Seems like a reasonable price considering recent pricing of GPU's. I just read about the Vega cards and as always the GTX 'seems' to be a better bet.
Remember this is a pre order, item due on 8th September apparently.
Wish I'd already sold my aging GTX 780Ti's, to buy this! (then another later ;))
Hope it helps someone out in this crazy time of pricing for GPU's!

I'll wait until black Friday, unless my QuickSilver gets delivered earlier

Terrible price considering how long these have been around now and the fact we have had a whole new wave of AMD cards just hit. Also, I think yesterday someone posted a GTX1070 Mini at £350 though not sure if it's still that price.
Also what is with having to pre-order cards that have already been on the market over a year? Just an insult having to pay more to have your card come in a few weeks.
As you say it's acceptable within the context of the market (i.e. bloody terrible) but people who buy them at that price are just encouraging it to continue. Personally, If i had to build a new PC today, I'd rather just buy a console than try to put together a PC considering current pricing. Luckily I already have a decent enough PC but if I was looking at getting into PC gaming or indeed if anyone asked me if it was a good idea, my advice would be to steer well clear and buy a Playstation 4 as at the moment (and sadly for the foreeable it seems) PC owners (and builders) are getting royally fleeced....

It's a good point, I'm not terribly excited about vega though, far too tempting for miners apparently. There's loads of 290s on eBay for relatively cheap, great for 1080p ultra detail in most games I've found. I reckon they're at least on par with the rx 480 in games (definitely not in compute performance otherwise those miners would be all over them).
I wouldn't get your hopes up for black Friday, unless you're running low on bog roll holders and 720p 22inch bush TVs!

Terrible is a strong word! IMO of course.
The pre-order is a pee take, fully agree.
I would also argue if you are thinking to get a console instead of a PC, you probably aren't invested in PC gaming and perhaps more of a fringe player (no disrespect).
Most PC gamers would never think - I'll buy a console instead of a PC.
Biding time would be the best thing, this deal was more for those who can't wait and it's reasonable in the grand scheme!

Yeah sound like Black Friday graphics card deals might be not too likely. If rumor/news is to be believed VRAM prices are supposed to be jumping up again at the end of the month.

But but if you short the vertex fuse and install treble Korean custom bios and pump 10000watts into a vega you can get 1 FPS more on certain benchmarks...

Pre order basically means drop shipping to increase the sellers discount on bulk orders, that's how they manage to offer slight reductions to draw people in.
manufacturers restrict supply due to mining craze and thus keep prices high, getting stock seems to be a real mine field, pay the price or lease the allocation

Decided tho upgrade my 560ti, and discovered this mining craze mullered all the GPU prices.
If you want to roll the dice at Ebuyer, they might have the Zotac Mini 1070 @£340 from tomorrow, Wed 30th.
And then there's Volta any time soon maybe Q1 next year, and also the possibility of a range refresh to a 20XX series in Q3 this year. Unless you are running 4K it's probably worth hanging on especially with 780/980s until the next generation is released

Meh So the cheapest Vega 56 GPU is £380 at overclockers
Most reviews suggest Vega 56 out performs the 1070 is most games (the 64 trades blows with the 1080)
Personally I'll wait for the non reference design cards to start showing up next month then make a decision nearer xmas when all the partner cards have been released.

Although produces a lot of heat, which in turn usually negatively affects performance.
Ultimately for those that can wait, you should!

i got a 980ti for like 270 when the 1070 came out and its still now a better deal than buying a 1070
