Excellent for stick insects if you drill air holes in the top.

Problem with these Really Useful Boxes is that they don't stack when not used, ie can't be nested one in another.
I made the mistake of ordering two too many and ended having to find somewhere to store them - the irony.....the must have a huge warehouse to store their stock......
Still good sturdy boxes though.

I didnt know that they couldnt be nested. Well worth bearing that in mind if they have to be stored empty

I have used these boxes for years and they really rubost and can take some knocks. I mainly use them in garage for storage. Last lot I got was late last year2 for £20 at B&Q

I've bought a load of these over the years. More expensive than others but the quality is much higher than most. Good price for this size.

The material is watertight but there is no seal between the box and the lid if that's what you are asking? I'm also not sure how this would react to high temperatures? It's quite a high density plastic so probably would keep its shape up to 100C but I suspect it would leach all sorts of nasty chemicals?!

Even if it did leech chemicals, you're cooking food in vacuum sealed bags. So it wouldn't matter.

I've known storage boxes like this to get really brittle over time which is a problem with keeping it full of water.
Also, to keep this full of enough water to comfortably submerse bags of food in, I've imagine you'd need 30l+ of water, that's going to take a very long time to heat up and use a lot of power.
I'm also really paranoid about immersion heaters in plastic containers but that's just me. Seen too many thermostat failures and what a lot of them do if they're no longer submersed (either form evaporation or leaks).

Brought up to my wife that we need a couple useful boxes around...... pretty sure I'm sleeping on the couch tonight. Word of caution with how you bring this up with the SO.
