A portable, simple WiFi amplifier (repeater) which increases your WiFi signal in areas where your WiFi signal isn't strong.
Description: ● Lightweight (only 30 grams), you can carry it and pair it with routers easily. ● No need to switch the hotspot, double your WiFi signal's power ● Special USB power supply unit, the USB can be rotated 180 degree. ● Can automatically detect the connection state and strength of signal. ● Plug and play, no need to install any drivers. ● Can be powered by a power bank or a USB charger.
Note this is the English Version so the app would be in English and not in chinese!
Slightly cheaper than the deal posted before which is now expired!

Not sure what you're trying to do.
You said you can't run a 20m cable, you can't use power over Lan?
In that case you simply need to buy a good wifi repeater and place it half way between the points .

Just to help anyone who may be struggling. Download the Mi Home App from Google playstore and during set up, pick China mainland as your home. This apparently make the app work and more likely to connect. I picked "other" initially and the extender wouldn't connect but as said earlier, picking China mainland worked.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've looked on Amazon and it suggests the ethernet port is for connecting another device to for a wired connection, as opposed to me wanting to transfer my virgin hub single to the device via ethernet.
Not yet, Gearbest delivery is now super late since they changed to CJFAM. Will update when I recieve it.

Anyone know a device where I can plug a 20 metre ethernet cable into my router and then connect it to the device to project a wifi signal?
Powerline adaptors are not an option due to my wiring in my flat. Also i'm on virgin media 300mb so would have to get a pretty expensive 1gb if my place allowed.

Hey - no I chose registered mail (british priority mail) which is delivered by Yodel. I had to pay a little extra for it but its what I've used previously. I think the delivery time-span is shorter for me using this method? Theres only 1 day difference between our order dates but I think yours may take up to 5 days extra I think?

It could also be the router, some free ISP provided ones really aren't up to handling the fastest Virgin and Openreach connections. We have 150MB from Virgin as an upgrade but still have an older model Home Hub and it would get bogged down from 3 people using the web for text and audio content. I switched to a pFSense router (which is probably overkill, but was a cheap refurb) and even without optimisation the performance is much better.
I'd suggest buying a cheap length of Cat5e (or better) cable, booting everyone else off (check the router config page for freeloaders) and trying to replicate the problem.

I dont have this yet (awaiting delivery) but if I were to guess why different USB chargers don't always work, it is probably because they may not provide enough voltage - they tend to vary and be designed for phones and a device like this may need a higher voltage to keep it continously running.
This is just my uneducated guess.

Got one for 9 quid from eBay as couldn't be bothered waiting to save a couple of quid. Can't get the App to say it has configured the device correctly on my iPhone and it has created a new APN with a suffix. I expected the APN would have the same name as the original. Also seems very fussy about which power source it works with. I have an Anker multi USB charger and it won't work with this. All in all not that great for a travelling device but would be ok to leave plugged in your house.

Yes - you plug this in somewhere between upstairs and downstairs and it acts as a relay basically that bounces your routers downstairs signal upstairs. On its own your router is unable to reach that far but placing this inbetween where it can reach it will allow this device to bounce it further - this is basically what I understand it does (I've not tried it but I've ordered one myself as it seems useful).

I am not sure what you are trying to achieve. Does your PC already have wifi? If it does then this will only help if it is placed somewhere where there is wifi signal already for it to boost. Attaching it to your pc is not the logical way of doing this, you put it half way between the router and the pc. If your pc is from the Stone Age and doesn't have wifi then you need a wireless adapter not this

Guys, "amplifiers" don't always mean half the bandwidth. I have this one and I use it directly plugged into my router's USB port.
Some of you think that is useless, but let me explain. Connected to your router, it almost has close to zero (or even zero) loss in speeds as it doesn't really have to relay data. It only is to boost the signal. It doesn't lose any bandwidth either this way. Being honest, it probably improved the signal around my house for about 30%, which I am happy for this price.
Now, of course you can set it up and put it on the 2nd floor while your modem is on your 1st floor or whatevernot but yes, then you are going to lose bandwidth and the connection may not be as fast due to the data relay.

dotnetter to Dalkirst
29 Aug 17#3
Depends on the cause of your buffering...
I haven't used IPTV but I'm guessing it's a TV streaming service?
so, it'll be down to either the servers you're streaming from, your broadband speed, other users on your network hogging bandwidth or your WiFi signal.
If you look on your shield at the strength of your WiFi signal and it's not great then this may help (assuming the other areas I mentioned aren't the bottleneck).
Dalkirst to dotnetter

Thanks don't get bad buffering just occasionally and it's when more people have their phones on connected to the wi-fi. You're right it's a TV streaming service.

I've got 3 kids and there's usually online Xbox gaming, 2 Netflix streams to separate TV's plus their phones... And this is while I'm also streaming from Netflix or my friends remote plex server... Never have any issue. Do you know what your download speeds are like?
I have 80Mb sky fibre but usually get around 65Mb...
If you're limited on broadband speed in your area, then your only other option would be to see if your router allows you to configure QoS (Quality of Service)... This allows you to specify what services or maybe devices get what proportion of your available broadband... I've never used QoS before but that is my understanding.

Yes mate, in effect that's exactly what it does. It basically allows you to give certain types of traffic priority over others. Very handy on complex home network setups but more often where you need to guarantee certain services' quality like say VOIP calls in a call centre business over Youtube streaming for staff on break on their machines ...

The description can be confusing. This is "just" a wifi repeater. It won't do magic to your slow wifi, it can actually be slower because it has to relay the data. The idea is to cover weaker area, you put this device in between the weak signal area and your wifi router, it then repeats the signal to your main router.
hcc27 to sbodyontheweb
29 Aug 17#15
Remember, a repeater halves the bandwidth while doubling the latency. Still, a slower connection is better than no connection at all!

I've heard setting up can be tricky if you aren't exactly sure how to do it, but worked like a charm for me. (Used a YouTube guide)
I've found this repeaters' range to be much greater than the actual main routers range. Even if you plug it right next to the main router, you will have signal in much larger area than the router. (It would be a waste to use them right next to each other though)
