There isn't a monthly fee, the offer is for the actual reader itself, normally £59+ Vat, has been on offer for £25+ vat is now down to £19+vat

*HOT* This is an excellent price for this reader. I have one, and it is very fast at taking payments. If you are ok with 3 business days for your money, then this is for you.

Anyone know how long does the charge lasts on these type of things if rarely used.. i.e. could this be charged up then left switched off in a car just for the rare occasion it might be of use? Alternatively if battery flat how quick are they to switch on and work when plugged into vehicle usb?

The battery on this lasts along time without charge. If you're not going to use it much, press and hold the on/off switch and it will actually turn off rather than go into standby. They switch on within 2 seconds.

Shame it's not for existing customers, my original one broke just out of warranty with very little use and they want full price for a new one.

Be aware of what phones the reader are currently compatible with (there is a list on their web site). I had a Izettle a couple of years ago and had to replace my then mobile phone when a newer versions of the Izettle application was rolled out and no longer compatible with my phone (Iphone3Plus). I changed to a Iphone4. Yet another version was rolled out within the year which was not compatible with the Iphone4 !!!! I changed to Payleven as their reader/application was (and still is) compatible with Iphone4. But otherwise an great alternative to the chip/pin machines being peddled by retail rip-off merchants.

Does anyone know how the % is charged (i.e. is it a flat % added onto the total cost)? i am trying to work out if there would be a simply way of passing the charge to the customer should they wish to pay by card...

Based on what ive read from January it will be illegal to add a surcharge to a customers transaction as the government will be bringing in legislation which means business have to cover the card transaction charges themselves.

Thanks for replies. I suppose if people really need a instant receipt they can take a quick pic of completed transaction. Handy reader for this price anyway.
That was the first link I came across but I've seen the exact same printers at around £20 from China on Ebay. I'm not sure how long the battery would last though.
I've an app in development that would benefit from this and the printers technology, that's why I keep an eye on threads like this.

Shame these offers are always for new customers only. I have a standard izettle reader but would love to upgrade to touchless but no need to pay top whack for a new one when my existing one works ok

I don't understand why you would use this when you can get 0.4-0.6% per transaction going through a high street bank.
If anyone is in the midlands area please let me know, I can give you details of my global payments contact for a much better deal than this.

then monthly fees, 12 - 36 month contracts and PCI fees and dashboard fees, minimum processing fees for £50+, why aren't you mentioning that it costs about £50 - £100 a month to have a terminal, and if you do very few payments you will be running it at a massive loss to yourself.
you'd have to process a couple of grand a month to make it worthwhile paying monthly fees for a normal terminal

Mine has gone faulty too. Im toying with the idea but sumup have there reader on offer for £25 and there fixed rate is lower at 1.9% and goes directly into your bank.

meh, paypal here is IMO better, same fees, but it's a recognisable brand for consumers, you get you money instantly, can withdraw instantly to you bank or via a paypal debit card from an ATM

Always mention it when I see iZettle:
I have an iZettle reader but now use Square. You can buy from Apple shop, Argos or directed from Square ?- £39 - £49 Although more expensive for reader, the fee is only 1.75%.
This perfectly suits me as I have a seasonal business so don't want a monthly fee. I know have three readers as well as a printer and till.
Not a single person has every queriedthe reader or changed their mind once they have seen it.
They also pay next day into the bank. And best advantage is that they offer referral codes. £1000 worth of fee free transactions if you refer people on.
