i don't think HDR counts for much on an 8 bit panel like this from what I've read. Although I'm not looking for anything amazing, just a decent TV for watching sports and playing PS4 with mates
EndlessWaves to mdentz

HDR doesn't have much to do with the LCD panel, whether it's 8-bit or 10-bit has very little impact.
HDR is all about the backlight, the key hardware aspects being a the ability to show more extreme colours (wide gamut), a higher brightness range and the ability to adjust the brightness on different areas of the screen independently (local dimming).
This TV has no local dimming and a normal brightness range (less than some competitors in non-HDR mode even). The only thing it does have is a very slightly wider colour gamut.
Basically like every other TV this price any HDR support should be considered minimal and shouldn't be a factor in your buying decision. It's simply an expensive technology currently, although prices should come down over the next few years.

Thanks for providing that information, as I don't have any device that supports HDR at present, just a PS4 slim and one of the new fire sticks, I guess it's not something I should be worrying about? I'm just concerned how this TV would preform for gaming and if there would be issues in regards to juddering when sports like football are being displayed.

I'm not sure how good this panel is for motion, and LG generally don't have the best motion improvement technologies (go Sony or Philips for that).
Picture quality general should be perfectly satisfactory though, and a step up from a budget TV.
Ah sorry. Yes, the 55"/58" versions do have local dimming. LG's implementation is often very poor though, I know some reviews for the (higher end!) UH770 model said that the picture quality was better with it turned off.

The LG info for this TV confirms it does have local dimming.
Clue is in the name, it's a directive. So don't count on it.

Very similar, though the Samsung has a bit more hdr capability. Nothing in this price range will have "great" hdr though, not enough nits.
You will notice hardly any difference other than software, controls, menus and the extra 3". And size DOES matter.

Dependent on what you use kodi for the there are alternative apps available but paid for options. Ie plex can be used for media ie films and tv series. Some people will share there library's for a fee. There is also iptv available yet again for a fee. I use smart iptv app on my LG tv.

I haven't noticed any shadows. Try going to chat online and say something about argos having this promotion and you don't want to hassle them with the returns and ordering a new one, because it's a cost for them too and if they can refund you 15%... Hey guys, so I bought this TV last week as a cheep panel for my kitchen. I thought I would see how it goes and perhaps return the TV as i would like to keep the consistency in my house and keep all my TVs Samsung, however after testing and playing around with this TV I found the MVA panel is actually very nice, the blacks are brilliant and the colours are fantastic. I have not found any judder on this TV, (I did read somewhere that this TV got the best award for watching sports in 2016) there is no light blead or shadowing either. The HD content is crisp and the colours vibrant. The main issue I had was finding a compatible casting app which would allow me to cast via the 3rd party android apps which I have now found one.
In regards to the promo code, not sure how you may have approached it, I can confrim I have been refunded the difference. I too contacted Argos via an online chat and they said they all I would have to do is go in store and produce my recipt and the payment card and the code which I would like to apply. I saved the transcript as proof just in case. I went in store yesterday and received my refund, so all in all I have now paid £466! For this reason I have now decided to keep the TV and have now moved it into my loft bedroom!
