Mali-T830 MP2 Is only good for lower end games  Real racing 3 lags and stutters and even jungle heat runs at very low fps. It's a shame if they put in a better gpu it would have been a fantastic tablet.

Good tablet, a little basic but very good battery life, screen and performance. Mine does have a small wi-fi issue though where the connection seems to die occasionally.

That's terrible, I specifically requested Samsung to consider your kitchen when designing this thing!
But on a serious note, I have one of these supplied with my job, WiFi signal is brilliant on it.

I bought this which comes with a screen protector - as I said its for my 3 kids (7 and under) so a shock proof one was a must!
Struggling to decide. It'll be used for movies/streaming and browsing and not a lot else.

The Samsung is Full HD, 1080 so higher resolution, better for viewing videos and is ac Wi-Fi if you have fast broadband( e.g. up to say 200mb speed, but if a cheap less than 50mb broadband you may not notice any difference) so a much higher spec.
vinster345 to Randle_SAFC
1 Sep 17#61
Don't bother with that tablet. I bought that back in April and it is very slow, and the screen is already failing on me. I'm gonna pick this tablet up as a replacement
Marcus.Fishenden
24 Aug 17#24
Looks good as going on Samsung website says it has ac Wi-Fi so if you are on one of the faster Broadbands ,( e.g. Virgin) 200mb speed should be possible. Also Samsung website says plug in memory supported to 200GB so reasonable storage capacity compared to Apple equivalents, for less than £200
misterleoni to Marcus.Fishenden
1 Sep 17#65
No point comparing with Apple equivalents unless you happen to have a 200GB card lying around the house. Also even with a 200GB card you only have about 10GB of internal storage to cache content from iPlayer, Sky Go, More 4 etc too, as they don’t support storing on external cards even if you switch the storage area to external in the app settings.

Very heavy piece of kit, I dropped mine and broke the screen. It would have cost £180 to repair so I shot it with my air rifle and put it in the bin, it was still talking even in the dustbin. Now have a Samsung Tab S2, much lighter and faster.

I would have thought most hotel guests would have free access to the hotels WiFi and not many hotels without any WiFi at all but i can understand if it's a weak or a non existant signal which i think would be rare.

Really tempted by this, been thinking about the tab A for a while now, mainly as there just doesn't seem to be any decent mid-range tablets at the moment everything seems to be either super cheap (and low spec) or extremely expensive (Tab S3).
Even the Tab S2 9.7 is still £350 a couple years after coming on sale. Whilst obviously the screen & CPU are far superior, it is still double the price and the 4:3 ratio is no good for me as I watch a lot of tv on it (iplayer, Sky Go, etc).
Can anyone tell me how is the Chrome performance on the Tab A? I've found my old one is suffering terribly even if video apps still work fine (like iplayer). I'm guessing it is mostly down the the lack of RAM (1GB)

Chrome is a resource hog on every platform. Had a go on one these in store (John Lewis) & it seemed pretty nippy using Chrome - a lot better than most cheap (similar priced) Android tabs I've used. Not a patch on Safari with an iPad - but no one reading this post probably wants to hear that.

So I took the plunge and ordered this using 3% quidco +£2.50 bonus. Getting the £10 voucher just sealed the deal.
So far, pretty impressed, screen looks pretty decent even if it isn't upto the ipad/tab s3 standards. The fact it came with Android 7.0 was a big plus, it means I'm fairly up to date tho when it will get 8.0 is another matter!
WRT to Chrome performance, so far, it's pretty good. Haven't tested any games as yet but GTA Vice City & San Andreas indicate that they are compatible. How well they run remains to be seen.
