Never mind nuclear weapons. We're doing a pretty good job of destroying the planet without them. Could be argued that in the long run a nuclear war now that killed off most of the human population would enable the planet to survive.

First thing you need is a nuclear bomb-proof shelter - now, you wont be able to line it with lead as that's just too expensive.
A lot cheaper to use concrete but it'll need to be about 20 feet thick - so good luck with that...
Now, start getting your suitcases filled with sand ready...

Also go and hunt down the 1984 docudrama type film "Threads" - I think the orange leader and the little fat one need to watch it also.

We were made to watch that in primary school... Nowadays they'd never show kids stuff like that for fear they'll give them nightmares! There's another one on YouTube from the same time as "Threads" called "On The 8th Day" I've been meaning to watch...

Doesn't say much that any school 'person' should have already learnt. A lot about the history of nuclear weapons. Some links on the final page may be useful

I really can't see humans surviving on this planet for long. Maybe it's meant to be that we destroy ourselves to make way for a more advanced organism. Maybe they will find evidence of human life on earth one day and say, "these creatures were a serverly hostile, dangerous creature that wasn't advanced enough to live in harmony with it's environment, or even it's own species". And they'd be spot on too

Totally agree ,would seem our species have a self destruct button pretty much like a virus that takes over a host ,kills it and dies as well .The planet would be more than happy if we became extinct just a question of who dies first ,the planet or humankind !

Hmm, survival; Cooked, Blow Dried, Frozen, Starvation. and no water for a shower to get the dust off. Don't think I would want to survive.

Pro-tip: print this out.
The electromagnetic pulse from a nuclear bomb detonation will render your Kindle useless.

I totally agree. But, I'd recommend printing it using the Draft quality. Otherwise you might feel foolish in wasting printer ink, if there isn't a nuclear war
