Thanks. Bought just for the deep sockets, at £1 each it's worth it to get these alone.
Thanks OP for the heads up on this, reserved, absolute steal at this price. Also reserved a couple of other items that seem good value. T bar tool kit and a 3 piece plier set.
Discount code worked on the plier set only but not complaining at £9.25 for the two.

How tight does it need to be retorqued ? For 27mm you'll probably need 1/2", I'd be tempted to get an 18" breaker bar and 27mm socket. My 18" halfords breaker bar is probably my most used socket accessory, the 24" version is too long - too bendy

my local store has had no worries about applying British Cycling 10% off ontop of the online voucher code on the many items recently purchased.
why i have done so i dont know but ordered this a few hours ago ( glad i did so now ) to go with the smaller 3/8 & 1/4 inch sets also bought recently ( as 2nd sets for the set of each i've had for a couple of years already lol )
also worth a gander at is the repair kits for the wratchets
that contained the smaller extreme wratchets or you could buy the 1/2 inch handle seperate ( still can where there is stock & its on offer @ £15
yes i know the lifetime warrenty covers wratchets now but @ 85p with code ( 77p with british cycling or above instore voucher ontop ) they are worth it just incase you have a mechanical when the stores are closed so you can get going again without wainting till the stores re-open - sadly the standard 45 tooth 3/8 repair kit aint online BUT both my local stores had a couple on the shelves - sadly no online code could be applied so alas a 90p purchase but still cheap )
confused_boardman_owner
15 Aug 17#57
buy both
i got the small 1/4" set recently at the same price & the small 3/8" one too that was similar priced if memory served a few weeks ago now. ( why i dont know as i already have both sets ) i have also ordered one of these too to go on the pile with my other halfords socket sets awaiting a use - you can never have too many decent wratchets nd sockets
Schwarzenegger
16 Aug 17#58
The only thing putting me off is the 1/4 set uses 6 point (hexagonal) sockets, this 3/8 set uses the 12 point (circular) sockets. I prefer 6 point sockets as they are less likely to round off bolt heads.

I think this is for employee's of Morton Michel, a bit like the Gregg's staff version here:

16 Aug 17#72
That's exactly the same. The voucher I posted 'used to' include the sentence, 'this voucher will only be valid when supported by proof of entitlement...' I have used this many times now and it has always worked. Even when combined with other discount codes online. Also, if anyone has access to corporateperks.com you can get an extra 10% off by paying using discounted Halfords vouchers. I got an £800 bike for £630 using this method.

i think its hit & miss depending on your local stores, they have implimented a guideline ( so i have been informed by the manager last year anywhoo ) where you cant mutiple stack instore anymore ( so i may have issues if i wandered in with the instore voucher in this thread & the BC discount card ( i would get 1 or the other - had that with a set of discount pedals from a store a little ways away, would only let me have a voucher or BC discount ontop of the sale pedals with online discount already applied, opted for the voucher as it was for 20% )
been the same way with the bikes i have ordered too, waited till a flash sale & occasionally dropped on lucky & found a voucher code on here too so a double stack online discount & they still took BC discount off instore ( & paid by vouchers bought @ 10% off too )

Be careful, just used click and collect on three different items transacted as separate orders, Socket set + Pliers + Adjustable Spanner. My email confirmation shows the 15% code was applied successfully on each item, only when I returned home did I realize that the receipt showed the full price on the Socket set and Pliers. Too much hassle to return but rather annoyed. Next time I will take my confirmation email and check the receipt before leaving.

I got the 170 piece set a few years ago for around #125 when it was on offer. To be honest, I still mainly use an halfords 1/2 inch drive set from the 80's and one of the dead cheap 1/4 drive socket set I bought from Halfords for #9.99 many years back as the 170 piece one is a tad large to lug about. However; when I do use it, with today's cars and bikes I have used most of the sockets and torx drives (male and female) and the ratchet spanners have been a godsend on many an occasion. the things like allen keys and screwdriver bits are very rarely used from the set and it is a bit of a con to get the set to 170 piece by putting them in.
The ratchet spanners are rarely reduced in price (not like the swivel head ones) and taking into account the sockets, etc. the 170 piece set is well worth buying when you can get it around the #125 mark.
But I still buy the smaller sets as I can leave these in the car, the 1/4 drive sets now sold as these ones (same set different case) halfords.com/wor…1-4 has taken some real abuse, many a time I've expected the ratchet or sockets to break but to date they have held up well :)....well worth buying when they are 2 for #20 or #9.99
Sorry about the # for some reason my pound sign has stopped working
