Hope you're joking, but if you aren't they're referring to the fact that a product named NOW isn't available NOW. Although since that was a few hours ago, it is available now!

Cold want the 6 months entertainment or 4 months cinema for £19 to come back. Imho this is not a very good deal
noahsdad to Jaybeam
23 Aug 17#22
Each to their own, but seems a bit harsh. Heat from me. Almost everything is going up in price over the last year. You might be waiting a long time for a deal that might not even ever come.
TheChopper to Jaybeam
23 Aug 17#32
How so? The boxes without a pass sell for £10 (minus fees) on ebay. So that's £2.49 for 3 months entertainment or £4.98 for 6 months. If you're selling the box, this is a much better deal imo. Hot!

Just as well as the Kids box doesn't offer very good value even at this price, seeing as the passes sell for £3 a month. Selling the box just about make it worthwhile

23 Aug 17#37
I am not sure but I had a movies pass that was around a year and a half old that did not work I called them and they gave me another. They did not say it had run out just that it was defective in some way . I personally think it timed out
shakerstevens to susanne30
23 Aug 17#40
About 6 months, be careful of stocking them longer, I had one 8 or 10 months old and it expired, had to go through now tv chat support, they were helpful and eventually gave me a new replacement code but I doubt they would keep doing that for the same account.

I know this is a little off topic but are the kodi box's still not working for streaming films/football? The premier league went to all that trouble to block these streams and all you have to do is search the game you want on Google and it's the first or second result actually better picture than we were getting with kodi

Supposed to be 12 months from purchase, but their customer service is good anyway and will sort it out if you've bought from a retailer and find yourself with an expired pass  I don't know how it compares to the sky though.

The monthly Ents pass cost has gone up recently (or is about to), so you'll struggle to get that price again I suspect. Maybe over Christmas it might pop back up somewhere.

Yes, you download the Sky Sports Box Office App on your Now TV box, go online to the dedicated site and pay for the fight, then sign into the box office app with your new box office log in details and then you can stream the fight! Sky Box Office Link

Are the new black NowTV boxes a lot better than the old white ones? My elderly parents use one mainly for iPlayer & old movies on YouTube but find the box a bit "clunky" to use.

I found my old white box terrible for BBC player. The black one is lots better but still can glitch every now and them. But what can you expect from the BBC. Plus now they have added a Sign In function. I have no doubt there is something coming connected with verifying you have a TV Tax License. But what can you expect from the BBC?

Any new word on installing Plex on these? Last I heard new firmware blocked it
aj2001
23 Aug 17#42
If only we could install plex
Have two of the white boxes that are fully working but I fear that as soon as I use them the software will update and plex will be history.
Need to find a way to stop update but then other apps might not work.

Has any one been able to use the USB slot on these to play media from a USB stick? What formats does it support? There's absolutely nothing I can find on the NowTV website about specs for these boxes?
captainbeaky to Patr100
23 Aug 17#47
There used to be an app which allowed you to do this - which you could "sideload" on to the device in same way people installed Plex. But following a firmware update this "side loading"functionality has been blocked to the best of my knowledge.
Sphere to captainbeaky
23 Aug 17#52
Yep, firmware update seriously locked down these boxes stopping downloading sideloading and USB functionality - Good old Sky - getting people to pay for things that were free. Funny they also charge for 'freeview' channels !
nougat to Sphere
23 Aug 17#53
i don't pay for the freeview channels with NowTV. I can't see how that is even possible!
Patr100 to Sphere
23 Aug 17#58
From what I can find, the more expensive SmartBox can play media via USB according to some reviews (supports MP4 and MKV for example) but the cheaper NowTV box had a redundant USB slot because they were simply old Roku cases that had been remade with reduced functionality. But I wonder if that has changed recently if amyone has actually used a recent NowTV box with Usb?

23 Aug 17#49
Just incase folk were not aware you can now use Sky Box Office on these (I think) so should be able to watch the big McGregor vs Mayweather fight this weekend for £20.

Went to Argos yesterday to get a tablet I'd seen on here. Bought a carrier bag for 5p to take it just over the £100 mark, got the £10 voucher. Was looking for deals on these today and saw the offer price, reserved for collection. Went to the store, gave them my voucher from yesterday and paid the princely sum of £2.49 for the box with the 3 month Entertainment pass. Not a bad couple of days work.
So, the question everybody has probably asked before, if a 3 month Entertainment Pass from Currys is £15, and these boxes regularly go on offer for less than that with a 3 month pass included, why wouldn't anyone just buy a couple of new boxes with pass included (and spare HDMI cables) whenever they're on offer? Have some people got piles of unused boxes sitting in the cupboard under the stairs? Surely they can't keep this up. Also, does anyone actually leave them to take the £6.99 per month payment from their account (£7.99 now I think) when their first pass is up, when the passes are cheaper than that? I'm completely new to Now TV, so if anyone can shed any light on this business model I'd be quite interested! Also, any tips on the best places to buy passes from? Any advice on the most economical way to use this service would be very much appreciated.

I've got a reputation of being a local dealer in unwanted freeview boxes! Sadly, stockpiling at reduced rate is the cheapest way to get passes, I just give the boxes away now and use the codes! Another cheap way is to buy the e gift cards direct from now tv website, entertainment at £5 per month, still doesn't beat this deal though even throwing the boxes away, madness!

Can someone please advise the cheapest way to get just the codes?.... now tv built into my smart tv so no need for a box, got that much hooked up to our tv that don't think there's a spare HDMI port anyway if one is needed?.... cancelled current pass yesterday (was £1.99 p.month for 3 months) but didn't get offered anything worthwhile staying for ☹ best to just play around with my email address again and create a "new account" and get welcome offers (running out of options as moved the dot that many times ha) or just buy this box for the 2 codes? Any help gratefully appreciated, ta muchly ❤

How can you use it if your TV only has one HDMI port which is being used by the Amazon Firestick? There might be some kind of VGA or USB plugin HDMI converters but it's not such a good deal if I have to purchase one of those just to use it.
