I had one of these, until last night the paint sat on fire! The burgers where definitely flame grilled.... Letter of complaint on route to [email protected] it's dangerous

I just don't get gas BBQ? If i remove my oven from kitchen and put on patio would it be an electric BBQ? Guess the scrap men must Love the spring when these are lined up all rusty from sitting in garden all winter. Never mind the folks that blow themselves up connecting gas bottle. I really don't get it? Oh well. Just my opinion.

I assume your electric oven is ran by coils for heat instead of gas and fire.. So... You can compare it with a toaster but not a quite flame bbq.
To answer your question where it was intended; yes its v similar to a gas oven, except you have open flames and you get more of the char grill element to it. If you jazz it up with lava rocks and different gas/techniques of cooking (ie smoke wood chips, ultra low heat with water to create convection cooking etc) it becomes quite versatile cooking equipment.
It's easier to control and from a practical standpoint, it's easier to start, finish and clean. I often whack on the BBQ for a 'lazy dinner'- I only need to clean tongs, knife and a quick scrap of the grill to remove debris.

Ah. That makes more sense. Not used one myself as tend to use british made disposable bbq. Worries me seeing so many gas sets just left in garden and with rubber gas seals perishing in the cold winter, it's no wonder spring don't start with a bang. Sounds like you know what your doing though. Guess I worry although that boat blowing up at Bristol dock 2 weeks ago is another warning about gas bottles.
