Been looking for a good spec laptop which will last a while and this popped up on the Tesco website with an additional 10% off using code TDX-PMXJ (679 - 67.90 = 611.10).
Anyone had any experience with Medion? The laptop seems to have good reviews, but the company...not so much...
From the website: A top-class, high-end gaming notebook, the Medion Erazer P6679 comes complete with Windows 10 Home. Enjoy playing even power-hungry blockbuster games with the laptop’s Intel Core i7-7500U seventh-generation processor. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M graphics card also provides smooth-running and high-definition gaming fun.
A 256GB SSD provides rapid loading speeds for programs and games while an 8GB RAM provides plenty of space for the latest games, graphics and video editing apps. The laptop’s 1TB HDD is perfect for apps, games, documents, music, video and more.
£611 for a 950m based Medion is an absolute rip off when you can buy a MUCH better performing 1050 based laptop for £700 (see the previous deals on here for HP Omen etc before you ask).

Agreed, the 950M is a poor GPU. I would spend the extra on a laptop with a 1050, though you'll take a slight hit on the CPU and SSD capacity with entry level models at £700.

How did you get 3TB into your PS4? Do the same with this!

I've got a 2TB internal and it takes USB HDD now so got a 1TB of those. I'd love a really top of the range PC but can't afford one. I'd get a Nvidia 1080 Ti with an i7 CPU.

You don't need to go that high if you are looking for better graphics than the PS4

Can't comment on this but got a 8yr old medion akoya with dual core 18" screen and 9600GS graphics that is still going strong

If you turn on ultra settings does smoke start coming out of the back?

It has SSD in the title, but not listed under the full specs, which is strange. Also seems a bit weird combining 7th generation Core I7 with NVidia 9 series rather than 10 series graphics, which would better complement the low power i7 chip. It does seem like a lot of laptop for the money though.
Does anybody know if that is an IPS screen?

I recommend you wait, even a few days or a week, get something with the 7300hq and a 960m or 1050 for not much more than this. There have been a number of deals over the past few weeks, be patient.

I'm amazed this is getting so hot, the card isn't that great for the money and the i7 is about 20% slower than the i5 7300hq
I have a Medion Akoya, was a good price when I bought it direct, but the chassis is/was terrible, the keyboard flexes when you type on the middle keys!
I think Medion have a premium range, Erazer or something daft, this is probably a step down from one of those.

For around £600 you can buy a laptop with a better graphics card such as someone said above with the omen but you don't get the i7 or the decent size ssd 256GB.. Not sure on the make though.

very tempted by this for my sim type games when I don't have access to the main TV... does anybody know if this will easily run games like the new football manager and the upcoming guild 3? thanks

If you buy this with games in mind how are you supposed to build a library with 256GB I've nearly filled up 3TB on my PS4

By only installing the ones you play.

Specs wise it looks great. But never heard of the company and I would suggest anyone looking to buy this check out the manufacture (Medion) to see if they are reliable. Other than that, great laptop.

If this really has 4GB VRAM then it's excellent value for money. 950M is not amazing in 2017 but at this price you can't expect the newest hardware.

What's medion like for build quality? Only needs to run zwift and Lightroom, so not gaming and can't see much else at this price with ssd + hd and dedicated graphics

"Upper mid range" graphics card - for anyone that wants full details on the GPU - click below \/
No way this is an upper mid range GPU. More like lowmid range. Upper mid is a 1060.

Worth pointing out this laptop uses the DDR3 GTX 950M (10-25% slower). Need to be realistic with graphic settings and/or drop the resolution to 768/720p to maintain playable frame rates.

What's the range of games you can reasonably play on a machine like this at decent settings? Anyone got experience with something similar?
