Did anyone else get this at the OP price, as I did at £684 yesterday. Gearbest are now claiming I live in a remote area, and therefore have to pay shipping surcharges, which DHL state my postcode is not on their Remote Delivery schedule. Just wondering if this is normal business practise? Doubtful I will go ahead with the added risk of 15% import tax on top of all fees.

Can I suggest not to get AMD CPUs / motherboards...they've been unreliable in my personal experience compared to Intel CPUs / motherboards.

Hi, I hope these newer CPU / mobos are as reliable as Intel. I'm just speaking from my personal experience - my own AMD laptop had overheating issues and had to throttle it myself, where I work I've have had issues with AMD-based machines blowing their capacitors, and everything Intel-based (which are older than the AMD-based PCs) have been reliable.
These newer AMDs are probably fine. But I've been bitten too many times, so I'm staying away. Just thought I'd share. :wink:

AMD motherboards are manufactured by the same people who make Intel boards... (Gigabyte, Asus, MSI...) So if you have an issue with failures it's either unlucky or using a cheap MB.

Would this be a good Gaming Laptop for a new to pc gaming user or would it be better for me to build my own machine?
I've always been a console user, whilst using my day-to-day laptop to run emulators and homebrew titles on my day-to-day. Recently i've wanted to get more into PC gaming, mainly to play some niche steam titles and other games which require a better graphics etc. Predominately i'll be playing fighting games (using an arcade stick), and Overwatch, Also I'll rarely be gaming on the road, ideally connect the laptop to the big screen.

Much better to build your own as it's upgradable - look at a Ryzen 3 1200 or Ryzen 5 1600 on a B350 motherboard (will OC with boxed cooler to atleast 3.8 GHz) with a Geforce 1060.

Completely agree with this. The only advantage of a gaming laptop is the portability. Worth looking at the steam link if you want to play on a big-screen with a controller. Good call to go for PC gaming (as well as console)

You choose the motherboard to suit the processor. Ryzen for example, you need a motherboard with an AM4 socket - the B350 chipset is best value as it allows overclocking.
Case doesn't really matter, as long it supports the size of the motherboard.
The standard motherboard size is Micro-ATX (usually the cheapest), if you want larger go full ATX and if you want smaller go Mini-ITX.
Plenty of videos on YouTube of Ryzen builds - worth watching some.

Fairly certain there will be an empty M.2 slot so you could add an SSD (SATA/NVMe) and keep the original drive for large games and media files.
