Really struggling to make a final decision, I dont need a Compass so taking that out of the equation would people choose this the G5s Plus when it comes out this month?

How would this phone compare to a galaxy note 3? Obviously the screen size will be smaller, but I think it will be okay. But in terms of performance and build quality. Thanks in advance!

Build quality of the P10 lite is really good. However, the metallic cover on the back is a little bit "slippery", so that I bought a transparent cover. I can't judge the performance because I am not a gamer, but the 4 GB RAM are really helpful when you use several apps in parallel. It only surprises me how warm the phone can become when you use "power hungry" apps. But, once such apps are closed, the temperature goes down immediately.

I was just about to order the p8 lite when I stumbled across this. Is it really worth £100 more?

Depends on your budget. If you want extra 16 gb storage and 4 GB ram, upgraded processor and better camera and solid build quality, then go for this one.

I think only the extra storage would be of any benefit to me and I can buy an SD card for the p8 lite for a lot less than £100 I guess.
Mind you the better camera is more appealing too. Eek I don't know what to do!
I know I could look up the specs but they really don't mean too much to me. When you say better camera, in what way? Sharper, brighter, less blurry? Does that mean the video would be better too? Thanks.

You can compare like for like here: Phone comparison I can't see a whole lot worth the extra £100!

I bought this phone from CWP one month ago. It is unbelievable how easy use of the phone with 4 GB RAM is. You can easily juggle between different applications at the same time. Eg play a game and take a Skype call without any delay.

To upset the apple cart of choice even further... you might want to check out the Motorola G5s which comes out very shortly, or if you want a bigger screen the G5s plus.

You can do better than the P8 Lite for £150 - it is a couple of years old, mediocre battery capacity and CPU, average screen, etc.
If you want a 5" screen, I would be looking at the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime (unless you really need band 20). The deal here has expired, but you can find it on AliExpress for £150.

There is a p8 lite 2017 which is 150 pound currently, so not a couple of years old.

Actually I should've put p8 lite 2017, keep forgetting to put the 2017 bit! I've heard a lot of people mention the Xiaomi you mention, I'll have a look. Thanks.

£100 extra for a device 2 generations on is an easy buy, especially when you consider Huawei's rate of improvement over the last 2 years.

I have the p9 lite 16gb only thing I wish it has was more internal storage. Get the 32gb one. Don't go for 16gb as you can't install apps to the sd card.

I agree with this comment. I have the P9 Lite and have a 64gb card in mine, which is good for storing music, photos and films etc but you can't install apps so you'll soon run out of space. I'm considering buying this just to get the extra space as I love the phone and the camera is good despite what some would say.

I'm gonna keep mine and maybe upgrade when needed. Currently eyeing up a mi mix! But waiting on the 2nd gen model

Yes, no problem at all, but some like the Barclays app can be a bit fussy with these & Nougat (Android 7).

Not saying this is a bad deal but a month ago but keep an eye on eBay. I got a brand new P9 on there a few weeks ago for £245, which has the Leica dual cameras.

I looked at this seems pretty good on paper, but the CPU is a let down
It's around the same processing power as the S5 Samsung.
So comparable to a handset that's three years old. May as well get an s6 for around £200 which will perform to a higher level and have better camera, features generally.

The S6 has terrible battery life, and because it has an AMOLED screen, if you break it due to the high cost of replacement the phone is effectively a write off. I had an S6 for two years, I have a Sony Xperia XZ now, the 2 years of owning the S6 were not a pleasure. The S6 also doesn't have any expandable storage.

I was thinking about getting the XZs what's the XZ like?

It's pretty good, Android can always do with with more horsepower though, it definitely feels faster to use than the S6 I had before it. Sony are decent with optimising their phones.
G5s is meh but g5s plus looks like a decent phone. Not sure about whether it has compass

No compass for the EU version, real shame was a decent phone otherwise

Great phone, heat added. I returned mine sadly the other week due to it was still stuck on early software with no updates despite updates being released months ago. And the software was often stuttery despite 4 gig ram. Nice phone otherwise if they can sort out the performance issues

Just ordered this on upgrade for my kid, I'm currently using the P9 and find these phones great value.

Is this an upgrade on the p8 (none lite)? I could do with a new phone I quite like the p10 or the lg g6 but they are both quite a bit more.

I have the P8 too, but wouldn't consider this much of an upgrade (wouldn't consider it even if it was £150).
If you're not desperate, I'd wait for one of these to return:
Best way is to look across 4-5 reviews of any particular phone. This way you'll get to find out said phones strengths and weaknesses.
