I have the pc version and even on a decent spec it's always been tough to get solid 60fps out of it. So I took a punt on the PS4 version at £9.99 and my oh my is that game optimised for PS4 pro. Rock solid 60fps 1080p which is something I've never had no matter what settings use on pc. So if you have a choice between the 2 my recommendation goes to ps4 pro

What spec is it you regard a decent PC?

Core i5 4690k, gtx 970, 16gb ram. It's taken a few guides off the internet to get it running well and the first few weeks were dreadful on pc.... This game was a ps4 developed game so that's where the focus went and it just seems to be way more stable in that platform.

Ouch it's bad if its struggling on that. I'm still getting it on PC mainly because I prefer the 360 controller I use plus I'm hoping my PC is powerful enough to brute force it somewhat (6700K, GTX1070). If not I'll settle for 30fps.
I wasn't doubting your word, its just I've seen a lot of variance in what people regard as decent.
Also a podcast Beyond fan I see

Ha yes but that's quite an old pic, moved over to kinda funny now :-)
To get no man's sky on pc running reasonably well I followed this guide on Reddit
However ps4 was just fire the game up and boom, 60fps nice performance no tweaks or messing around and I'm just there for the simple life :-)

Only had one problem not getting 60fps and that was after 1.2 when I hadn't played in months and was due to my mods being outdated. Simple update of then all and I'm back to highest settings on my 970. What specs do you have?

Annoyingly if you have your PS4 Pro set to 4K. It will run at 4K (obviously) but the FPS is about 45-60FPS. As you said if you set the resolution of the PS4 to 1080p. It is rock solid 60FPS. I hope they add an in game option to set the resolution like Tomb Raider and Dark Souls 3 ect. As I much rather play at 1080p solid 60 than 4K with FPS dropping to 45 at times.

This shows what a little time and support will do for a game. It started out as a tech demo and has just blossomed into the definitive big-concept sci fi game. Fans of Arthur C Clarke, Brian Aldiss et al should definitely pick this up. It's phenomenal now.

High price compared to the PS4 version which can be had for 9.99 or under new.

Kind of a none point if you don't have a PS4
I've been trying to find this at a reasonable price for ages and this is great :raised_hand:

Was simply pointing out that I am surprised it's higher that PS4, ya know since PC games are usually cheaper and all, sheesh.

In this case, given there's probably been a huge amount of sell-ons/trading in, it's probably not that surprising.

To be fair I was very tempted by the PS4 version, but will probably wait a while (since I have so many games) and get the PC version But it is a little unusual that it's cheaper on the PS4

Steam has a monopoly, so you pay what they tell you to.
On PS4 you have second hand games, clearance sales etc. The PSN store is usually a rip off but interesting to note a digital download of NMS is currently £10.

It nowhere near has a monopoly.
It has a lot of users yeah but that don't mean they're spending money. I have a hug steam library and I best only about 10% were bought directly through steam and then only in sales.... cos I'm tight

Console games seem to get the price reductions a lot quicker than PC these days, a lot of that is because Steam etc like to keep the prices up as long as possible, even CD keys its hard to get a decent deal now

Despite all the content updates the game has gotten it still doesn't have most of what was promised, it'll always be known to me as One Man's Lie.

From the patch notes: "Joint exploration has been introduced allowing 16 players to see visual representations of each other in game. Joint exploration does not require PS Plus, and is not currently available on GOG Galaxy." nomanssky.com/atl…te/

I bought at launch for £30 for ps4 and absolutely loved it. My sort of game but the game has been massively improved now and I think will appeal to a wider audience.

It is £15.99 on directly on Steam too. Nothing wrong with buying from GOG, just one step shorter.

If you buy it on GOG, you get the GOG version, if you buy it on Steam, you get the Steam version. So there's no step shorter here.

For anyone wanting it on Steam - it's also £15.99 on the Humble Bundle store, but if you're a monthly subscriber you'll get an extra 10% discount making it £14.39.

Which would be better for the so called multiplayer Gog or steam, will the multiplayer be version specific eg only Gog purchasers can play with Gog purchasers?

If they sold it as early release for £25 it'd be an extremely popular game. They did it to themselves and deserve all they get. Still nice to see them continue to support it though.
