Comes with a screen protector fitted but only sticky sheet not tempered. Still, lasts well, no obvious scratches/marks. Would be fine to just order a back case and use original protector if that's what you're thinking.

Got a case in teabay that was listed as pc shell case. Came with front and back cover along with tempered glass. About a fiver Inc postage. Not the most expensive looking/feeling of cases but does the job. (In rose gold for the mrs.)

I didn't even open SIM, details were on the packet. Spoke to several different EE folk but while process took 10 mins max and they were all very friendly, no pressure or hard sell or trying to talk me out of it.
No idea about warranty but I'd assume first point of contact would be CPW.

That's really strange given that I only bought it yesterday so you'd think it'd still be valid. I guess I was lucky that there are two CPWs within 5 mins walk of each other where I work and managed to find someone who knew what I was on about.

I've just checked instore and the salesperson couldn't get this deal for me. He was trying several different combinations but the minimum phone price was £149.99. I was watching the screen myself and couldn't see it either. I'm going to try the Quidco or TopCashBack route as they are giving £10 cashback on SIM free phones. £140 is still a good price.

Thanks for this. I went to one store which said they you had to take out a 12 month contract. I then went to another one down the road, and the guy looked it up and confirmed that it was possible to do what you said (i.e. pay £110 and take out a one month contract for £13.99).
Did you just pop the SIM into the phone and just call up EE CS to cancel the contract? Do you know what the warranty implications are? If the phone breaks in the first year, are CPW responsible or is it EE (even though we won't have the contract with them?).

Yes it's a dual sim phone, but if you want to use a microSD card to increase storage it takes up the second sim slot.
If you remove the factory fitted screen protector , if you leave it fitted the screen is fine . I have the p9 lite never removed the screen protector and its fine to the touch . Regular cleaning with screen cleaner helps lots too

I went to buy one today, was jumping down the poor guy's throat as soon as he started talking about contracts and options. I was too hasty! If I took out a 30 day EE contract for £13.99 then the phone only cost £109.99. Total cost therefore only £123.98. Can't find it online, only contract online at that price is 30 days and slightly different bundle.

I wouldn't say it was its strongest selling point but I find it perfectly adequate for my needs. Filming indoors was alright but it didn't seem as good compared to the same scene filmed by the mobile its replacing, having said that the OPX is running Sultans custom ROM with the camera optimised, whereas the p8 was using the factory defaults. I Never ventured outside to try it, its a day for the ducks I'm afraid.

I agree that its a basic feature, just like coming with a charging cable. It's a corner that has been cut but its easy/cheap enough to fix. Trying fixing the issue of your phone not having enough RAM, that's impossible to fix. I know which corner I'd prefer to be cut to keep the price down.

this is a great phone, however I have had bluetooth issues with mine, bluetooth headphones and a fitbit struggled to connect or stay connected, however, my car and Huawei band are fine - seems to be a common problem, however never seems slow to me, get good battery life, photos are good. Finger print scanner is fast. The only other thing is I have a hairline crack straight across the screen and honestly don't know how it got there. Spec for price I feel this knocks the G5 out of the park... And if you don't like the huawei emui change it for Evie a superb launcher!

Good price for this. Thanks OP. Not sure why people compare the P8 to Moto G5. Huawei is miles better. More ram and processing power. Quality is also better. Camera is similar. Removable battery is no advantage to most people who are likely to upgrade before it wears down significantly.

23 Aug 17#30
It's more important when you want to know the direction you are looking at (orientation), and when doing the google maps navigation ON foot (because the google maps cannot get your direction unless you walk a long distance. By car, that's not an issue, as within a second you have travelled at least 30ft which is enough to overcome GPS margin of error and provide data of your direction). It's quite useful, for example when you are.getting out of the tube and have to make up your mind which direction you should walk etc. Furthermore devices with an e-compass receive more positional/directional data, which is important if used for applications requiring those, such as Augmented and Virtual Reality.

This really is useful information, thank you for your time.
For the amount of times I would find use for the compass I'm wondering if I should be getting so hung up on it. Having said that, I did exactly what you mentioned just this Saturday when I was trying to navigate (between pubs and restaurants!) in the middle of London. My phone, an old nexus 5, helped a lot so im assuming it has a compass. Otherwise I may have been lost!

Some motorola g5 have 3GB and some 2GB. You need to check. Apart from this NFC and comapss missing on the G5 but G5 has a removable battery which Huawei doesn't have. I went for the G5 specifically for this reason as once the battery wear off then the phone become useless or you will need to pay someone to replace it hoping the phone wont get damaged

I think that even if the battery is good, it cant last more than 1-2 years before it starts to last for short time..I use 4 spare batteries and never found my self outside in troubles without battery. I choose to give up compass and a slightly better quality phone (huawei) than giving up the battery

23 Aug 17#20
Agreed on lots of batteries giving up after 2 years. On the other hand, if your paying £150 for a phone, are you really going to be using this for more than 2 years?
No enough RAM will start to hurt from day 1, never mind 2 years down the line.

I have used a samsung s3 neo with 1.5GB ram for 2 and half years and still using it (paid something like 150£). No issues until now (except broken screen..my fault)..only thing which caused me some problem was the 16GB memory but i used an external micro SD and kind of solved the problem. I can use this Samsung for another year if I want too. Now I got the G5 with 3GB and im pretty sure I Can use it easily for 2-3 years. I alredy purchased 2 extra batteries for 11£ each. No need for a power bank and can buy more if needed. Compass lack is annoying I agree ..still wondering why Motorola left this out..

If you ever travel to a new city and want to use the maps to find your way around on foot, a compass is a requirement. Otherwise the phone will guess the walking direction and often send you completely the wrong way.
Also, if you are ever driving through a built up area using the sat nav and GPS signal is lost, the compass will help to direct you until GPS is restored. Without a compass the phone will try to guess what you are doing, and it usually makes a mess of it (wrong direction, wrong street...etc).
If you only use maps as a sat nav, the lack a of a compass probably won't cause you any major issues.
