These were a steal at £24.99, very good at £34.99 and decent at £40. They're not perfect noise isolation phones - you can hear the noise it's playing back to you compared to some others (looking at you, bose) that are near perfect. Still, perfect to add to the collection as I just sling them in my bag when going on a train/plane without too much fuss about keeping them super well looked after. Battery is decent too - about 9 hours with NC, more without, although why you would use these without NC on I don't know as £7 earphones are better than these if you don't need noise cancellation!

They've never been £24.99.
£34.99 is the cheapest they've been. People got them for an effective £24.99 with a Quidco promotion of £10 cashback.
I get a lot more than 9 hours out of mine!

Handy to know you can switch off NC if you're in a quiet environment surely you wouldn't need NC function every day!

Not that impressive in the cancellation dept, in fact deaden the music sound for me in this mode. I also keep forgetting what half the buttons do.

Had these for about 6 months, didnt notice the NC button! Thanks for the prompt. Happy with the sound. Only gripe, if you wear glasses the flashing bluetooth light reflects in the glass and its a bit irritating. Ended up putting a bit of tape over it.

Bought these last time out and they are great, on ear of course, but what do you expect for the price. Sounds is good, Bluetooth is stable and the noise cancelling is better than no noise cancelling if you know what I mean.

I bought one to give as a present @£24.99 (need to check if it was ever paid!) and was impressed so got a pair for myself @£34.99. Even @£39.99 they are very good for the money imo

Although it's a good deal, price-wise - they're really not great headphones. I bought them the last time they were mega discounted and returned them the same day. Uncomfortable, really plastic / poor build quality feel to them. Personally, I'd rather get a decent pair of non NC wireless headphones that are comfy for this money.

I was a little let down by the plastic feel too, but was so impressed by what they are: fantastic sound, active noise cancellation and a good mic (I use mine for conference calls). At this price I'll accept the build for those features. Amazing deal, very impressed by Philips. If you want heavier plastic, spend more money.

The link to the black ones are the Philips SHB8750NCs if you click on the silver ones, they are a different better model SHB8850NC

Are you sure? Argos don't sell the silver 8850 model.
And they're both the same, in any event.

I have these I think I paid 35 on a sale. From 90 though I'm sure. Anyway the battery life is sooooo good. However they arn't very loud if your one of them. Plenty enough for me. The noise cancelling function works very well but they are very light and made from plastic making them feel really cheap. It should help them stay on your head better during excercise but not for me

Owners, can these sit loosly round your neck? Handy when you are not using them. All the ones I have won't fit around my neck (ear pieces in the way). Hopefully you know what I mean

Does it work with ps4?

Only if you use the cable from the looks of a quick search. Only certain BT headsets work with it.

Not wirelessly, but you can plug into the controller with the included 3.5mm cable.
A quality set of wireless headphones with active noise cancellation with a 3.5mm jack is very difficult to come by at this price point.

How does it cancel the noise ?
plebbygiraffe to oldskoolpug
10 Aug 17#35
Principally active noise cancellation works by using a microphone to listen to the outside world. It then inverts the sound wave and plays this through the headphones.
So you'll be familiar with a sound wave I'm sure, so to put it simplistically (ie. this isn't scientifically accurate just the principle!) consider the peaks of a sound wave to be the number '1, and the troughs/dips to be -1 - the middle line is 0.
0 is silence.
If you have a peak at 1 and create a copy of that then invert it you have a trough of -1. Add the two together and you get 0. Silence.

does it have a mic ?
agemawat to vailati
10 Aug 17#34
They do have a mic, but they are one of the worst headphones to use for a voice call. The mic is so sensitive, it will pick up any sound in the surrounding 10 ft. It is a pain for someone to be on the other end of call taken from these phones.
jeffjack to agemawat
10 Aug 17#38
I think the mic is ok, I use them for telephone. Maybe check your mic gain settings.

Sometimes they say the price has gone up but speak to a manager and if that don't work ring customer services and they will ring them up and tell them to give it to you for that price as it's happened to me before and that's how I got my item after the price had gone up.Thanks

When I went to collect mine this morning they said £79.99. When I questioned it they immediately sorted it and assured me I wouldn't pay more than what I reserved for.
Mine are charging at the moment.

Think I got the last pair reserved at Skem. That didn't stop them from charging £79.99 at the till today when I picked them up. . Put them to rights when I showed my reservation email at £39.99.
Initial impressions are good. They're obviously not Bose quality but they do a great job filtering out background noise. Can't go wrong at this price.
Thanks Op. Heat added. Can't see them anyway now even at the full price
