I'm going to change all my lightbulbs to ES , I think they are a better fitting and easier to fit a new bulb in,
And No I'm not European , I voted out

The new ceiling light I purchased has 5xes14. Expensive bulbs (it was B&Q) £7 each!

2 packs take them apart and solder/wire them in series on some aluminium.
I'd have 87watts LED grow light for my lettuce for £5.98

You can also get bc to es adapters and every variation you care to think of on eBay, though you won't be able to get meatballs or hot dogs at the same time.

Much prefer BC, just a simple push & twist. Quick & easy.

Bayonet are starting to be phased out. A lot of new lamps are now ES, which is no bad thing as i prefer ES.

If they were bayonet I'd have grabbed some for sure, I think ES is more a USA thing?

Little wonder these are seemingly always on offer, no one uses ES fittings!

Ey? I replaced all the ceiling lights a couple of years back from a few different shops and they are all ES fittings! Bargain at this price!

Why ES? Not a single fitting in any house I ever lived in used full sized ES!

I blame Brexit :face_with_monocle:

Most of Europe use ES which is why many fittings coming here are ES.

Yeah, but we've had enough of Europe and their weird ways. How are we meant to take our country back if we go around using their light bulbs?!?!?!

Speak for yourself, then buy the BC version, only £9.49.

you mean European Union and I've always wondered why there's so many fittings...!

Whatever they are, all I know is this country voted for bayonet light fittings so thats what we should use!
Seriously though, it is odd. We have bayonet in most ceiling lights, but small ES in most lamps. There is the odd small bayonet but it's not used much, strange if we are fixated on the standard bayonet. Bayonet seems a simpler system, twist slightly and its in, whereas ES takes several turns.
