The official app only tells you if you have a call or a message. Some of the unoffical ones tell you the name of who is calling, and display the message.

It vibrates and comes up with the name of the person (assuming they are in your contacts) on the display...not the actual text message
b1g1an
3 Aug 17#29
No, the official app tells you who is calling/texting, name if in contacts or just number of not. Some third party apps can display the content of a message.

Not sure if this has been asked but can this be used to track running etc without the need for a mobile phone being alongside at the time? My Mrs has a fitbit blaze but she wouldn't mind something that she doesn't need to carry the phone for too

3 Aug 17#43
yes at any point during my run I can press the button and view my current heart rate, I don't know if it does it constantly without pressing the button to actually view the info. The heart rate information then transfers over into the Mi Fit app on your phone when you next sync the information.

11 Aug 17#70
I agree its not long that the notification stays on. Its fine for when you are working at a desk in an office but its not easy in other scenarios. I've not seen a setting yet but the app for the phone is constantly being updated, its far superior since I bought mine at the start of the year so hopefully they will introduce an option to have the alert displayed for more than just a couple of seconds. I do get every SMS notification however, this is via an iphone. Are you using android or ios?
JamesSmith to shakerstevens
11 Aug 17#69
Just got mine so maybe there's a setting for this :
Problem I'm having is notifications are only for like 1 second.. It's not a long time to check if you are eg driving and I don't see a way to check recent notifications on the Mi Band?
It doesn't seem to pick up every SMS notification.. but early days here.

Me too
shakerstevens
3 Aug 17#45
Yes it does. it lets you know who is calling/texting/whatsapping/emailing you (so long as they are in your contacts) but not the actual content/preview of text etc. If its a number not in your contacts then just the number is displayed. I use it with an iphone although I've turned off the email alerts. There are a few other alerts you can have too such as facebook notification and facebook chat.

Ahhh, so, only your heart rate gets recorded and synced when you press the button? Otherwise no heart rate info gets synced from your entire run and the various parts of it? Thanks.

3 Aug 17#53
I think so. There is an app to go with your phone and you can tell it within the app that you are about to start an activity, and when it does that it takes a heat rate measurement more often, but what I don't know is what happens if you start the activity on the app and then leave the phone at home - I doubt the watch is intelligent enough to remember that you are on an activity and thus will only take a heat rate reading less frequently or when you press the button to view it. I could try it out but won't get chance to go on a run again until the weekend

Yes and No. It won't track the actual route, you need a fitness band with GPS built in for that. But it will track the steps and the distance in KM or Miles that you have covered.

 We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for shopping with us. We are sorry to inform you that the shipment of your order was delayed due to a slower customs clearance procedure and it is currently held by the Customs of your country. This order will be returned to us or destroyed by the customs officers.
Update: Apologies all. I am embarrassed to now realise I also ordered an extra wristband bracelet and my order was split into two coming from different countries. It is this bracelet that has caused the problem and as far as I can tell the watch is out there somewhere and on its way. (Goodness knows why a silicone strap caused such a problem.)

Sorry to hear that..
Just to say I noticed mine was customs marked 'gift'.. very very naughty for a business!
Customs might be seizing goods like this for that reason, in which case Banggood should refund you they shouldn't be marking products as gifts nor do they need to for such low value items. Sadly there was no paperwork with the item either, so if it is opened there is no evidence of value to show it was below threshold.
