I have a couple of the R1's which are basically the same and they are really good. Can play multi room so have the same metal banging out throughout the house! \m/

Reviews aren't all that on price alone, pretty good, but seems a devil to set up, and maintain connection.

Bought this for £59.97 a couple of months ago. Great speaker, paired it with an R1 speaker. There is no difference in sound quality when compared to the R1 model. Great buy if you can find one or two

I have four regular R1s (not sure what the difference is with the 'Lite') and a couple of R3s dotted around the home and they are awesome when they are all working. Especially when walking round the house and the music seems to follow you.
As well as playing your MP3 collection via Bluetooth, you can also subscribe to
Deezer, Spotify, Tidal or other supported music streaming service and
stream music via the Samsung Multiroom app.
You can even allocated different tracks, albums, playlists to different speakers which is a really handy feature if the kids don't want to listen to your 'old people music'.
I'll admit I have had issues in the past with my Multiroom speakers dropping out, but these were due to what I believe were IP conflicts as there's 50+ items that connect to my router regularly, including PCs, phones, tablets, games consoles, TVs, speakers, Freesat etc.
However, I took to configuring the router and issued fixed local IPs for all connected devices and now everything seems to work fine.
You could also use the Deezer, Spotify streaming service in the car from your phone you in-car audio is equipped with Bluetooth.
I've not listened to any of my 20,000 MP3s since I bought my Samsung Multiroom speakers and got myself a Deezer subscription last year.

I good deal if you can find any in stock. I got one locally when they were down to £60 and I'm really happy with it, when compared to anything else around this price range.
My only minor gripe is that I need to be careful when turning the volume towards maximum (which is very loud) as the bass can cause the speaker to move. Thankfully, I managed to notice this before it fell off a shelf when I first had it. In truth though, I'm struggling to think of a reason to need to play your music that loud anyway, as if volume is your aim, you probably wouldn't be looking towards small speakers like this.

Is one speaker per room ok, or would you need a pair of these per room?

Is there a setup that uses wireless speakers as part of a surround sound system and could these be used with that?

I use samsung R1s as surround with my Samsung soundbar & TV. I don't believe the R1s have that functionality, I couldn't get them to work anyway. They are great for dotting around the house as general wireless speakers though.
