so is the Nitro worth the extra £27 over the Pulse ?

Probably not based on performance. The GPU's are supposedly cherry picked but even so I would only expect around ~5% performance difference.
Some of the extra features might be worth it though; seems like it has dual BIOS, improved cooler, slightly higher boost clock and includes spare fans

Getting cheaper. £236.62. Only £15 or so more than the Pulse verion. It's overclocked out of the box. What is a few % more worth to you. Still no indication when these might come out.

Nitro+ review showed it was faster but it also gets hotter. The higher clocked a card is the more power it will use, Overall it comes down to gaming performance you want. You can also over clocked 1060 cards, You will struggle to find a 1060 6gb card below 230 or so. Even then they will be the mini versions or less well known brands. RX580 seems to do well in DX12 games compared to Nvida.
You could hedge your bets and order both this and the pulse cards. They don't charge till they are shipped. As discussed on the other thread some other sites suggest they could get Saphire Pulse stock mid September. Maybe same for Amazon.
These have been out of stock for so long now it makes me think AMD are stock piling before releasing stock. That or giving more production to Vega GPU. $$$
As for Dollar prices. Remember they exclude VAT. There will be no price cuts with AMD and others struggling to supply the market.

Good deal. Shame about the gpu situation.
This card card is quite good. £20 more than the other one but cools better and seems like one of the better 580 8gb.

memory chips are going to be in short supply for 5 6 months so if anything these 8gb cards might go UP in price , or at least stay at their inflated prices. ram ,ssd also included. :fearful:

After looking at more recent reviews, even an RX570 can now compete with a GTX1060 6GB:
I have a GTX1080,but honestly if a Sapphire RX570 PULSE 4GB(not the RX580),is getting close to an aftermarket GTX1060 in many games now, then a RX580 is going to faster.
So the RX580 Pulse 8GB for £222 looks a very good deal in comparison.

At this price you'd be better with a cooler, quieter, much more energy efficient 1060. Then again comparing performance to a 1070, it is hard to condone paying more than £190 for a 1060.

There's more chance of buying a bag of rocking horse poo fertiliser from Homebase than buying one of these cards.
I've had an RX580 on order from Amazon since mid June.
How the miners are buying them is beyond me.

I was deciding the same thing, the price of G sync monitors put me off getting a 1070, although it's a better card it's roughly an extra £100 (on sale) then the monitor another extra 100, personal choice, they are both quality cards.

Would this be good for quad HD (2560x1440)?

It can but not with max detail in a fair number of games. It's pretty much on the lower end of 1440p capable graphics cards.

Good price. However, is anyone actually buying these? I need a new card but would wait a couple of weeks or so to see how things settle as surely the prices can only go down from here?

Yeah it's a bad time to be buying a graphics card if you can avoid it. I wouldn't expect a huge amount of differnce in a couple of weeks though... couple of months maybe.

That said, £220 for that other 8gb is as cheap as they were regularly before the price pains

I've been watching the mining difficulty charts and it has taken a dip which I'm assuming is for the RX Vega, hopefully they dump their Mid range GPUs so we get better prices.

The Vega mining efficiency is not very high, 32-35 MH/s, any dips are almost surely not due to Vega.

This is a pretty standard price for the 8GB 580, actually. The £220 one is a downright great deal. There's not much reason for prices to go down further.

I wouldn't buy this. You can get 1060's at the same price and they will actually turn up. You could be waiting months and months for this.

I refuse to pay more than £180 for a 6gb 1060. Will give it a few months.

This is basically the same card amazon.fr/gp/…c=1 239 Euro+carriage - it is a pre order though as well. i preordered it back on the 22nd July for EUR 236,84and i'm still waiting.

Worth noting Amazon UK now has it for £221 too if anybody wants to use vouchers
I'm tempted, but a decent aftermarket rx 580 is meant to be $220, so well under £200, if miners hadn't happened. I will just wait to see what comes next. Mining cannot be sustainable for hobbyists - the difficulty should push them out?

How did you work that out you can nevr compare US $ peice to £ it doesn't work like that and even if you did remember to add vat which makes this a very good price.
The prices wont drop for people saying it will again it doesn't work like that all that will happen is they stop production of these and move on to the next one.

Ordered the non-nitro version at 8am this morning. Been watching prices ever since they started to rise so I'm desperate for anything at a decent price. £220 for the 8gb is about where they should be. Just hope it turns up at some point.

i suspect both will clock up to about the same speed from what i have read. The dual bios is only really going to be useful if your planning on swapping them around regularly which is pretty niche. looking at a couple of reviews the difference seems minimal.
