I have this printer. They have the worst policy for refill inks. If your looking for cheap refill ink printer, this is not the one.

I have an Envy printer with Instant Ink deal and I've grown to dislike it intensely. It has trouble picking up pages for A4 sheets, with HP paper, and will not pick up photo sized paper at all. I've been paying the £1.99 a month for the Instant Ink for over a year and despite going over the monthly page limit sometimes, I've never needed to replace the ink and have not received any in the post, so it is actually quite expensive for ink, the cost is hidden in the monthly payment.
The driver on windows randomly uninstalls and needs reinstalling. The WiFi on the printer is often disconnected and a printer restart is needed before I can print.
So I'm looking for a new printer.

I've had this printer for over a year now and i've been impressed, quiet (at lot quieter than my old epson, i cant actually hear this print when im downstairs), decently priced inks and good functionality and print quality.

Obviously not the same printer but I have the HP 5540 and I'm massively unimpressed with it. prints look washed out with HP instant ink on HP paper scanner is slow and very poor, can't cope with light shades of any colour .. e.g. Light blue or brown comes out grey. To cap it all it randomly crashes now and needs a restart after 1 hourr, and it's only 18 months old

What is the cheapest wireless printer compatible with iPad / ink combination for incredibly occasional use? My neighbours need a new printer, they just need to replace their current printer with one compatible with their iPad as their laptop broke recently. Will only probably print around 500 pages a year if that!

I think it is better to buy because there is 3 months (5 months with codes) free ink!
I'm an HP Instant Ink customer and have to say that in my opinion it is worth it. When you sign up with code you have ink for a free month + a referral code from an existing user for another free month. In this deal you have 3 months + 1 month free + 1 month free = 5 months, 300 pages per month.!!

I got this printer. It does the job. You get your initial cartridge which can do 100 pages then you can use Instant ink which is great for people who don't print much too as they have a free tier.

Fantastic printer. This one hasn't ever given us wireless problems like other printers. It just works and gives quality prints. Using HP Instant ink is brilliant too.

worth checking out this one, different model but comes with free Instant Ink for 1 year
I rarely use the printer, just for postage labels really, at most use it ten times a month some months not at all, instant ink for 1.99 looks ok though

I have the Envy 4524, I find the HP Instant Ink to be great value, definitely worth looking in to if you print regularly.
