
  • Final value fees apply for second chance offers.
General terms:

  • Any attempt to manipulate the promotion will lead to automatic exclusion from participation.
  • eBay reserves the right to suspend, change or cancel the promotion at any time, in the event of circumstances arising which, in eBay's opinion, make it necessary for it to do so. eBay reserves the right to add additional terms and conditions for certain parts of this promotion.
  • eBay also reserves the right to exclude users on the basis that their seller accounts have fallen below the minimum required seller performance standards. Sellers should confirm eligibility by checking their account status on My eBay.

eBay believed I had sold a wheelchair outside of eBay.

Timeline went something like this:

1. Buyer wanted to view the chair to see if suitable for his wife, so I sent my address.
2. Buyer viewed, but decided it wasn't suitable.
3. Wheelchair was also on Gumtree (which eBay owns), and the next day someone responded to ad, came round and bought the chair.
4. I ended the eBay listing.
5. I get an email informing me I have a week's ban for selling outside of eBay.
6. I ring eBay to explain, provide links to existing Gumtree advert etc/correspondence. It was not a productive call.
7. Decided it was easier to suck it up, and wait out the week. No bids, buying, messaging etc.

I really hate eBay, and wish there was a viable alternative.

...and no. Lokal is not that alternative.

Just a follow up here in case this helps anyone. The link wasn't valid for me but I had received this offer in my ebay inbox and was able to activate it! Woo. This will give me the motivation to finally list some stuff that i've been meaning to list for a while but just haven't got round to (and probably wouldn't without this offer). If you're listing stuff that's worth a few hundred pounds this could be a great offer - as long as it sells within 30 days.

From a buyers perspective - there might be some great deals around 25-30 days after this promotion where sellers would be willing to let stuff go for cheaper than they would usual because they'll still be better off with £1 fees rather than 10% of the final value.

Same! Luckily just found this in my inbox!

Does the fee only apply if I list the item within the date range or do I have to sell the item within the date range ?

Ebay need more business now that facebook has selling sites, they continued to rob people over the years and now are suffering.....greed, no one likes greed

Says it has to sell within 30 days, that's longer than the promotion date so I'm going to go with it has to be listed by the 21st of August (tomorrow) and sell within the next 30 days. If relisted etc normal fees apply

Yes finally worked on a non business account - sold something right away - £2.10 saved :sunglasses:

I am no fan of Ebay and their monopoly - yet thanks to the site I have made quite quite a return over the years. 10% commission fees are highly competitive these days.

Worked for me, Ipad sold in about 2 hours, £31.50 saved :):):)

Sadly. Very sadly. This is good advice. At the beginning, eBay was a seller's fraudsters paradise, now it is a buyer's fraudsters paradise. Be careful, sellers. Too many scumbags out there. A sad reflection of our broken society.

Just checked - max length of 'Buy it Now' is 10 days ?

Can anyone advise ?

Thankyou

Yes or you can used "good till cancelled" and the offer will apply if it sells inside the first 30 days.

I some times do as well. I recently sent my email address to someone as an image which was also picked up and the actual text from it was extracted by them as well to suspend my account, so beware.

Hi just wanted some help. I sold my phone with this deal but the buyer no longer wants it. I've given a second offer chance to someone else and if they pay it, do I still only get charged £1max or does the normal rate apply? Please let me know
