I'm kinda leaning towards the Huawei. What do people think?

how much storage was left after the OS Android updates? The 16gb is putting me off a little bit, however everything else seems great. (I know you can use a SD card, but a lot of apps don't let u transfer data to it)

To be honest I don't know. I have gone pretty app-happy (with some meaty ones like Hearthstone and Spotify) and I still have 3.3gb remaining. Apparently there is 1.6gb which can be cleaned up too.
YMMV, of course.

Yes just select the classic sim and the charge in the basket is £159.99. That's what I did and all went fine. Getting the unlock code however seems to be a different thing all together....

This seems like a great deal to me - we've been out looking at a variety of Motorola's but the build quality seems worse than the Motorola's I've had before - might be time to change brands!

Cubit and bush, you just proved my point about paying for the brand. Theyve all got full hd displays too bar the cubit which is half the price but same as this. Spank you very much.
applepieman to jaydeeuk1
1 Sep 17#29
So you would buy a Cubot or Bush smartphone based solely upon a higher res screen over a Samsung, priceless and clueless. You think simple resolution of screen is an indicator of quality do you? No thought to screen quality, cpu, wifi, amoled, cameras, look/feel, os installed, possible updates etc?
In addition none of those prices are available the Bush has been junked it looks like, the Cubot is near same price and The Medion is near £200
Seems you have really struggled here

Decent phone but you'll need to root as the internal storage is a pathetic 8gb. Just a few apps and my mum's phone was reporting out of storage. Got sick of moving things and used ADB to set the external SD to adoptable. Much more usable now.

Rooted using Odin (tutorials abound on the interwebs) then used a combination of ADB and an app called root essentials from the play store

I've had this phone for 3 weeks now and out the box you have 11gb not 8gb. The storage is 16gb not 8gb. I've been surprised how good the performance is too, very smooth and the other day Samsung updated Touchwiz in the Play Store and it's been even smoother since then. Fantastic build quality and great battery life, decent camera as long as you stick to using HDR in high contrast situations as otherwise it comes out too dark

From the phones currently available around this price (and intended for sale in the UK), I found the Vodafone Smart V8 to be the best of the bunch. Great screen, surprisingly great camera, Snapdragon 435 (an improvement over the G5 and G5S), 32GB, and 3GB RAM. Cheap to unlock too.
happpychappy to chancooluk
1 Sep 17#28
Have you got the v8? Be interested to know what the camera is like. Have the smart ultra 6 and the only thing that let's it down is the camera particularly in low light. Would like something nearer the performance of the s7
chancooluk to happpychappy
1 Sep 17#30
You won't find S7 performance on any new phone at this price point. It's a lot to ask for £160. Even the £220 Moto G5 Plus, which uses the same sensor as the S7, produces significantly inferior photos.
The camera on the V8 is not amazing in low light, but the camera quality is still a massive as step up from the Ultra 6.

Personally I'd rather get a SIM free Moto G5 with it's 1080p screen and stock Android for £10 cheaper but this does have NFC and a compass which some people will want.

Moto G5 has a compass as well. The stock Android and removable battery of the Moto G5 would make it my choice as well
