I have two of the smaller capacity versions and they are excellent. However at this price i would be tempted to buy something faster and a addaptor.

I don't like these, they're very slow and quite often completely stop working when they get hot during a transfer. Definitely can't be use for large volume transfer.

great price for the amount of space. Heated on that basis. I have the 128GB model. Never had a problem with it but it does feel a bit wobbly at times but I guess you lose a bit in build quality by having the dual connectors...

Great price for a decent size usb drive.
These dual connector drives are handy but as others have rightly said, they're tediously slow to transfer with either connector regardless of source machine.
I've literally watched performance when copying files via PC (usb 2.0 or 3.0) and seen speeds vary between about 15mb/s down to about 350k/s then it stops altogether for about 5-10 seconds before speeding back up and then shortly after dropping again.
I still use them (128gb and 32gb) but I can't recommend them for their copy performance - it's dire. Playback is fine though and these will happily allow smooth playback of 1080p video content to bluray players, phones, tv's etc.

It says USB 2.0 in the details but 3.0 in the heading. USB2.0 can in theory do 480mbps I thought? So this if this is only doing 150 it is even slower.
256GB is almost 4 hours at a 150mbps transfer speed, and that is only an upto transfer speed.
The 128GB is better.

MB and Mb are different units, big B is bytes, little B is bits (8-10 times smaller, sometimes they say 10 as that would include parity bits). So if it is up to 150MB/s that would be USB3.0.
I think maybe these are falling in price as people would probably want to start looking at USB-C connectors on the other end not micro-USB.

All of the Amazon title is in lower case, it's meant to be up to 150MB/s (megabytes) - they don't do memory sticks in megabits, it's only that USB2.0 and USB3.0 generally are stated in bits not bytes

I don't know what you are talking about. The transfer speed is stated as 150mbps on the 264GB stick, it is different if you pick the 128GB stick.
I understand the difference, I didn't need the definition, nor do I need to know how many bits are in a byte etc.

Which is two different SI units - that's why I even said it, that quote suggests you didn't understand it. USB2 is 480Mbps which works out to around 40MB/s real world and this is up to 150MB/s read speed which is not slower and is USB3.0 anyway. Doesn't really matter just trying to make sense of that comment - anyway it's back up to £75.99.

You keep saying this does 150MB/s but the Amazon page doesn't say that for the 264GB drive. Nor does the title here.
The Amazon page also says the 264GB drive has USB 2.0 which as you said isn't capable of 150MB/s. USB 3.0 is capable of much faster than 150MB/s. Strange isn't it.
My point is that it isn't actually clear what you'll be getting and it sounds like the Amazon page is for more than one generation of this drive.

It says '[3] Read speeds from drive to computer up to 150 MB/s. Write speeds lower and vary by drive capacity. USB 3.0 port required. Based on internal testing; performance may be lower depending upon host device.'
It refers to a 'USB2.0 connector' which is physically identical to USB3.0 Type-A for the purposes of this device. It's also 256GB not 264GB.
I only bought it up originally because of that comment but it doesn't matter as it's expired. I think there were USB2.0 drives of this type but not at 256GB capacity

This is all going in circles really. The connector is type A not 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever.0
My phone seems to like the number 264 better for some reason.
The drive is slower then 3.0 by a fair margin so I wouldn't buy it full stop.

Fine but that's a pointless reason for not buying it if that was your reason as even a modern full-fat SSD is barely going to saturate USB3.0. 150MB/s anything definitely needs USB3.0 was meant to be my point.

If I was buying high capacity it would be because I need to move a large amount of data around. I do need to move it around but I also don't want to be sitting in the office just waiting for it to move, I want it done as fast as possible.
I am sure this would be fine for people who just want to stick a movie on it and be able to play it from somewhere else, as long as you don't need to regularly transfer to and from it in a timely manner.

Of course, but the dual connector suggests it's for moving things around easily and compact-size rather than performance. You'll want a Corsair Voyager GTX or SanDisk Extreme I guess then. Personally, I don't mind the wait as I always found memory sticks kind of disposable (well not disposable but they definitely have a habit of going 'missing' more frequently).

I have a variety of memory sticks, actually think I have a couple of really slow low capacity sticks at home, I think 8MB.
I really fancy a 2TB Samsung T3 with USB 3.1 but even my work draws the line there price wise :disappointed:

They are called Ultra because they are Ultra slow. I bought the 64gb dual version, little brother to the one posted. I then bought the normal type A ultra. They are poles apart. The dual version hardly makes usb 2 speeds at times. Data transfer from phones is slow anyway but don't waste your money on the dual type. Buy a full size usb drive and then a converter lead for about £1.50.

Had a few of these previously (smaller capacity), work great but all of them have sooner or later fallen apart. Not very well built. Heated for the price though..
