Its good and I got my version 5 (older) for £25 from amazon but I had to return it 4 times to get one with a good screen - no dead pixels.still going really strong, very happy with the screen

My son's Fire 7" Kids edition needs replacing, could I just get one of these instead of £99 for the official kids one, swap the foam bumper case over and create a kids profile to recreate the kids edition tablet or is there more to it than that? I've only ever used the kids edition so don't know if the software is different...

Yes you could. Although this fire tablet offers more features than the kids edition you can add parental guidance...

i think the only real difference between this and the kids edition is the no-quibble replacement offer that goes with the (much more expensive) kids version.

You definitely can, they are the same thing. The kids one has a 2 year free replacement no questions asked though, so this may be applicable to you.

Yes I have done this! Kids profile looks exactly the same as on the kids edition.

if you have a kids one they have a 2yr "they break we fix" guarantee give them a ring and they should replace for free, you just send the old one back. And yes if you buy a new one it will link to your account and everything you have on the other will be on the new one
Do can i add apps from android play store easy enough like cbeebies games? Anyone know how to get rid of the special offers/ads?

There is plenty of guides for adding play store, which I have done. You only see the adds on the lock screen so I wouldn't worry about it.

Great tablet but severerly hampered by the small 8GB, my kids have these and almost all of the apps want to be stored in the internal memory, even the OS itself takes up nearly 5GB meaning that the whole thing slows down. I bought external SD cards and there's hardly anything on them even after you use the transfer apps option baked into the OS.

At 1gb of Ram I can only think this this would be laggy and frustrating to use from day one, might be ok as a reader of for kids though ....maybe for £34 but not now that is is back at £49.95
